Continuous Flow of People
My review of this all-inclusive resort is mixed. Pros: 1. The staff especially in the buffet restaurant were nice and helpful especially Luis and Maria. Bring a small change and tip the servers and maids even though this is an al-inclusive resort. 2. Our mini refrigerator in the room was stacked with water and drinks. 3. There were several bilingual staff like Carlos Miranda, the Hospitality Manager who gave us information on the Decameron Beach area and warned us on the constant vendors and massage women bothering you. 4. It's all worth it the $32 per person to take the shuttle to Decameron Baru with beautiful beach in the calm, clear, turquoise water caribbean sea with white sands. 5. We like it very much the huge selections of fruits in the morning for breakfast. Our favorite restaurants are the seafood and the Italian and loved the whole fried red snappers. Cons: 1. Nobody in entertainment staff can speak English so we were lost what they were saying. 2. Nobody in the tour office can speak english to explain the different tours for us. 3. There were no activities written that were issued everyday. 4. This resort is not applicable to handicapped since there are no elevators going to the restaurants either climb or down the stairs 5. Everyday there was a constant flow of local people with different colors of bracelet and wondering how security can keep up. We recommend to anyone who would visit this country to learn a little spanish to enjoy more what the country can offer.
Not even in our room yet and this is horrific. Rude staff, disgusting lobby, and no customer service efforts whatsoever. There are many options in Cartagena - DO NOT STAY HERE! The sign stating that checkin is at 3pm is incorrect - it’s actually 3-5pm. Of course they will strictly enforce the 12pm checkout... Don’t let this place ruin your vacation. You and you hard-earned money deserve better.
A pleasant surprise
My my boyfriend surprised me by taking me to this hotel during Thanksgiving week. I was hesitant because it said that it was a 3.5 star hotel. A good friend of mine from Columbia told me that it was a nice hotel and that I would have a good time. I was pleasantly surprised. Very clean, very friendly, perfect location. I just want to thank all of the staff for their outstanding service and attentiveness. My boyfriend surprise me and proposed to me in front of everyone the night before we left. Special mention to the following who made our entire week’s stay fantastic and definitely a 5 star experience: Richard taxi driver, lvan Castro (camarero), danilsa lara(camarera), Raúl Medrano( bartender) y Carlos Hurtado valdelamar (coordinador de actividades). We plan to return for our honeymoon. Sincerely, Rafi and Sheila Diaz
ups and downs.
This seems to be an older hotel that was refurbished. It has some derelict high rise neighbors, but otherwise sits in a good location right next to the beach, and on the more touristy side of town. 22 floors. The first room given us on the 21st floor had an ocean view but was otherwise horrible. We complained and were moved to a room a floor lower that was in much better condition. It also had a nicer ocean view, but still was small and didn't have its own thermostat control. This hotel has a dinky pool, one small cafeteria with adjacent show area, three a la carte restaurants (Italian, Mexican, Steakhouse), and a disco. The food selections were very limited, but better than I expected. I enjoyed my meal at both the steakhouse and the Italian restaurant. Despite the many floors, the elevators were quick to arrive and fast moving, if a bit on the small side (like everything else). Upper floor walkways are open air. We didn't watch the evening show, but saw the dancers practice beforehand, and they seemed very good and hard-working.
Go somewhere else !
I stayed here with my wife for a couple of days. Before I mention some of the reasons why you should go somewhere else, I’d like to point out that the service we received in the steak restaurant was great, they were the only people that really tried to make us feel comfortable, so I’d like to congratulate and thank them. Now the aspects I really find a shame: 1- Multivacaciones (a sort of time sharing company) staff is so annoying you end up being rude and simply ignoring them. It is really upsetting and uncomfortable not being able to sit down in the lobby, to walk to your room after having breakfast or lunch, or even being anywhere at the hotel, these guys will insist so much that your stay gets spoiled. 2- Most people at the front desk don’t even try to smile when you approach them, there’s no attempt to make you feel like you are welcome. 3- Food quality is really poor. We only enjoyed our dinner at the steak place, apart from it, we had to have lunch somewhere else as the options were not tasty at all. Breakfast was nothing to write home about. 4- Alcoholic beverages are the cheapest quality, they sell you the idea that you’ll find options from around the world, and you probably will, the cheapest of them all. 5- You have to pay to use the safe, an old, rusty box. I have visited many hotels in different countries and this is probably the second time I see such illogical thing, like you’re not paying enough to have access to it. 6- There’s no mini bar, so if you buy something in case you’re thirsty in the middle of the night or even to make up for the cheap options they offer at the bar, there’s no place where you can put it. 7. The facilities are old, very old and not well maintained. All in all this is not a good place to stay, you should go somewhere else, the same area is full of nice hotels where you can have a much better time almost at the same price. I unfortunately bought one of those multivacaciones plans years ago, so I’m kind of forced to continue using their services.
