Not what I expected as a Preferred Member of UVC.

Room was not set up for us, had a running toilet, flood in bathroom when showering, no remote, no hairdryer. City View was a view of roof tops. Yuck. Food was okay at buffet, good at Italian restaurant, horrible otherwise. Beach was beautiful as was pool. Spa treatment was great. Snorkling was great. Maid service was great.

We discovered an island that is worth visiting, great snorkelling.

Premium location for casual snorkelling in marvellous environment, just at the beach. Temperature on island is perfect and very predictable, 25C at night, 30C during the day, barely never rain. It did not rain for the whole week, and that seems to be normal. The 30C was not as humid as you can find in other locations like Mexico so are not constantly feeling at wet. Island is very safe. Capital is charming, really worth going visiting. That said, more expensive than average as a result of being an Island where everything need to be imported. Locals are very respectful and will not insist when you say no. We discovered an island that is worth visiting.

Resort "Star" Rating System is Not a Quality Rating System

"Star" Ratings on Travel Websites are not related to the "quality" of the resort. The Star rating system relates to the features and amenities of a resort. So a resort may have a 5 Star rating because it includes such things as; wide guest corridors, a casino, a health spa/gym, multiple rstaurants, etc. A 5 Star rating has nothing to do with quality of food, accommodations, service level, etc. The BEST indicator of the quality of a resort is actually what you pay to stay there. A $5000 pp resort is going to have higher quality than a $2500 pp resort. You get what you pay for. Dreams is very good value.

    Only 1 complaint…

The food was AMAZING, super fresh and plenty of options. The drinks were good & the bartenders were friendly. The entertainment was just okay, I guess this is more of a relaxed resort vs. a party resort because there wasn’t much to do daily, just a couple of activities in the morning (i.e. yoga, volleyball, etc.) & shows in the evening. The beach was small but beautiful. There were several beach chairs staged, but they seemed to always be claimed. There were 2 pools, 1 for adults & a kiddie pool, nobody was ever at the kiddie pool so we spent more time there than at the beach or the other pool. The view was beautiful, all of the staff were kind and helpful & room service had plenty of options. The only thing I didn’t like about my stay was the room. The first thing I noticed was that it was dirty: the floor boards in the bathroom, the curtains, the sheets, etc. & there was a connecting door to the next room & we could could hear the other guests speaking, walking, etc.
