    Amazing review

I absolutely loved my vacation here I work in hotels and this place should be the standard, treated me as if I was her best friend and was the queen of the bar. Brandon was the best bartender at the beach – Dash was the best server at the beach always personalizing our orders and remembered our name each day Isac Fernando, Susana, Victor and Pablo were great as well. Every employee at this property goes above and beyond can’t wait to come back. Also fransisco the best valet there is always make sure you go to him. He will take you home.

    Bait and switch

We booked and paid for Occidental nuevo and little did we know they did a little bait and switch and booked us at delta Marriott. So we are an hour away from puerto vallarta, in the jungle instead of beach front hotel. So we are secluded from everything. The pools are cold and the hot tub is luke warm. The food is awful and cold. The drinks are also not good. Limited variety of alcohol and none of which I like. So much for a fun all inclusive vacation.

    Loved it

We loved our stay at this resort. The food at the al a carte restaurants was great, and the drinks were also very good. The service was wonderful, the staff are friendly and personable. The Entertainment staff - Lourdes and another woman (can't remember her name) were amazing. Our kids also loved the kids club and the staff were friendly and involved with the kids. We hope to go back soon.

Amazing resort being held down by a couple of big flaws. Could easily be a 5/5 but it isn’t

This is a hard resort to rate because My family and I overall loved our stay here but we do wish some things were changed to make our experience overall better. Starting with the most important thing for me, the food. The food is very hit or miss here. I had some absolutely great meals and a lot of meh ones. Everything they cooked fresh was great and the buffet food was normally either just good, meh or straight up gross. The key here is showing up right when the restaurant opens. The food is hot and tastes way better. This place seems to be a little understaffed and needs some expansion work done in many areas. If you don’t show up at a restaurant when they open, expect to wait 20-30ish mins to be seated, and once in the restaurant expect to wait about 10 mins in line to get the freshly made food. If you show up right when they open all of these are non-issues. This resort is not next to the beach so it makes up for it by having a ton of different pools to chill out by. Normally at resorts the pools get overcrowded because there’s just one, but here I never felt that way. You still have to be on the move and early to find seating, but you’ll have that problem at every resort you visit. The pools I swam in were heated and the Medi Luna pool had good food. When you want to go to the beach the resort offers a shuttle service to go down to a sectioned off area. Just like everywhere else though if you want to go to the beach here, go as soon as they open up. You’ll want to grab a seat before other people and you DO NOT want to get stuck waiting in line for the shuttle coming home. Some people of my family went to the beach around 12 and tried to make it back for our dinner reservation but got stuck in the hot sun waiting in line for a shuttle for 30 mins. Very very bad. This could have been avoided if we showed up early, relaxed and enjoyed the beach, and left around 12-1. I love the Pantry which is a 24/7 food pantry with cereal fruit, ice cream, sandwiches, snacks, chips, ramen, etc. more resorts should include things like this. The rooms were pretty good. The place I stayed had felt a little old but the beds were comfy, the rooms were clean, and there wasn’t too much to complain about. They aren’t top tier luxury but they were nice and I liked them.
