Super star staff
We were disappointed when we arrived late in the evening to be told that our preferred swim up room was on the beach side of the hotel as we had requested if possible to be on the quieter marina side. Concierge Myriam was very helpful and arranged for us to be moved a day later and fellow concierge Emilo very kindly helped us to move our luggage on the day. It is much quieter on this side which suited us however families who enjoy games and loud music were having a good time on the beach side. We were so pleased that this is a non smoking hotel we have had many holidays ruined by selfish smokers who do not stick to designated smoking areas, it was such a pleasure to be smoke free. Our room was comfortable I especially loved the soft pillows( shame I couldn’t fit one into my case) the second room that we had was better set out than the one beach side with a more private bathroom. Yolanda who cleaned our room always worked very hard and kept everything restocked regularly. Although we had a preferred room I cannot say that apart from having the swim up pool we noticed any advantages to a standard room. We had breakfast and lunch in the World cafe Sandra kindly saved us a table near the serving area every day as my husband cannot walk very well and Rosivel was always very helpful and would arrive with our drinks each day without us even having to ask for them. It was always a pleasure to be greeted by Jnathon when he was on duty as he was so cheerful, in fact all the staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful and work very hard. We found evening meals a bit of a challenge, my husband and myself are a fussy pair although our son had a great time trying lots of new dishes. We only ate in three restaurants The Oceana, the Seaside grill and Portafino so it became a bit repetitive. It would have been good if the World cafe had an international buffet a couple of times a week. Having said that the staff in Oceana in particular went out of their way to accommodate us, a special thank you to chef Hirai. We used the gym it wasn’t busy and had all of the equipment that I like to use. We also visited the spa which was lovely but a bit overpriced, I also felt a bit uncomfortable at times as there was a lack of privacy in the changing room with staff ever present. The beach area was ok especially the bar with the swings which had a cooling breeze, comfortable chairs and friendly barman ( sorry didn’t get his name) It was lovely to sit there watching the waves crash on the rocks and relax. I was disappointed that we only got to kayak once during our two weeks there due to the sargassum covering the whole area, the poor workers were losing a fighting battle trying to clear it only to find that the next morning it was back with a vengeance. I don’t think that even if it was cleared that it would be a good area to swim though as it is very shallow and full of large rocks. There is one thing that we were not aware of, you cannot hang a washing line outside your room even though there are hooks for one, we discovered one morning that our costumes and t shirts had been taken down and put on the chairs, why didn’t someone just tell us rather than coming onto our patio and removing them which was very strange. Even so we hope to return to Mexico and Dreams as we love Mexico and the people.

Exceeded Expectations by Far!
Truly blown away! The staff at Dreams Aventuras makes this resort special. From the Preferred Club team: Guillermo, Graciela to name a few, they always went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. The Preferred Club lounge was quaint and perfectly tucked away for a quick drink or snack. The food for an all inclusive was 10/10. Oceana and Portofino were excellent, but every restaurant was great and the service top notch. The bartenders were attentive and friendly; Felipe was great at the pool bar. The swim up bar stayed busy but the bartenders were up to the task. The rooms were comfortable, clean and our Family Room was spacious. The pools were great - it was nice to have the fun family pool and then escape later in the afternoon for the more quiet Preferred pool. Unfortunately, the sargassum at the resort was bad during our stay, but this was to no fault of the resort or staff. They worked tirelessly to keep the beach area and water as pristine as possible. The grounds were clean and the staff worked hard all day to keep the pools clean and the grounds tidy. The size of this resort is perfect and it was well thought out. Thank you so much Dreams Aventuras team. While we are believed to be pretty picky travelers, you exceeded our expectations!

Underwhelming for a 4.5 star Dreams resort
For context, this was our first time at this resort. It was our 8th time visiting Mexico. We have stayed at 3 Hyatt inclusive properties. Overall I would rate this resort a 4*. The Good: The à la cartes were quite good, especially the Italian and Sushi restaurants. The resort and room were clean and the bathroom large. The staff work very hard in all areas. The fire show was very unique and well done. The Less Good: The beach is unswimmable because at this time of year the sargassum is so bad it smells like rotten fish and sewage. If you are hoping for beautiful blue water you won’t get that. There is nowhere to swim in the ocean anywhere near this resort. If that is important to you, consider staying in Costa Mujeres, Isla Mujeres or Cozumel. The buffet had some options and you won’t go hungry, but not at the same level as an Iberostar, Riu or Gran Bahía. All of the activities are family-friendly and child-encouraged, including the evening dance parties and bar nights, so if you are not bringing kids and seeking adults-only activities, you may find there are few options.

Enjoyable weekend at Dreams Aventuras Rivera Mya
We stayed here to attend our nephews wedding. This resort exceeded my expectations. As soon as we arrived, someone greeted us and took our information. I felt the hotel and surrounding area was very safe as there were 2 guard houses we went thru. We booked a preferred club marina view room so we had added benefits of the preferred club which I liked. The wedding venue was wonderful. The food there and the restaurants we visited was also very good/excellevt. All staff on site were helpful, friendly and accommodating. I definitely would recommend staying at this hotel to anyone who wanted to visit this part of Mexico.

Buyer Beware - Dream Aventuras Riviera Maya
I will start with what we liked about the Dreams Puerto Aventuras. We enjoyed most of the workers in the restaurants, they worked very hard to serve us well. We also enjoyed walking to local eateries and markets that was close to the resort. The property is older and in my opinion, I have been to other resorts that are much nicer and have more amenities and food options. The pools are small and were not cleaned very often which made the pool experience a downer. We couldn't do anything by the lagoon due to a huge build up of seaweed so we depended on the pools to satisfy our swimming needs and it was underwhelming. There is a sand beach near the lagoon that has chairs to sit in but the sand was very hard and upon inspection, it was a concrete base that they just poured sand over the top to create a beach. Room service was slow and they didn't communicate very well when we asked for updates. Also, another reviewer mentioned a Vacation Club sales pitch at Dreams Tulum. This is 100% accurate. Dreams Aventuras knew we were disappointed in the pools so they said we could go enjoy Dreams Tulum for a day for free and use their pools and beach and food and drink. When we got to Dreams Tulum one morning, they told us that me, my wife, and my 3 kids had to go on a guided tour and also sit through a 45 minute sales presentation on their Vacation Club to try to get us to buy a vacation club package. They would not allow my kids to use the pools or beach until the whole presentation was completed. I was so upset that we left and got a taxi back to our resort. I will never stay at this property again simply because I just think other resorts offer a better value for your money. If you are looking at staying at this resort, I highly recommend you look at all your options and reading reviews before making a decision.
