Beautiful Resort with Great Staff — Dinner Options Need Improvement

We just wrapped up our stay, and overall I’d describe this resort as beautiful with great potential, but with some growing pains, especially around dining. Overall Atmosphere & Resort: The property itself is gorgeous, with a very open, outdoor layout. Most bars and restaurants are open-air, which gives it a relaxed, tropical feel. The views are beautiful, and the resort feels modern and well designed. It’s also in a great location — being so close to 5th Avenue is convenient for shopping and dining (although it also highlights some of the limitations of the all-inclusive dining). It’s worth noting this resort is newly converted to an all-inclusive, and you can definitely feel that they’re still working some things out. Service & Staff: There were some truly standout employees: Roberto at the lobby bar was fantastic — friendly, great cocktails, and really elevated the experience. Ignacio at the Italian restaurant was excellent and very accommodating. Pool service was consistently quick and attentive. You can tell many staff members genuinely care and try hard — which makes some of the service inconsistencies more frustrating, because the potential is absolutely there. Food & Dining (The Biggest Mixed Bag) This is where our experience really varied. The good: The steakhouse was excellent both times we went — great food and overall experience. Pool food (sandwiches, chicken, hummus) were very good and consistent. Italian lunch was fantastic — pizza was great, service was attentive, and menu options were great during the day. Room service was okay — nothing special, but fine late at night. Starbucks on-site is a huge plus and honestly a highlight for mornings. The challenges: Dinner options are very limited, especially if you don’t eat seafood. Many restaurants are seafood-heavy, and substitutions were often not allowed. At the Mexican restaurant, nearly the entire menu was seafood and substitutions (even basic ones like chicken instead of shrimp) were refused. One dish that I was able to order (as it wasn't listed as seafood), ended up containing shrimp that wasn’t listed on the menu. If you love seafood, you’ll probably be happy. If you don’t, your dinner options will feel very restrictive. Pool & Beach: Pool service was great. However, the chair-saving game is real — by 8 AM many seats were already taken. The beach is public and fairly busy, and the water can be darker with seaweed. The smell from the seaweed was noticeable at first, though it did improve or we got used to it. Spa The spa was amazing — truly one of the highlights of the trip. Massage was excellent Hydrotherapy circuit was fantastic Very relaxing and well done If you’re staying here, the spa is absolutely worth it. Final Thoughts: This resort has a lot of potential, and when things are good, they’re really good. However, the biggest drawback is the limited and inflexible dinner options, especially for non-seafood eaters. That was the most consistent frustration of the trip. That said: Staff were mostly wonderful Spa and pool experiences were excellent Steakhouse and lunch options were great Resort is beautiful and relaxing If they expand dinner menus and improve flexibility, this could easily be a 5-star experience.

    Great Experience

Our stay at Devossion by Live Aqua was incredible. Our butler team, Martin and Guillermo, went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed. They were very friendly and checked in with us frequently to make sure we were happy. They even surprised is with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries on our last day for our honeymoon. Special shout out to Santos at the Italian restaurant as well for taking great care of us as well! Our room was beautiful with an ocean view and our very own plunge pool, waterfall shower, and soaker tub. Overall we would 10/10 recommend staying at this resort and hope we can make it back again one day!

A Truly Exceptional Stay at the Brand-New Live Aqua Devossion!

I had the honor of being one of the very first guests to experience the brand-new Live Aqua Devossion, and let me tell you — I was thoroughly impressed! This resort is an absolute 10 out of 10 experience and easily exceeds expectations for a 4.5-star property. Service – 10/10 The service here sets a new standard of excellence. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly greeted, and throughout my stay, the staff went above and beyond at every turn. A heartfelt thank you to these incredible team members who made my experience unforgettable: Alam Camacho, Director of Guest Relations Rodrigo, Director of Operations Jorge, VIP Manager Erika, Director of Sales Ana, Director of Groups Ruben, Manager at the fabulous lunch restaurant Hector, Head of Cabanas & America, Pool Service Lalo, Bartender at the Steakhouse Each one delivered impeccable hospitality — true Posadas rockstars! Property & Grounds – 8/10 The property is lush and vibrant, with tropical palms and beautifully designed architecture that stands out. A wonderful mix of modern style and natural serenity. Pools – 9/10 The oceanfront pools are stunning, offering perfect views of the sea. The only reason I didn’t give a full 10 is because this isn’t the place for those seeking a super quiet pool — there’s always a lively, fun energy here. Beach – 6/10 The resort has installed a protective barrier to help reduce seaweed, and there are areas where the water is calm, blue, and great for floating. The lower tide makes it easy to wade and relax. Dining – 10/10 Dining here is next-level. Forget the typical all-inclusive menus — each restaurant has curated offerings prepared by talented chefs who clearly take pride in their craft. Every meal was a delight. Spa – 10/10 Absolutely incredible! The spa features a unique cenote-inspired relaxation area that’s both serene and visually stunning. You’ll never want to leave — just check out my photos! Rooms – 7/10 The rooms are clean, new, and comfortable with fantastic rain showers and soaking tubs. Décor leans more minimalist, but still very nice. My only suggestions: adding in-room laptops for service/entertainment access and providing liquid hand soap would be a thoughtful touch. Location – 10/10 The location couldn’t be better — right next to the Ritz-Carlton in downtown Playa del Carmen. You’re just steps away from local shopping, dining, and nightlife, plus close to the Cozumel ferry for an easy island day trip. Overall: A phenomenal experience from start to finish! Huge thanks to the amazing Posadas team for creating such a memorable stay. I can’t wait to return — Live Aqua Devossion has officially set a new bar for luxury in Playa del Carmen!

    Exquisite!

Devossion is an outstanding resort. My room had a beautiful view (as requested). The very spacious bathroom had all amenities and a lovely rainfall shower. Housekeeping did an excellent job picking up after me! The restaurants were impressive including a delicious breakfast buffet with prompt refills on coffee. The Italian restaurant had exquisite meal choices and excellent service. Above all, this adult only resort had an amazing ambiance with many pool side venues and great non aggressive servers. The beach, itself, was pristine. Special kudos for the music played. Always at a perfect volume and beautifully choreographed. I appreciated the effort made by the staff to ensure only hotel guests were allowed. I felt very safe at Devossion. Devossion is very close to all sorts of shopping for all economic levels.
