    You are just a number

We visited this resort as a family with kids, as well as grandparents who came along. The following were our impressions: Positives: - Great, large and clean pool complex with a small water park. This will keep most children happy for several hours on most days. - Adequate opportunity for entertainment and a few activities during the day at the pool. - Good sized, spacious and clean rooms with adequate A/C. and good room service. - Pretty good breakfast buffet choices (note: half the buffet that includes a few choices such as crepes does not open until just after 8am, so if you get there earlier, you will be limited to only "one side". Negatives: - Despite the "premium" privileges (Even after a nine-day trip, I am still in the dark about what "premium" gets you), as well as a premium lounge for check ins, our check in took an hour and 15 minutes. - After my parents who are older were given a room that is as far from all the amenities as possible (probably a 10-15 minute walk one way), we requested a room closer to the lobby and were promised one would be available the following day. What transpired in the next 27 hours almost ruined our trip. To make a very long story short, the front desk staff was extremely confident (borderline arrogant), completely indifferent to the many issues we had, while being very incompetent at the same time. Our attempt to get things done by speaking to a manager (Edwin Cordero) resulted in more of the same. Edwin, just like the rest of the staff was a complete robot, who showed very little sympathy or regret. - We found that the staff in general was the worst we encountered at any all inclusive hotel we have been to. We received pool drink service only 3 times over a nine day period during which we were at the pool every day. When asking an employee at the "premium lounge " for a bottle of water, he proceeded to first arrange all the bottles of liquor and make me wait 7-8 minutes before getting me a bottle that should have been available in the fridge to begin with. Getting the bottle only took him about 10-15 seconds. This was the first all inclusive trip where we tipped less than 50% of the time at the buffets because of the horrible service that included no refills, dirty plates bot being cleared, etc. Other basic requests, such as getting an iron, ironing board, or actually having a way to steam clothes due to not being able to hang up clothes on the hookless hangers in the room were completely ignored after repeated requests and promises even from managers, including Iris Baez. This is something that would be attended to immediately and routinely in most three star hotels elsewhere, never mind five star ones. - The food, with the excepting of the breakfast buffet was poor at the buffets, as well as most of the a la carte restaurants. During lunch and dinner, about the two thirds of the food at the buffets was completely cold. A lot of dishes at the a la carte restaurants were really bad. We found "La Fuente" and the French restaurant to be the worst, with "Caribe" being the best, although inconsistent. To put things in perspective, they serve margarine instead of butter. They expect you to cut the tough meat they serve even at the steak place with a completely dull butter knife. Most dishes, except a couple at "Caribe" that included fish or seafood tasted "fishy". - Given the size of this mega complex, the shuttle bus service is a good idea, except that it is very inconsistent. If you ask a staff member, they will tell you that the wait time is 20 minutes at most. What they don't tell you is that at random times, the wait can exceed 45 minutes because the buses cater to special events and groups and are not available to other guests. - The "mall area" and sports bar are an interesting idea. However, the sports bar literally included two basic channels, so that most people who came to watch the Fifa Club World Cup had to settle for repeats of games from three months ago. And this at a mega resort!? - The beach is a mixed bag. They do a good job cleaning the sargassum. However, there is only a ~15' wide section where one can safely enter the water without dealing with rocks and abrupt holes. More importantly, there are jelly fish that sting people on a regular basis, with vinegar and gauze being the only remedy. Overall, this is your typical large resort that only cares about supply and demand. Be prepared to be treated like a number and wait, wait, wait, wait...

    Nice beach

There was a nice beach and a nice Pool as well as four other hotel areas to enjoy. We had a lot of fun exploring and tried to visit as many areas as possible. The food was average better than average, but the variety and choices were endless my particular favorite, where the crêpes, whether you are vegan or gluten and intolerant to their choices for you as well. There are were some issues with rooms. Service, knocking on the doors to clean the room when we clearly had the sign on the door. That said do not disturb. We had a baby, and they often we’re knocking on the door to see if we wanted anything when the baby was sleeping and it would wake her up. The room was OK. It’s certainly locked deep cleaning, and there were some things that we’re not in repair, including no directory on the phone, which was very annoying, but overall it was a nice resort With a lot of options. Great for families.
