  RUN!! Don't stay at Dreams Curacao!

  DO NOT stay in the regular rooms or suites. Absolutely terrible! The Bungalows were the only updated and clean areas. The rest of the hotel was like a $100 truck stop Motel. ABSOLUTE terrible! Some didn't have working air or hot water, no shower curtain. dirty walls and shower area. It was really bad.

  We stayed at the Dreams Curaçao Spa and Casino Resort from September 19–26, 2026, for our annual extended family vacation of ten people. My immediate family (my husband, our two children, and I) booked a standard double room. When we arrived, no one greeted us or directed us to the front desk. Once we reached our room, we discovered that the air conditioner was not working. We requested to be moved to a room with functioning air conditioning, but were told the only available option was an upgraded room that would cost approximately $700 for the remaining seven nights. At sevenmonths pregnant and traveling with two small children, the only solution offered to us was a fan. The open buffet dining area and barefoot grill were equally unhygienic. The dining area was overrun by flying birds and flies eating from exposed food, and there were no preventative measures in place, such as fly fans and no available staff to clean tables. The tables at barefoot grill were consistently contaminated with pigeon droppings. No staff in sight to clean the table and chairs. And no place to take your food because poolside areas did not have tables and the sign prohibited food. We quickly learned that everything was self-serve. The tables in the buffet area were unkept and rarely stocked with utensils. With no staff in sight, guests were left no choice but to take utensils from select few tables. On day 3, both my mother and aunt were ill with food poisoning for the remaining week of our trip. This was later confirmed by an ER visit upon arriving home in Chicago and a call from IDPH (Illinois department of public health) wanting to know where we traveled and what they ate. Our trip was overshadowed by intense anxiety regarding the health of two of our family members, as well as the constant fear that others would fall ill. As a result, we didn't go on any excursions for the first time. We stayed by their side constantly and became deeply fearful of eating any of the food. After dealing with so many disappointing issues, I’ve shortened this review into bullet points and provided photos to illustrate them. • Hotel room 429 had a missing desk chair and corner accent chair • Room 110 had a loose toilet seat that was “fixed” with white paste that did not secure the toilet seat • Food left outside hotel rooms and tables outside of elevator for 24 hours • Bars closed due to lack of staffing • The golf cart driver mentioned she restarted working for the company (the day before) after being begged to work for them again because they were desperate for staff • Everything was self-serve • Not enough staff at the buffet to weigh tables • Due to lack of staff, guests at the buffet were forced to take utensils from other tables and serve their own drinks • The cups used at the bar to make drinks were soaked in soap water in the sink and occasionally washed with a scrub by the bar tenders • Quality of drinks were awful! Bartenders were inexperienced and could not put together a basic drink • Room 120 was not consistently cleaned or re-stocked with toiletries • Despite asking when restaurants are open to formulate a plan for dinner, Thursday all restaurants closed except Oceana because without warning the hotel used barefoot grill to cook out • Mold appearing spots on umbrellas at poolside • Bathrooms near buffet smelled of sewer, were unkept with garbage’s full of trash due to a sign that states not to flush toilet paper down the toilet • Room 227 had loose bathroom knobs • The pool was consistently cloudy and not maintained • Common answers to our questions were “I don’t know” or “we don’t have that” It is crucial to note that our experience was not an isolated incident; there was a widespread uproar among the guests, many of whom were actively lodging similar complaints about the exact same systemic failures. So much so that guests were transferred to sister hotel Zoetry due to lack of functional hotel rooms air conditioning and overall functionality of hotel and food safety.

  Disappointed 1.5/5 rating

  I will share the positive parts of my experience first. The views are breathtaking from basically any angle and the staff was amazing! Unfortunately the negatives were so overwhelming I placed the positives first. The plastic glasses the drinks were served in appeared to have a filmy unclean appearance. There were no wash clothes and many of our party had that issue. The public restroom for females in the main lobby had not working locks on the stall doors. There was bird poop all over the chairs and tables at the second bar that opened at 12. The bathroom door in out room was off the hinge causing us to lift to close. There was some type of matted hair on our balcony. The bathroom mirror was chipped with a run down appearance. There was a shower curtain up but you could visibly see the old rings were still up.

