My family and I stayed at the Catalonia Grand for a week and had a great time. The service was amazing from all the employees, especially Asbel, Sari, Osvaldo and Alexander from the Gran Caribe Buffet.

Warm, Family-Friendly Hotel
Very family-friendly hotel with a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. We felt comfortable from the moment we arrived, especially traveling as a family. A special thanks to Abril, who was so sweet with our daughter!

Very good experience, would come back!
The location is super beautiful, beach is clean, staff are very friendly, rooms are clean and A/C working well. Noise level were good. Great value for the money. Wish there was a tiny bit more amenities but nothing to complain about. Overall thanks for everything.

I highly recommend this resort, but there’s a few things you need to know!I
Exchanging Money Unlike every single other resort I’ve ever been to, including other Catalonia resorts, this is the very first place where there is ABSOLUTELY NO service exchanging money in any way shape or form at the front desk. This is the only poor comment I have about this resort. Unless you bring a sufficient number of American one dollar bills or pesos in small bills, you are constantly chasing wait staff, bell boys and other workers for change. The best currency to take is the Mexican peso. The best rate I got was at my own CIBC bank in Canada. You need 20 and $50 bills in pesos for tipping. The Privileged Romance Suite The higher price for this romance suite package is worth every penny. The room was exquisite. It had a huge soaker tub for two, a big outdoor deck with a pool overlooking gardens and almost full view of the ocean. We were in building four and it seems in that building all the even number rooms overlooked these gardens. If you got an odd number room, your pool would be overlooking the resort swimming pools which could be loud with so many families and children. We had room 4004. Excellent location. On arrival, and on every day after the housekeeper was in and the place was cleaned immaculately. Such a beautiful job they did. The other great thing you get with the privilege romance suite is a hydrotherapy treatment (steam room, sauna, and cold plunge pools), 1/2 hour massage and a very excellent VIP dinner. That VIP dinner was at the restaurant called BeLoved And I got the beef fillet mignon dinner and it was the best beef I’ve ever had anywhere in Mexico and even rivalled Canadian Angus beef tenderloin for flavour and tenderness. An amazing meal. Caution: this is a family resort there are babies everywhere. At the restaurants by the pools at the beach. I could not believe the number of families that travel with newborns and very young children. We did have to move a couple of times as we did not want to listen to screaming children. if you’re not up for that, I would suggest an adult only resort. The drinks were good. The food was great. The pools were clean. The lush gardens were just gorgeous and we loved it.

Everything is great, the food was 100%, everything from the buffet to the special restaurants. Very clean. A true 5 star. Do yourselfs a favor, go see Alexander at the man buffet, a true gentlemen, #1
