The manager was very rude to my mother in law to the point of her crying. I don’t appreciate the disrespect after spending a lot of money and being treated like trash. If you’re debating between what resorts to go to, put this one at the bottom of your list because the service here is the worst I’ve seen in any country. No respect here and not worth the money.

Come here if you want to get yelled at my the manager.
Our experience at Barceló Palace was honestly terrible. There was absolutely no information provided about anything from where to go, to how things worked, to what was included. We kept getting different answers every time we asked. To make it worse, the manager was incredibly rude and even yelled at us when we tried to calmly ask for clarification. It completely ruined the vibe of what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. The manager also said he would check the cameras to prove that we got papers and try to prove us wrong. When we checked in our rooms ac did not work the floors were wet and our fridge was broken. Not something you expect when you pay as much as we did to go on a nice vacation. If you’re debating between resorts, don’t even think twice — Grand Palladium is 1000x better in every way: service, communication, and how they treat their guests. Barceló needs serious improvement in management and hospitality.

Rude Management and Fake-Friendly Reviews
We stayed at Barceló Maya Palace expecting a luxury getaway, but this was one of the worst resort experiences we’ve had. The manager was extremely rude and actually screamed at the girls in our group — totally uncalled for and unprofessional. That kind of behavior has no place in hospitality. We usually stay at Grand Palladium, where everyone is genuinely friendly and respectful. The difference in attitude between the two resorts is night and day. Another thing that stood out — the staff constantly push guests to leave Google reviews, which explains why their ratings look higher than they should be. It feels forced and fake, not earned through good service. For the price, you expect courtesy, professionalism, and honesty — not intimidation and review manipulation. We won’t be coming back, and I’d recommend sticking with Grand Palladium or any resort that truly values their guests.

It is our 14th year visiting Barcelo Rivera Maya resort at the palace. The resort is amazing and Erica Luna, Maria Perez, and Mayra Poot at the Carey Bar have made our visit even more special. Thank you!

Family vacation to barcelo maya palace
The staff are not friendly and helpful at all we waited 4 hours for our room with two kids to be ready even after they told us the check in is at 3 The service in buffet is terrible and it smells very bad every-time we went there They gave us hard time for the dinner reservation and none of the restaurants were available we had to raise the issue that with two kids we cannot have zero reservation and after all the hustle one of the managers gave us the two booking for the restaurants otherwise we were all eating the buffet
