Maybe the best beach in the Caribbean ?
We stayed at Cap Juluca in early December. I would highly recommend it. The setting, the people, the comfort and the beach are all excellent. We where in building number 10, which is quite far from the lobby and the restaurants, so make sure to get either a golf cart or a bike. Also, the lagoon when you drive in is not the prettiest spot on the island. But that's it. For the rest, this resort is the best. We had great service from everyone, but I would point out Gene, Justin and Barbie as going above and beyond. Our room was big, very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also quite large and the shower perfect. The various restaurants were all very good and very pretty. We enjoyed the cocktail hour from the main pool, with a few guests, as the management offered us a glass of wine every night. But the main draw is, of course, the beach. The resorts keeps it in perfect condition. You also have your beach chairs reserved, so you don't need to rush in the morning to get a good spot. We left Cap Juluca promising ourselves to be back, the sooner the better. It is expensive, but having visited the other luxury resorts on the island, I think it's the best in terms of size, beach and decor. Add the phenomenal people of Anguilla, and you have a recipe for a great vacation.
The Belmond Cap Juluca is a beautiful resort on Anguilla. Our room was exquisite, and the bathroom, with its wall of glass opening onto an enclosed courtyard was a light-filled oasis. The balcony was spacious with loungers, a table and chairs, and had a lovely uninterrupted view of the beach and sea. The wide, white, soft sand beach is incredible, and each room has a designated lounge area and umbrella marked with a conch shell with your room number, so no need to race to the beach in the morning to reserve space. Our room was maintained very nicely, and many times had already been made up by the time we returned from breakfast; turn-down service was timely and discreet, with ice and water provided. Our room was quite a distance away from the main lobby and restaurants, but golf cart shuttle service was just a call and moments away. All the staff, from the GM to the Bell Captain to the beach servers were so warm and friendly. Their love for their island was obvious and genuine; and all seemed sincerely grateful that we chose to visit Anguilla. The included breakfast buffet at Cips was very nice especially the location right on the water. There was an omelette station, lots of fresh fruits and juices, and a lovely assortment of breads and pastries. It would have been nice to have a mimosa included, but that was extra. We highly recommend a visit to this lovely island and this beautiful resort, and hope to return one day.
Upon our 20th visit to Cap Juluca we were struck by how much the Belmond influence has taken root. The best part is seeing the old faces - Myron, Gene, Lynval, and Diana(host) who welcomed us back with open arms. Plus Winnie from reservations. Once on the beach Eulalie was there is keep us happy all day. Wandering over to the Cap Shack it was wonderful to run into our old friend Terrence. Making new friends such as Matthew ,our villa manager, is also what makes Cap Juluca so special. At Maundays we made two new friends Sharina who makes the best martini and Shadoe the most pleasant waitress. The staff is what makes Cap Juluca the best, and will always gets us to return.
We simply fell in love with this magical restful place
We were well cared for and every person we met waved hello. So if you are not looking for friendly staff this is not a place for you. The Beach is simply one of the softest, nicest, spacious we have ever seen. If you want to have excellent food, get a chance to saber open a champagne bottle, live in the ocean, lounge but the pool then you will want to make this place home. We will be back.
Fantastic vacation at our home away from home
My husband and I just returned from eight days at Belmond Cap Juluca. We've gone there for many years. It's the same incomparably beautiful beach -- velvet white sand and crystal-clear water-- and the same lovely staff, with some additions. But, under new management, the rooms have been refurbished and the food and service are even better than before. (I could make a meal of the freshly-baked bread sticks at Cip's, their Italian restaurant.) Every room looks out on the beach, as do the restaurants, so one is constantly soothed and awed by sea and sky.