  Avoid this place

  Disappointed is an understatement. We paid a premium to stay as Preferred Club guests at Dreams Curaçao Resort, Spa & Casino (@DreamsCuracao) and brought friends with us, expecting elevated service. Instead, it has been an absolute nightmare. Our room wasn’t ready until 5:30 PM . When we asked to speak to a supervisor, the front desk lied to our faces, saying he was in a meeting with no end time. The air conditioner doesn’t work in our freinds room. We have begged the staff TWICE to fix it, and we are being completely ignored.Rooms need to be renovated, furniture is broken, safe is sitting on a shelf not attached to anything, mold in the bathroom. We asked to help us to move umbrella by the pool area because where we were sitting a game starts, we wanted to move. The pool guys said we need to ask supervisor if we can move small umbrella and did nothing. This is not our first time to go to resorts, never met a rule that to move umbrella needs to have a permission of supervisor, who even never came, probably even never heard about the issue. What is a huge problem that nobody from the staff cares about you and try to help you. General manager in Mexico, didn’t want to talk to as. Night supervisor after two days of torture trying to do something but we don’t need anything from them now. We want the vacation to be over and forget the nightmare. Do not come here!

  Disappointing resort experience — this property desperately needs renovation and attention

  We stayed at Dreams Curaçao and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The issues were not limited to one isolated incident; there were recurring problems with the room, cleanliness, food safety, service, and overall attention to guests. In its current condition, this property desperately needs significant renovation, maintenance, and management attention. The room: Our room had a stained lamp shade, broken tiles, a missing drain component in the bathroom sink, and a stained toilet seat. The bathroom had a strong musty smell, and when looking up at the ceiling, we noticed black buildup/staining on multiple ceiling tiles. Most concerning, the shower drain was completely clogged and would not drain at all. We reported the shower issue and asked if there was any available room we could move to, including an upgrade. We were told the resort was fully booked. We were not offered an alternative place to shower while waiting, and maintenance took approximately an hour to resolve the problem. A shower that cannot drain should never make it through a room inspection. Food and allergy concerns: My wife has a severe seafood allergy and is gluten-free, so accurate allergen information is extremely important. At the Crafty Iguana, we specifically requested an allergen menu and were told there wasn't one. The menus did not provide sufficient allergen information, which made dining stressful because we could not confidently determine what was safe. The Preferred Club was also disappointing. The Hyatt app indicated that Preferred guests had access to the Mediterranean restaurant, but we were told we did not. The Preferred Club had very limited food, was largely self-service, and did not provide adequate allergen information. Pool and cleanliness concerns: One incident was particularly alarming. A guest vomited in the pool, and we watched staff fail to meaningfully address the situation. A glass that the guest had partially vomited into was left sitting poolside for approximately an hour. There was also visible vomit floating in the pool, and we did not observe the pool being closed or appropriately treated during that time. Regardless of the proper protocol for a pool contamination incident, allowing guests to continue using a pool with vomit visibly floating in it while the situation remained unaddressed was extremely concerning. More generally, dirty dishes and glasses were routinely left sitting around the resort for hours, including on the ground, while birds flew throughout the property. Service and resort operations: Service throughout the resort felt consistently inattentive. Staff frequently walked past without saying hello or good morning. There were no straws provided with drinks, and the drink menus available were essentially pool menus rather than appropriate drink menus for the other resort areas. At the bar, ESPN was the only channel playing despite multiple U.S. sporting events happening. We are World of Hyatt Globalists and received no meaningful recognition or upgrade. We had also noted our anniversary in our reservation and contacted the resort in advance, but I mention this only as another example of the broader lack of attention to guests. A manager later told us he would do something special, but nothing came of it. We understand that no resort is perfect and that individual issues happen. What was disappointing here was the pattern: room-readiness problems, visible maintenance issues, cleanliness concerns, inadequate allergy information, limited Preferred Club offerings, poor follow-through, and a general lack of attentive service. This property needs significant renovation, maintenance, and management attention. The condition and operation of the resort do not currently reflect the standard we would expect from a Hyatt property. In its current state, I would strongly recommend that management address these issues before continuing to present the resort as a quality Hyatt vacation destination. Unfortunately, based on our experience, this is not a property we would choose again.
