Third Time's a Charm
Just stayed at the Maya Palace for 10 days. Already looking forward to our return. We had a wonderful room overlooking the jungle and saw amazing animals early morning - deer, agouti, coati, green parakeets, woodpeckers and other colorful birds. Airconditioning in our room worked great, a constant 68F, much better than other resorts in the area where we have stayed. Best restaurants are Caribe and Rodizio. Visited Caribe 3 times for the wonderful grilled lobster and coconut shrimp. We thoroughly enjoyed our waiters, Jesus Gonzales and Angel Calvo. The Hacienda Buffet is always consistent with amazing morning omelets and the best seaside views. Outside on the patio, Antonio Aparicio and Rigoberto Santiz were always quick to bring us coffee and juice. We enjoyed relaxing by the huge pool where there are plenty of covered chaises. Got to know terrific poolside Coco Bar staff Yosajani R., Herlinda L. and Ismail C. who took great care of us. Many chairs available on the beach as well and no early morning chair games. In the evenings we enjoyed spending time in Carey Bar which is nicely airconditioned and has very comfortable seating to view televised sports. The cocktail waitresses were attentive and genuinely kind. Daisy and Consuelo were wonderful and quickly got to know us and our drink selections. Maya is such an incredible and extra special young lady who truly deserves recognition!!! We will return just to visit these memorable young people who made the vacation exceptional. If you are considering the Maya Palace, book it! Truly is a wonderful experience with a wide open beach, lush landscaping, huge rooms, and great family amenities.

Overall, a great hotel. Very clean, beautiful beach & warm water. Huge pool at the palace, separate large kids pool with slides. Buffet food was varied and fairly good; a la carte restaurants a nice change. Lots of walking around the property, it’s massive. Hotel staff kind but it took us awhile to figure things out. A helpful check-in sheet would have been nice. One WARNING: Independent vendors on the property added $10 USD to our total purchased by credit card. I caught one of them & was told they didn’t have the means to refund the overcharge. This happened twice. Make sure you get a quote in pesos, not in USD as they like to do, so that you can verify the charge before it goes through on the card reader. This occurred at the ceramic painting studio, as well as the large open air stalls on 2nd floor.

Beautiful Resort!
Overall our trip to Barcelo Maya Palace was great. Pros: * The rooms are big and comfortable with refrigerators that are stocked daily. * The beach is beautiful with lots of trees for shade. * The buffet has a very large assortment with something for everyone. * The sit down restaurants are delicious. * The staff is amazing! Cons: * There is no bar open 24 hours. I like to drink Bailey's in my coffee in the mornings so I had to wait until 9am when the lobby bar opened and one morning they were out of it. :-( * There are very few bartenders at the pool and beach bar so the wait gets long. * There is no bar service on the beach so you have to get your own drinks. * Our keys stopped working one day. It took my husband TWO trips to the lobby to get his fixed and both times he had to wait in line. I also had to have my key fixed and there was no apology at all for the inconvenience. * You can only make a few dinner reservations when you arrive so you have to go back to schedule more at a later date. Overall we enjoyed our trip.

5 star Perfect Stay
Our stay at Barceló Maya Palace was pure paradise! The staff was incredibly kind, the food was delicious, and the beach was absolutely breathtaking. The pools, entertainment, and rooms exceeded every expectation.
