Beautiful Resort, Great Food — But Major Accessibility Challenges
TL;DR Beautiful resort with excellent food and kind staff, but the steep, spread-out layout makes it very difficult for guests with mobility issues, chronic pain, or heart conditions. Not a good choice if walking uphill, stairs, and uneven surfaces are a challenge. ⸻ Beautiful resort, great food — but very challenging for mobility issues We stayed at Dreams Bahía Mita for 7 nights as a family trip for a wedding. The resort is visually beautiful, the staff are kind and helpful, and food quality is excellent — but there are important limitations to be aware of. We stayed in a Junior “Tropical” Suite, which is marketed as overlooking tropical forest. In reality, the forest has been cleared for new condo construction, so there was nothing tropical about the view. Construction ran roughly from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It was noticeable but not overly disruptive. The room itself was spacious, clean once serviced, and large enough for two people, with a pull-out couch available. The balcony was pleasant in the afternoon sun but not quiet. The king bed and “orthopaedic” memory foam pillows were very firm. For guests who like strong support, this may be fine. I prefer a softer bed and pillows, but concierge delivered a much softer pillow within 30 minutes, which was excellent service. Noise was an issue in the evenings. Our room was located above the central entertainment area (rock night, karaoke, etc.). Walls and doors muffled sound somewhat, but earplugs or earbuds were helpful. Entertainment does end by 11 p.m. The biggest drawback of this resort is mobility and accessibility. This resort requires a great deal of walking, both uphill and downhill, and is built on a steep hill with the beach at the lowest level. Walking surfaces vary widely (stone slabs, brick, concrete), steps are inconsistent in height and depth, and even the accessible ramps are unpredictable. Distances between rooms, restaurants, pools, and the beach are long, and returning uphill is physically demanding. While we found two elevators that helped reach restaurant and pool levels, there is no elevator that takes you directly to the beach or the spa. Even with elevator use, reaching the beach still required navigating multiple levels on foot. This was extremely challenging for me due to fibromyalgia and heart issues, and for my mother-in-law, who uses a cane. The resort design made it difficult to relax or fully enjoy the amenities without constant physical strain. Food was a highlight. Seaside Grill and the Patio were excellent for dinner after 6 p.m., with truly delicious food. However, menus do not change, and some restaurants have only two main course options, which becomes limiting over a longer stay. The resort was very busy during the day. Pools were crowded, chairs were often reserved early, and pool areas felt hectic. Quieter times were early mornings and later evenings, especially near the beach rather than the central entertainment area. In terms of value, if you don’t eat or drink heavily — and especially if you have mobility limitations, chronic pain conditions, heat intolerance, or heart-related issues — this resort is unlikely to feel worth the price. Overall: A beautiful property with excellent staff and food, but the physical layout is a major barrier. Guests with mobility challenges or chronic health conditions should strongly consider other resorts.

Amazing Resort!!
This is an amazing resort!! Don't hesitate to book here for couples families or groups! Lots of weddings and events but the resort is so spacious that nothing felt crowded. Food was wonderful as well as drinks and selection. They have a large and well equipped fitness center with experienced instructor led classes. The pools are nice, we chose to stay at the beach during the day- there were surfers and even whales breaching. The kayak tours daily came back with stories of seeing whales. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help without being pushy.
