Barcelo maya palace amid pandemic.
Not our first time here, but probably our best one. This pandemic is very sad thing, but for us it was unforgettable vacation. Almost zero people around, empty beach, empty restaurants, no waiting lines. It means no sigaretts butts,no dirty glasses on a beach, no usual upsetting things from big mass of tourists. Resort is beautiful and Barcelo people working very hard to follow all this new pandemic rules ( everybody who works here wears masks and screens, everything gets sanitized and cleaned). Thanks a lot!! We feel safer than home, in Canada. And people waiting for this info: food- no buffet, but everything arranged very smart, we liked it. A la carte restaurants still serve expensive food, only thing, long pants for man kinda annoying. And yes, Canada put you on 2 weeks carantine when you back, even on time of booking air canada vacation pretending they don't know about mandatory carantine, and ther representatives still saying carantine just suggested. But it's our responsibility to check government requirements. Ok, we did went there, we like it, no sorrys.
Great trip to Maya Riviera
My family and I stayed at Barcelo Maya Palace the week of June 14th. We really enjoyed our week there. Fernando at the Brasserie provided excellent service with a smile. Natalie was a great activity leader at the pool area. The food was good. The pools were huge. The beach was very nice.
First Family trip to Barcelo Maya Palace
Alan at the front desk was most cordial and helpful! He informed us that premium level was closed to our disappointment. Our rooms were very clean and kept that way throughout the week by the housekeeping staff. We appreciated the attentiveness. Room service was efficient and courteous and the food was good also. The beach was nice but you definitely need water shoes for the rocks. Must give a shout out for Natalie with pool activities! Iris was a great help also. We appreciated the smiles from Anna and Angel Tansy at the buffet in the grill , and the ice cream desserts by Angelberto Verlarde. We must mention for outstanding service Fernando, Miguel, Carlos, Marco, and Anna at the French restaurant for they made our meals memorable. (Very delicious!) The one beach activity that was open was the catamaran and Ramon was a great guide, very personable, and fun! We hope to return here soon! Thank you to all at the Palace during these challenging times.
vacationing in the midst of covid 19
We were on the first flight out of Toronto to Cancun. We were so excited to just get to a beach. Barcelo was not our first pick, we had originally wanted to go to Cancun central, but it was still closed down due to the covid. Arrival-I have nothing negative to say, we have stayed at Barcelo's 4 previous times and have always booked a premium room as they charge for wifi, and they do not have reservation free dining, so at least with a premium room you get priority and free wifi. Due to the Covid, you got unlimited wifi and there was no reservations needed until the last 2 nights, which was still ok due to the amount of people at the resort. The truth of the matter: I do not know if I would want to stay here if the resort was full, this is a city in it's self, 5 resorts and I would say each resort holds 500-700 rooms, that being said, we were here during a pandemic and I can only say that the resort and employees went above and beyond to make us feel safe and comfortable. The precautions that they took to ensure that we were healthy and the other guests were healthy were more than acceptable. The precautions that they took when it came to delivering food and drinks were well thought out and more than adequate. They took your temperature before entering the buffet and allowed as much "not-contact" as possible. The pools here are huge and warm and amazing. Perfect beach, perfect staff. Our room was the right size and no issues with size or location. There was no night time entertainment, not that we ever partake of it anyways, the bars shut down at 11:00 which was more than adequate for us, they offered free room service so you did not have to leave the room if need be, So in closing, I can only hope that this resort along with all of the others are up and running and ready to welcome us travelers with open arms, and I can only hope that all of my fellow travelers are ready to get on a plane and enjoy the wonderful hospitality that all of the resorts in mexico have to offer. my one negative for this resort-please get rid of men having to wear pants, it is so yesterday, and when I book resorts now this is one of the things I look for, if my husband has to wear long pants I look somewhere else. Men, like women have nice Bermuda shorts which are more than adequate, just sayin.......
Room service was amazing! My room was clean everyday without fail. My favorite restaurant was Brasserie. The recreation leader, Natalie, was amazing! The activities she lead were the highlight of my trip.
