An overall positive experience, despite a few issues

Couples Tower Isle had some really awesome aspects, but it also fell short at times including: service and overall appearance/upkeep. I have only visited a handful of all inclusive resorts, all at various islands in the Caribbean. They share many commonalities, like ocean views, beautiful lobbies, buffets and a variety of activities for guests. Couples is unique in that it has a nude island, which turned out (surprisingly) to be our favorite space as it had the best views, breeze and was the least crowded. This space is a large reason I rate this resort as a four rather than a three. In my limited experience, I think that CTI has work they can and should do in order to provide a better experience for their guests. The resort itself is in need of some updating and general upkeep. While there are for sure a lot of beautiful spaces, there are also dingy carpets in poorly lit hallways. The AC in our room never could cool the room much until nightfall and even still, it was rather warm. We did ask about it, someone came out to “look” but nothing was changed or “fixed”. The furniture, bathroom, exterior doors and windows definitely showed their age and are not what I have come to expect at a five star resort. There were scratches and scuffs on surfaces, the door to the patio did not shut/stay shut, a bathroom window was tied “shut” with a ribbon, tiles were cracked and grout around the tub and very small shower was dark and dingy. The food was good overall. However, I was disappointed that some of the foods listed on their online menus were never actually available and when I asked about lion fish, I was told at two different restaurants, that they never had it- unfortunately, I had really been looking forward to trying it. A small thing, but none the less, frustrating. The an availability of food was sometimes an issue as they had times when there was wait periods between one restaurant closing and another one opening. Service was surprising because I had read a lot of very positive reviews. Let me say first, that many of the staff members were very kind, welcoming and so helpful. While others came across as put out that we were there or that we needed something. A couple of encounters with staff were downright rude. I will not mention any names because while the poor experiences were disappointing, none were so bad that someone should need worry about losing their jobs. But I do think it’s worth mentioning that we personally had a few negative interactions that left a bad taste in my mouth.

Love location, is space for improvement on service and hospitality.

Let start with the good things. Eight rivers restaurant is the best, food is amazing definitely there is the hand of executive chef Valentin M. Staff need training, are few amazing and some they don't have a clue. Water Staff, helpful ,friendly, amazing team. Lovely place ,all together. But . If you forget to leave tips you room probably will done poorly. At the bar , grate yang funny team. I dislike the way SOME team leaders treat the staff, or treat the customers, Asian restaurant need attention. Food is not what is named. In general food is not what is named, good but rong named. Lovely location , is space for improvement on service, hospitality.

Ants, ants, ants! - and poor A/C.!

If you choose to stay at Couples Tower Isle be certain you are a fan of ANTS! They are everywhere! They were in our room - both the bathroom and the main room, all around the pools and even on the walls and floors of the main dining room where the buffet is served daily. Part of the problem became evident. The leftover food that sits on the little tables around the pool tables is NOT picked up on an hourly or better pace. We saw some dishes left overnight until the next morning. It's just asking for trouble. We complained to the front desk several times. And each time the rep would tell us they'll contact someone to "spray our room." After 4 attempts in 3 days to get the room rid of ants, we finally walked back in to the smell of some sanitizer...but it did not last. They were back within 6-8 hrs. They need to put TRAPS out and kill the source. Our A/C never cooled the room down to a manageable temp. Despite cranking the thermostat lower, it stayed about 76-77 in our room. We had to sleep on top of the sheets the entire time. As we checked out we spoke with 2 other couples who had endured very similar issues with their rooms. One lady told us she demanded to be moved 3 times and she had ants and the A/C was subpar in each. Just terrible. Why might I have given them 2 stars vs 1? Their staff is amazing. They might be the friendliest bunch of people I have ever endured. Always smiling, always saying "Good morning" and always willing to TRY to help make our trip better. So I summarize that I don't think the employees enjoyed our complaints about the ants or the terrible A/C, but the situation really never got any better. Add to the trip a 2.5 hr drive to the resort from the airport and a 2.0 hr drive back to the airport in Montego Bay. That lengthy shuttle is not advertised, nor welcomed. We will likely never return and that's fine. I really wish I could pick up that staff and bring them with us wherever we go on vacation. They really are that friendly and likeable, but the resort itself has too many issues for us to be willing to repeat that stay.

