    Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs! We have just arrived and appalled at what we faced when we walked into what they are calling their ‘buffet’ restaurant! Let’s say cold meals on wheels! After travelling (with a 3 year old) for over 20 hours, we were served cold, below average food, in a hall with some temporary tables and silver platters on wheels! Not luxury or even average service. When queried we were told that this is the main place for dinner and breakfast and if we wanted better we could upgrade to adults only….erm we have a 3 year old with us!!! Safe to say we have not unpacked and have no intention of staying here!!! Whilst we understand the change of hands TUI have not communicated the sorry state of the hotel restaurant since the change of hands. As a family of 5 who paid a significant amount of money for this holiday it’s unfair that we were misled into thinking we were staying at what they described as a ‘luxury 5 star experience’. Sadly whilst the location looks beautiful just 24 hours in we have been left with, let’s say, ‘a bad taste in our mouths’. Very poor on TUI’s behalf and embarrassing that a hotel feels it’s acceptable to be open with the food they are presenting. If you are booked to come, I would strongly reconsider!

Nice resort but with issues that should be easy fixes.

Our family of three is here for a week (day 5!) and we’re really enjoying ourselves. Pros and cons: Pros - Suite layout is great (we intentionally did not stay in the family section which is really far removed from the rest of the resort.) - Crystal clear, warm ocean water. - Zero seaweed. - Beach security do their job and are always there. - Good food and lots of selection. Seaside Grill was the best of them but the buffet was good a lot of the time, too. - Weather has been excellent every day, with only a couple of rain showers that lasted maybe 30 minutes total. Cons - No bread toaster in buffet restaurant! (Small thing , but… seriously?! We thought this was ridiculous.) - No designated smoking sections, and the smokers are everywhere. This was very frustrating for us, especially as we have a seven year old. This fact alone pretty much locked in that we won’t be coming back here. - Staff everywhere, but it still takes 20-30 minutes to receive a drink order. - Speaking of staff, half of them look genuinely miserable and it’s directly reflected in their service attitude. - The amplified volume of their daily events is way, way over the top (and I’m a thrash / hard rock drummer). - It’s a nice beach but it is very small and felt overcrowded. - There seemed to more “Preferred Club” guests than there are “regular” guests. This sort of makes the cost and benefits of the Preferred Club extras a moot point and sorta comical. - The resort shows its age in some respects. One of our bedside lamps was broken, water didn’t drain properly in the shower, chipped plates in the buffet restaurant- stuff like that. Not deal breakers but still… that stuff impacts your perspective. I could go on. We’ll definitely be back to La Romana but not to this resort.

    Average overall experience

The beach was absolutely beautiful as expected. We enjoyed the layout of the resort. It was very easy to get around and find everything very easily. We have stayed at different Dreams locations and this was our most disappointing when it came to food selection and overall service experience. Now to the most positive part of our vacation, it was Elvis our assigned butler. He was amazing and made it so worth the upgrade to preferred. We have done preferred in the past and at other Dreams resorts didn't really feel the preferred was worth it but we sure did with Elvis!

    Would not recommend staying

room was subpar. Food was terrible. We all got food poisoning drink drinks we’re mid. The housekeeping, barely ever came and would not give us new towels. The pool did not have towels every day.

Beautiful resort. Beware of food borne illnesses

Beautiful resort with everything you may need: beaches, pools, entertainment, water sports, bars, disco and food. Visitors can find pools that are quiet. Smokers were plentiful which was annoying at the beach and the pool. Almost everyone in our 30 plus group got ill from the food or water. Food choices were subpar. Check in process was a bit rushed. We weren’t informed of the app which would have been helpful. We didn’t know we were Select Preferred customers which had several perks.
