  Needs updating

  First impressions of Calabash Cove were pretty good. We arrived to a beautiful sunset and it looked clean and tidy. We were with friends so had 2 rooms. We thought both the rooms were tired and ready for updating. Our bed was creaky and the fitted undersheet didn't fit, the showers are very low on pressure and often not very hot at all, the shower door wouldn't shut properly and the ceiling fan made a terrible noise. The housekeeping was good and cleaned well, however it was missed one day, this was later sorted . Food in the restaurant is average and often things were missing from our order and other hot food was often not very warm. Thankfully we were b&b so only had a couple of evening meals in the hotel. We enjoy walking to shops and restaurants etc but that is really not an option here as the hotel is accessible via a long unmade hilly road so either a hire car or taxi is necessary. Taxis are expensive here and there are no restaurants, bars or shops within easy walking distance and the main road is very busy. The small beach at Calabash Cove is the best part of the hotel, in my opinion, but it isn't actually private and is sometimes accessed by the public, meaning that area isn't adult only. I realise that there are many that keep going back to this hotel year after year so it obviously has its appeal to some. I always leave great reviews if possible and in the last year have stayed in a number of fantastic holiday hotels, but at it's very high price point, sadly this one didn't hit the mark for us.

  Wine was vastly overpriced

  We booked lunch at the restaurant as a great place to take friends visiting St Lucia on a cruise. We have been numerous times before and find the view spectacular which we knew our guests would enjoy. The staff were friendly and efficient . The food was as normal not great but OK. My biggest complaint is the eye watering cost of wine. The cost of US$236 per couple for a four starters (the ladies had two starters) , two mains and two bottles of wine was due to the incredibly high cost of the Minuty wine. The price of this wine was US$107, the cheapest pink wine was US$75 and the other pink wine was $80. We have an apartment at The Landings which is not a cheap resort and Minuty is US$65 a bottle there. You can buy the wine at wine stores in Rodney Bay for EC$60 We all understand that restaurants have make up the price of wine bur $107 for Minuty - come on. I don’t think lunch at Calabash Cove is on the Meuse for some time to come.

  Great spot for an amazing vacation!!

  Amazing stay, location was beautiful, Rooms were clean, staff was fantastic and the food was out of this world!! We enjoyed the private beach and the spa!! Highly recommend Calabash Cove!!

  Relaxing slice of paradise

  Beautiful, relaxing resort with friendly staff. Very quiet and chill. Just what we needed for our getaway. Food was just fair - some good items - and meal service was often very slow.

  Our most relaxing vacation

  We had a swim-up room for 10 nights which included breakfast and airport transfer. We chose not to do the all-inclusive as we don't eat and drink very much. We really can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and the bed was quite comfortable. The small number of total guests, even when sold out, means that nothing is ever crowded. There's always lounge chairs available at the pool and at the beach. There's never a wait to order food or drinks. All of the staff were kind, accommodating and fun to talk with. The grounds are gorgeous and the bay is clean and peaceful. The sunsets are stunning. I actually saw the green flash once. A first in my 56 years. There's only one restaurant but the menu is quite extensive and the food is REALLY good. Honestly it's the best food we've ever had at a resort. We never tired of it and looked forward to meals. We have never stayed at the same resort twice but we would seriously consider returning to Calabash Cove.
