Nov 21, 2025Amazing food, fantastic service but lacks entertainment and the WOW factor
We ended up having a wonderful vacation despite some challenges. First I went to start by highlighting the poolside service, a most special shout out to Geovanni! Despite him not being our pool waiter on some days, he was always so friendly, funny and accommodating. The food was absolutely exceptional, loved the surf and turf and Chilean salmon in Oceana, the chefs trio in Maraki and most everything in Portafina. Brian at Baracuda makes the best drinks and puts on a show while making them. Absolutely loved the shrimp and fish tacos, was extremely surprised and disappointed to hear they would no longer be serving them at Baracuda, very happy we got to have them while we could. I hope they reverse that decision and bring them back. Upon arrival, the resort is nice but does not have the immediate WOW factor that we are used to at other Dreams and Secrets resorts. We upgraded to the Preferred swim out, loved it and the Preferred access until halfway through our vacation. It seems there was a water main break above us and they had to jack hammer the floor in the Preferred lounge. Needless to say, we couldn’t use our room or swim out for 4 days of our 7 day vacation. Although it was out of their control, I would have hoped for some sort of compensation from the resort. D3spite that, we still had a great vacation, made some lifelong friends and are very happy we decided to come to Mazatlan for our first time.

Excellent service from the staff, especially the Pool Waiters Geovanni & Alejandro and Bartender Angel. Restaurant waiter, Francisco was very helpful. The food is excellent here.

Meraki restaurant
Enjoyed 2 meals here during our stay we had Efrain at Merkai he was a great waiter and served us quickly’ we enjoyed a great meal!

Fall break family vacation
I took a weeklong vacation with my two teenaged children. The resort is new and beauitful. It is the smallest resort we have been to so it does have an intimate feel to it. Slides and lazy river were so much fun. You do need to bring your own floaties from home though. Restauraunts were wonderful and the food was amazing. No issues getting minor substitions for my picky eaters. No long waits to get seats and the ambiance was great. We struggled near the end of the trip to decide which restaurants to choose as they were all so good. Drink and food service poolside was great. Giovonni was great for us and we had him for all but the last day there. There was not a whole bunch on entertainment group activites as there were very few children on the restort between the ages of 10-18. It was impossible to properly organize a match of pool or beach vollyball for some reason this trip. This resort is located directly next to a sea turtle santuary and we were lucky enough to get to watch a baby turtle release. Quite the fun and memorable experience. As the restort is so new, everything looks good and works in the rooms. All the hotel rooms face the ocean and all have pool/garden views. If you are looking for a smaller resort, with a slower pace then this a great option. Plus it was less than a 15 minute drive from the airport.

Girls trip
Everything at the pool was great the server Geovoni was excellent. A good place to have fun. We enjoyed the restaurants and the sunsets.
