Great family vacation at Divi Phoenix
Our first time to Aruba (family of 3... 2 adults and one teen)... we arrived in mid-July 2020 just after the island opened to US tourists during the "COVID Era". As a result, we had the resort practically to ourselves! The hotel staff all more masks (though I felt bad for them... it looked so hot) and I felt like everyone was doing all they could to make sure everything was clean and sanitized. The room seemed very clean when we showed up... we had a very nice 1 bedroom suite in the new tower (building 7 I think) complete with a furnished kitchen and balcony overlooking the pool and the ocean... a remarkable view! I saw them spraying/cleaning off chairs and the pool area thoroughly every morning. When we got chairs/loungers from the beach guy, he disinfected them before setting them up for us. Same at the eateries there. I think they did all they could to keep everything well sanitized. You can tell it's very important to them to prevent COVID spread. A big shout out to Walter Ibanez, whose service over the course of our 6-night stay was nothing short of outstanding! Loved the pool... the drinks are nothing to write home about but... hey you're in Aruba at a gorgeous pool and everything is beautiful so just shut up and drink your drinks! :) The beach front is wonderful too... we did some snorkeling right there and saw lots of great stuff! The food at the restaurants was very good though we went out for a lot of meals since the resort is a short walk from an area with lots of restaurants. Unfortunately, since the resort just opened, a few amenities were not available yet, such as the little store but that's ok... simple workarounds to get everything one needs and it was worth it to have the place to ourselves! We loved all of the little whiptail lizards and the Iguanas that hung out with us by the pool. We wished we had them in NH but oh well... we'll settle for our squirrels.
First time at Divi Phoenix
First time at the Divi Phoenix and we loved the hotel layout and very nice rooms. We had a room on first floor steps from the pool and beach, what a great location. Also loved how it was less 'busy' than the section we usually stay at (Marriott Stellaris). My one complaint is the lack of follow up on Management. We had to swap out the washer/dryer 3 times (the 4th unit worked). I understand we are in a pandemic so units break/malfunction. But, after the 3rd unit broke I informed the front desk I wanted to discuss with a manager. They said the manager would call back and never did. Also, we had to call back a couple of other times when we asked for items like and extra blanket. Again, I understand they are just getting back and maybe be short staffed... I get all that. But, follow up is important. Anyway, other than the washer/dryer 'issue' we loved the resort and everyone was very friendly. I would absolutely stay here again.
Makes an Enjoyable Trip
My family and I have stayed at this hotel every January for the past fifteen years. We could not be happier with the location, private beach, clean rooms, and many activities. There are plenty of things for guests of all ages to enjoy. We love how close to the beach the hotel is. We switch between the pool and the beach all day and have never felt the need to leave the hotel. The pool bar even makes virgin drinks for kids. We like how the Divi Phoenix is at the end of the strip, as it gives the beach and pool more privacy. Overall, we always have a lovely stay.
Clean, friendly and attentive staff.
--Rooms, mostly Ocean View, are close to everything on the resort. --Pools, Restaurants, Cafes, Convenience stores, Bars and Work Out facilities at your fingertips with a variety of nightly Entertainment. --ALL FOOD GREAT! --ESPECIALLY--THE HAPPY HOUR DRINKS AND NIGHTLY GET TOGETHERS!! Really Nice to relax and enjoy the camaraderie with Great Staff and other Tourists. --Cheap Bus or Taxi at the door to almost anywhere on the Island, including several nearby shopping areas, entertainment venues, casinos and restaurants or with just a short walking distance to most. --DOWNTOWN-(short cheap bus ride) Fun place to visit where the cruise ships are in and out daily, with passengers and other tourists mingling about with tons of sites to see (tours ) or just strolling around. Several places to eat, have drinks or have fun at many of the Casinos. As per well known Travel Advisories, Aruba is Rated worldwide as one of the best places to visit. It is NOT in a Hurricane Zone, no Political Unrest, minimal Violence, or Theft and is mainly Sunny, Warm and BEAUTIFUL year round. We have been to Aruba 3 times, and will definitely go back once our world as we know it with Covid 19, goes away and let's us enjoy travelling again.
Keeps Getting Better and Better
From check-in to check-out, and the white sand beach in between, our stay, although cut short two weeks by the Coronavirus pandemic, at the Divi Phoenix was nothing short of fantastic. The total treatment received by all employees can best be described as it felt like we were the only people there. Ramon Statie and his beach/pool team that includes Marckenzy Gabriel, Julio Rodriguez ( Julio 1), Ariel Ramirez and Julio 2, go about their jobs with constant smiles, always affable and gregarious. Each one can never do enough for you. They are simply the very best! Checking in was smooth…Jairon Held greeted us with an ear-to-ear smile and promptly assigned our room, programed the wristbands and we were on our way. Along the way a gentleman came up to us and introduced himself, checking to make sure everything was pleasant so far and offering his assistance for anything we might need during our stay. Hansel Pineda was his name. He’s a great addition to the Divi Phoenix management team. Never before at any resort/hotel have we had management check to make sure the room was to our satisfaction. Chido Geerman, who is the head of the housekeepers, asked the question. You could tell Mr. Geerman sincerely cares, and while the room was perfect and available when promised, he was another that offered his assistance during our stay. Our stay, although “marred” by the Coronavirus pandemic, was great. The staff was great, the room was very clean and accomodating, the beach perfectly manicured, the new beach lounges a welcome addition and it all added up to what we’ve found over the years to be the best resort on Aruba —- Divi Phoenix Beach Resort.
