    Even better than expected

I came expecting a tropical anniversary getaway. To my surprise, I found the most beautiful ocean I have ever visited, friends I did not expect to make, staff who made us feel special & became friends, treats at every turn, great evening shows, a new drink to add to my favorites, perfect weather, beach yoga & Zumba, and the reminder of how much I love to dance (with daily opportunities to do so). Other than sometimes spotty wifi, I have never been so sad to leave a vacation. I think I left a little part of my heart at Breathless :).

Breathless Punta Cana - Two thumbs up

We had a fantastic time. View of the ocean from room, starting the day with nespresso from in room, to the openness between Breathless and Dreams. The food was above expectations. Gym facilities 👏 Spa 👏 yoga on the beach! We enjoyed relaxing by the pool all week and everyone at the resort was super friendly. Shout outs to our butler Willie and our coffee queen Daisy.

Mediocre - poor check in process, avg food, good entertainment, loud music even in rooms.

Review Breathless Punta Cana & Dreams Onyx Short version: If you’re deciding between breathless Punta Cana & Dreams Onyx… pick Dreams. Our family trip to celebrate our sons’ college graduations. Booked 2 rooms direct with Hyatt using points with GOH attached to each booking. Overall: Check in/ out process at Breathless is hellacious. Activities people work really hard to keep guests entertained. Pools & drinks are better at Dreams. French restaurant Breathless side was best. Don’t waste any upgrades - they don’t acknowledge. Our trip was early May. There were very few kids at the Onyx. Breathless was more of a party vibe. Detailed review: Breathless: Check in process is HORRIBLE They do not recognize that you have any Hyatt status. It takes about 20 minutes to complete paperwork. Then a concierges walks you over to a service rep - even worse. It’s like it is a time share presentation. An hour in and we still didn’t know our room number. The service rep is bragging about the facility being part of World of Hyatt and wants to tell us all about it - we booked our room on Hyatt points. We know about it. No one here grasps that concept. At this point we are hungry and don’t want to sit there. No reason to have us there. And he wants us to meet him for breakfast the next morning - no thanks. The concierge walks us to our room. He apologizes for the long winded service rep - they know people don’t like it, yet it is the check in process. Terrible. Room Key doesn’t work. Concierges put us & our luggage in our kids room and told us to wait. They had to fix our room lock. Still waiting to go find food. Oh - it’s middle of the afternoon now - after lunch and before dinner 🤷‍♀️ Absolutely zero acknowledgement of globalist status. No room upgrade, even when asked. (And we had emailed 2 weeks in advance). They said we can have late check out for status when I asked the second person. There were MULTIPLE upgraded rooms available when I recently checked the website. Our room is “tropical view” And doesn’t back up to party pool, but the party pool music is sooo incredibly loud we still hear it in our room. Some nights until midnight. Even our 24 & 22 yo sons thought it was excessively loud. Even with the TV turned up you hear the party pool music. The concrete and tile hallway causes all the sounds to amplify. You hear every hallway conversation and every service cart rolling by in your room. There is also a gap of space at the bottom on the door that allows mosquitos in. Bring itch cream. Dinner: French restaurant - breathless side Tenderloin, duck & salmon were all good. House glass wine is not good. I didn’t ask about corkage fee, but if you are a wine person - bring your own. It’s truly awful. There are inexpensive wines that are tasty that an all inclusive could use. They need to work on that. Day 2 Breakfast buffet is nice. They do walk you past the buffet to a table in a side room - then you have to go back to the Buffett room. The walking to a table is unnecessary. Had several hours by main pool - no music. Ceviche at barefoot grill was not edible. Hamburger was ok. Walked to Dreams. Lazy river & water slides were fun. Bars were staffed by friendly workers. Enjoyed the afternoon at Dreams. Got tacos at Dreams taco truck - good. Much prefer the dreams side. Dinner: Bluefin grill Dreams Short ribs & skirt steak were good. Ribeye was not - not sure what that cut of meat was. Son tried it & sent it back. This is a 22 yo - not necessarily a total foodie - and he sent it back. Sports bar : dreams Our kids wanted to watch the nba game. Made our way to the sports bar- faarrrr away from breathless. Which is fine. It’s not associated with that property. It had some very odd floral smell. We didn’t stay. Our boys didn’t even want to stay. Why does a sports bar smell like that? Day 3 Breakfast buffet breathless - still good. Spent some time on the beach. Activities crew keeps games going all day. Lots of beach local vendors working the crowd but they move along if you’re not interested. Went back to Dreams lazy river & water slides. Our opinion - we like that pool better and the bar staff mix better drinks. Afternoon at breathless pool. Started at large non activity pool, but the pool water was disgusting. The ladies next to us thought so too. Layers of sunscreen and what looked like globs of snot. Changed to loud activity pool. Much cleaner and they had a fun game similar to Wipe Out going on. Watched the security team confront a dude smoking a joint. Don’t do that here. Dinner at Silk City, Breathless side. Made reservations upon arrival (concierges made it for us). It does book up. The hostess could not find us until I showed her the screenshot of the reservation that the concierges sent me and I used his name. Chef was entertaining but hibachi food is much better at home. Don’t be too disappointed if you don’t get a reservation. Nightly entertainment: fire show. This was very good. Talented performers. Day 4 Breakfast - still good at breathless. Went to our previous chairs at Dreams lazy River pool. Stayed there all day. Lazy River, slides, floating in the pool. Lunch was Dreams International Buffett. They did not walk us to a table like Breathless does, which is fine. We went straight through the buffet then found seating in an area we chose. We all enjoyed our choices. Late afternoon around the pool, staff brought empanadas around for an afternoon snack. Back to the room after 5 to get ready for dinner. Can hear the party pool music in the room (still not a pool side room) - it’s loud. We went to Cullinaria for dinner. It was ok but not great. 2 of us went back to the French restaurant afterwards- the Duck and Ratatouille there were both great. Friday night entertainment was a neon pool party - with the music - which was loud in our room. Our son (22 ) thought the staff with neon body paint looked cool Checkout: You need to check out at the lobby desk. They give you a bellman tag with the # bags you have. I said I don’t need the bellman to go get my bags, I have them. He said you need to hand him this tag to exit. What ?? Their processes are so bazaar. My driver was standing right there, yet the bags and the piece of paper saying I had 2 bags had to go from me to bellman and then the bags to driver. Overall: Check in/ out process at Breathless is hellacious. Activities people work really hard to keep guests entertained. Pools & drinks are better at Dreams. French restaurant Breathless side was best. Don’t waste any upgrade certificates - they don’t acknowledge any status.

    Perfect vacation

We celebrated our anniversary and would recommend upgrade ing to Xhale Club and request Gliny as your VIP host; I would suggest checking out the pool by the beach - it was great as there were lots of activities and great music happening throughout the entire day
