This was a beautiful resort and very good for families with children. The grounds were exceptionally maintained and the premium rooms were very large with a walk in shower and tub option. The beach is very rocky in some spots. The food was excellent and lots to choose from. Our a la carte restaurants were booked for us before arriving with convenient times for young children. This was an added bonus for booking premium.

The layout of this resort is just brilliant. They have a lot of activities for all age groups. The food is really good except that they should have more vegetarian options. These were quite limited. The rooms were pretty clean and close to amenities. Lots of activities, including sports and organized activities in the pool. The pools at this place are just spectacular. Lots of them and good layout. The beach has fine white sand and the beaches are large. The water is nice and warm. However, the seaweed needs to be cleaned more frequently. Also make sure to bring water shoes as the shallow water is very rocky and hurts the bare feet. One of the big drawbacks of this resort is that they have a limited number of lounge chairs. By 8 AM daily, they are all booked. This issue has to be addressed by the resort and fixed. This is a big drawback. I’m not sure if it is greedy guests double booking a chair at the poolside and the beach side. But the resort needs to fix this.

Loved the Barcelo Maya Tropical
Had a great time, as always. Colonial and Tropical are wonderful and relatively inexpensive and a huge value for your dollars.

Great Cancun Resort
The good: - Very clean - Spacious - Lots of pool space and beach space - Buffet selection is good - Lots of pool snack/lunch options - No one in our group got any diet or stomach issues - Rooms are decent and the balconys are spacious - You really do not have to leave the resort, you can get anything you want including stores to purchase goods. They have a mini- mall on the resort. - Cool paid activity options including an escape room, bowling and more. Areas you should be aware of: - Their 3rd bed futon is not great - would not recommend for extended stays. The beds are good. - The restaurants are hit or miss - would not recommend Santa fe - would recommend Tokyo and Capri - The beach has rocky portions - that is really the only downside. That being said if you can get over the rocks you can make your way to the sandy portion further out. It is not that deep. And there are sections of the beach that are not rocky. Overall I had a great experience and a good time. Would definitely go back!

Third times a charm
I love this resort! The grounds, the pools, the staff! It makes me want to keep coming back. I plan to book my fourth trip and go solo, because i always feel so comfortable here. I had the pleasure of meeting Dalibeth Pereyra this year. She was our server in both the lobby bar and the Tropical pool. What a delight! We were treated like family.