    First timers at CTI

This was our first trip to CTI but our 12th trip to Jamaica! The ride to the resort is a long one, but we always use our good friend Tomeik Christie from Reggae Island tours on arrival. We got to the hotel a bit early and our room wasn't ready but we received a cool towel and a cold drink. We were able to drop our bags and check out the resorts with friends that we met up with there. We booked garden view because we are never in our room but our garden view turned out to be really pretty one. And we got to see a mockingbird with her babies in a nest right in front of us. The room itself was just right. It was clean and the AC worked great. My only complaint about the room is that the safe was in a bad spot. Between the safe and the shelves that are in the closet, it's a tight squeeze to get to the hangers and after a few drinks, I ended up banging my head on the safe when I bent over to pick up a pair of shoes. So I've moved my shoes to the room. Problem solved. The Food. We ate everywhere except at The Verandah and Veggie bar. We were pleased with the quality of food at the buffet which is where we normally like to eat. I preferred the food at Eight Rivers but Bayside didn't disappoint. Service and quality was great everywhere! The beach was beautiful but due to where the resort is located, the waves were often choppy. Thankfully we were still able to get out on a glass bottom boat ride and a snorkeling trip, both I highly recommend .Another plus about the beach is the red flag system. You put a flag up by your lounger and someone comes to ask what you're drinking! If you're out in the sea, go see the gentleman Mike, who's out on his kayak to buy a souvenir!! The pools were both great. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough loungers in the shade. Drinks.....zero complaints. I always ask for my drinks strong and that's how they were served! Lush grounds at a resort are important to me and CTI did not disappoint. Plenty of flora and fauna, plenty of birds excluding the ones in the cages and we even saw chickens. We didn't do the nature walk that's included as we like to walk around on our own and are already familiar with the names of all the trees and plants. The nightly entertainment was top-notch. The singers were all fantastic! The Silver Birds Steel Drum band are a highlight for us every time we come to Jamaica and the fire show was amazing. The cultural performances blew me away! After reading other reviews I thought this resort would really die down by 10:00 but the guests there the week we were there kept the party going! The sing-along at the piano bar and the karaoke...... What great vibes! We absolutely had a blast. And the Lounge for dancing, I was expecting nobody in there as per some reviews but the place was lit every night! The au natural island....as first timers we were extremely nervous but it really is true what they say...... Go and you know! We forgot we were naked after 5 minutes and the vibes over there were better than on the main beach. We should have listened to other people when they said go early on your trip because you'll want to go back but we waited until the end of our trip and wish we hadn't. If you like your coffee, make sure you hit the cafe. Nothing beats Jamaican coffee!! I forgot to hand in my guest comment card so I am hoping I can mention some standout employees here and they will be recognized! First and foremost..... Terry Ann at Patio. She has a work ethic unlike any other and she is as sweet as can be! I do have to say she'd be an asset anywhere but I think her personality screams bar service due to her personality..... Or even better, the entertainment team! Kinsley in the lobby is a hoot and is very friendly. The whole entertainment team..... Jada, Brittany, who also is an amazing singer, and Rinaldino ( I hope I got the spelling right ). They all do a great job and work tirelessly keeping guests entertained. Tiana and Da man are standouts at the bar, although anybody who's serving me drinks are appreciated. Andrew from the watersports team/pool area, he did a great job keeping the quiet pool serviced and he always made a point to come and chat with us. What a great guy he is, definitely a standout asset to CTI! Donovan, who does general maintenance is also a joy to talk with, and never fails to give a smile and a quick check-in! Also from water sports...... Ariel, Captain Crunch and Captain Roger! Those three in particular, but the whole team are some of our favorites at the resort. And finally, DJ Bourbon. As somebody who absolutely loves dancehall, I am so grateful that he played my requests at Lounge for my dancing pleasure! Will we returned CTI? Absolutely and likely next June for our next anniversary!

    Room With a View!!!

This was our second visit here and it was even better than the first!! This resort has many, many positives and for us, only 2 negatives. The negatives: The beach is not great The water pressure was not good at all. The positives: Room is clean, comfortable and cold!! AC works great, plenty of closet space. Free mini bar. Room service all day!! Our room attendant did a great job. The food is fantastic!! We did not have bad meal anywhere. Everything is so fresh and delicious. Coffee shop 7AM-10PM! Bar service is top notch. Most bartenders have a special drink or shot they invented themselves. Make sure you ask! GO TO THE ISLAND!!! Pools are great. The staff is awesome. So friendly, good morning, how are you, what can I get you etc. Go to the piano bar and get an espresso martini. Fabulous!!!! Resort is small, easy to get everywhere, nothing is more than like a 3 minute walk. Treat yourself to a massage. It was soooo relaxing. Everything is included, food, drink, water sports, catamaran cruise, scuba and no tipping! Plus a lounge at the airport and a free shuttle in a nice cool van to the resort. Make sure you tip your driver, he doesn’t work for Couples. I seriously could go on and on about Tower Isle! Some people that really stood out: Sanjay “Da Man” at the island pool bar. Make sure you have him make you a Jamaican Fire Girl. Yum!!! Kirk the bellman who will start your vacation off on the right foot!! Terry-Ann and Antroy at the Patio, always hustling!! Audrey and Samantha at the spa Devon at Verandah Rashard and Ajay at Bayside, I have an extremely sensitive palate and they made sure my meal was perfect!!
