Beautiful island, but stay elsewhere
This island is beautiful but this hotel is one to be avoided. On arrival no reception drinks and no friendly face! Rooms Our first room 420 was tidy, the bathroom was tired with the bath delaminating but, functional. The room also only had two hot taps! Better than cold showers though. Unfortunately the AC didn’t work so having reported it the following morning and it being “fixed” we asked to move after another sweaty night. A very unhelpful receptionist (female with glasses) told us the hotel was full which we didn’t believe as still rooms for sale for the week on the internet. After asking to see a manager suddenly a room because free… We were shown a room 419 which was next to the lifts where we had smelt a strong smell of weed (cannabis) every morning and evening, turns out this room had an interconnecting door with the one being smoked in so we decided to turn down this room. The woman showing us the room pretended she couldn’t smell it, but it was so pungent her acting skills rather let her down. She then said smoking wasn’t allowed in the hotel so she’d report it! We were then shown room 220 which had a weird smell (not weed) on entry, but working AC, we decided to take it. I pointed out to the man showing us the room, the smell and he smiled and said it’s a very old hotel with many problems. At midnight we had water pouring through the bathroom ceiling where the AC was leaking. This clearly wasn’t the first time this had happened with mold visible in the bathroom ceiling and walls, plus wet damp patches in the room by the bed under the AC unit. Having discovered the hot water was also broken we asked to move again. Francisco put on a great act of being surprised this room was also malfunctioning. The final room was fine. Francisco said he would make it up to us with a spa treatment for our inconvenience of moving into 3 rooms over a 7 night stay, but came forward with nothing until we asked on the final day and got $100 to spend in the shop. If he had apologised with a treat of some description, I may not have been writing this review! Damp clearly an issue all over hotel- look up in reception areas- water coming through ceiling and visible mold. Bathroom by buffet is disgusting- 2/3 door locks broken and doors see through. Horrendous smell of urine. Food Buffet- average. Lack of replacement of mugs, cutlery etc after the first sitting so you have to find what you need around the dining area. Italian- we queued for 1.5hrs, food average. Plenty of room for more tables in there but instead they have people waiting in hoards outside. Oceania- the best of the restaurants. Janine (?) was such a wonderful waitress and made us smile. Grill- more modern than the rest. Food was ok, but nothing special. Entertainment- average. Seating areas- plenty of spaces……with no chairs or tables in. Not enough places for people to play cards so they sit either side of the tour operators desks. Casino is a total waste of space that could be utilised for restaurant space. Hardly anyone in there whenever we walked through to the grill. Children’s pool is not used at all- only 2 loungers there and NO umbrellas. Very tired area. Could be made into another proper pool to help with crowding in other pool/ beach areas. Drinks are plentiful and waiters are friendly. Shame they use throw away plastic cups, rather than washable ones- not great for the environment. There are iguanas about- the grey one that frequents the beach has an addiction to pina colada and will jump on guests holding one. Worryingly, we also saw people feeding him chips which cannot be good for him. People were also taking bread in for the fish which is not natural for them to consume- perhaps some educational signs would help. Beach Beach area is lovely, but small. Chairs were all taken by 8am and some guests didn’t rock up to use them until midday of later which is frustrating. Beautiful island, but avoid this very old and tired hotel. Suspect it needs smashing to the floor and starting again.

Dreams Il Mare is our new favourite.
My wife and I stayed at the Dreams Il Mare (Adults only) side of the resort, for two weeks in February 2026. We had bungalow # 5, near the east beach and with a sunset view. We couldn't be any happier with our beach front room. The views and beach accessibility can not be beat. The room was very well set up and the king bed and pillows were very comfortable. We don't drink and emailed a request ahead of our arrival for none alcoholic beers and soda water for the mini bar. The fridge was stacked accordingly every day. On request from our amazing butler Shakeil, a bucket of Heineken Zero's on ice would be delivered to our beach chairs. The great butters also took care of breakfast delivery to our room, all dinner reservations, car reservations, and any other requests that we had. Thanks again to our great butlers Shakiel, Shenny, and Manager Leon. The restaurants we ate at were, Battalino's, Oceanic, Portofino, Craft ( Seaside Grill), CoCo Cafe, and Blooms and Botanical at Zoetry. These restaurants were all quite good. However we didn't like the Barefoot Grill or the Dreams buffet. After two weeks of eating at these restaurants we tried everything on the menus at least once. I used the CoCo Cafe every morning for Scuba snacks like crab sandwiches, fruit, and yogurt. They also have ice cream, pastries, and specialty coffees, that we had more than our share of every day. The maid service was always good, and it helps to know a bit of Spanish to be able to communicate with the maids. Small tips like 5.00 USD every couple days goes a long ways to making the maids happy and does get little perks like extra coffee pods and towels. There is a Scuba diving shop on resort called Goby Scuba. They also have the main shop on the neighbouring Marriott resort on the east side. I used the Marriott shop, since it was a very short walk from our bungalow. The dive boat was 300' from our room. The diving at Curacao is very good, and the water is warm 27c with 100' plus visibility. Snorkelling the house reef is also top notch with plenty of fish and coral to see. There is entertainment on most evenings. We did really enjoy the fire dancers, and the Carnaval dancers and drummers. There was also a saxophone soloist that played at Battalino's and the Zoetry for evening dinners. The pools, beaches, and views on the resort were all top notch. We are more beach people and never sat at the pools very much. But the two infinity pools were very popular. Drinks are not delivered to the pools or beaches unless you have butler service. But the bars are on location and very handy. We don't drink, but from what we saw and heard the drinks were all very good. There is top notch liquor in the Preferred Club bar and the Bar Blu ( Il Mare side). There is a casino on site. We don't gamble but we did walk through it a couple of times. There are lots of VLT's, card tables, roulette, sports betting, and horse racing. The ATM machine is in the casino, and gives USD and Gilder. We did not view the Dreams hotel rooms, and can't comment on them. There is also a spa on site that we did not use. If you want to stay at this Dreams resort we highly recommend staying at the Il Mare (Adults Only) side of the resort.

Not as expected.
If you want an excellent resort experience, choose somewhere else. However the island and city are amazing! Enjoy the amenities and the culture outside of the resort, and/or choose a different resort for a great holiday!

THIS IS NOT DREAMS QUALITY
If this would have been my first experience in a Dreams I would have never become an Unlimited Vacation member! This hotel is a disgrace for the brand Dreams and Unlimited Vacation. The rooms should be a 2 star hotel, the food is the worst Inhave had in a long time and the housekeeping absolutely terrible! How is it possible that being a Preferred member my room was cleaned at 4 pm and when I got in there were no towels!!!! Oh!.and the night we arrived there was no shower gel or shampoo . The bathroom .... well I wil post the pictures. This hotel needs urgent and deep renovation. The food? How can be bad food in Curacao? This beautiful island has amazing food everywhere you go! Except in Dreams. Terrible in the buffet and terrible at the restaurants. The only good thing I can say is that the people are great. They did their best to help and made feel appreciated but there is so much they can do. SUGGESTIONS: renovate rooms and bathrooms, hallways etc. And hire good chefs and change the managers in charge of housekeeping.

Not what I expected as a Preferred Member of UVC.
Room was not set up for us, had a running toilet, flood in bathroom when showering, no remote, no hairdryer. City View was a view of roof tops. Yuck. Food was okay at buffet, good at Italian restaurant, horrible otherwise. Beach was beautiful as was pool. Spa treatment was great. Snorkling was great. Maid service was great.
