  Highly Recommend Barcelo Puerto Vallarta

  My Friend and I visited the hotel in January 2026. We had a family premium room with an amazing view of the ocean and mountains. The room was spotless, the bar always stocked, and room service is free. We didn't use it as the restaurants are open almost all the time. The specialized restaurants were awesome as was the buffet restaurant. Once we had cold food, but the rest of the time every meal was outstanding. We had neighbors rowdy until the early hours of the morning and they moved us to a quieter room. The service, pools, tennis and pickle ball court all great. Highly recommend this hotel for a family or couple stay.

  Beautiful views

  We stayed at the resort for 12 nights in late January 2026. We travelled with 2 friends. We booked the Premium level and they put us on the 9th floor. Pros - Room was large, views from the deck are fantastic. Huge shower in room, AC worked well, comfy bed, lots of closet space & drawers to use. The staff and service were excellent. Very friendly and polite overall. Easy to get a cab or access local excursions. The pools were very clean, always seemed to find a few loungers. The service at the pool was great too! Cons - Food quality was average, noisy room #1907. Right outside our door was a maid station and they were slamming doors all day and night. No consideration for people in rooms across the hall. The front desk is inconsistant on their money exchange policy. One day I changed some large peso bills to 20 peso bills. The next time they said they don't have any small bills, come back tomorrow. When I went back, they said they only exchange dollars for pesos, not pesos for pesos. That's ridiculous. I wanted smaller bills for tipping and asked how I was supposed to tip. They don't have a cashier and what they really want is for you to spend money in a shop to get change. The Premium lounge is not a great atmosphere, Bright lights and a miserable waiter named Caesar. He is rude and not friendly, the hotel needs to get a younger more energenic waiter in there. The other issue with this resort is it's not very walkable. If you want to walk anywhere, good luck. The main road doesn't have sidewalks and is busy so a bit dangerous. The beach is not that big and construction on one end prevents you from walking anywhere. The snack bar was a restaurant that you could book at night. Both the rib steak and the ribs were tough and chewy. We returned to see if it would improve but it was just as bad. The Capris and the Spanish restaurants were very good overall.During our stay, 2 out of the 4 of us got really sick, likely the food as we only drank the bottled water on site. I would not go back to this resort ever.

  Terrible

  I will never stay at this chain again. Lack of adult entertainment. Pool with swim up bar was for the children. Didn't care for the food. Staff didn't sanitize their hands while dealing with dirty and clean dishes . Also putting food in their mouths in between severing customers.

  Great experience overall

  My husband and I had an amazing time at this resort. It's tucked away in beautiful Mismaloya and really gives you the nature feel of Puerto Vallarta. The service was great overall and Moses was the best!! His service made the trip very enjoyable, we were very impressed by him!

  Barcelo only okay

  I have stayed at Barcelo resorts two times before this and loved the facility, service, and food. This Barcelo was okay but the food was not great, little variety, lots of the same items every night. Hotel staff did not speak fluent English so was hard to express needs at front desk. Did not get the VIP access I was supposed to for my stay. Room maintenance needs attention, fan blades on ceiling fan almost fell off and we had to hand tighten the blades ourselves, black mold in bathroom shower needs attention. Beach is not flat and hardly anyone used it, except the locals who had access to it with their dogs and vendors. That was disappointing.
