    DONT BOOK HERE

This place was recommended to stay to us not for any reason but the location (it was close to the private venue for a wedding) There was no hospitality here the multiple request of my room being close to my elderly father room was ignored. They put my room as far away from his as possible. The food was the same every night in the buffet. We tried to get reservations through out the week for the restaurants and seemed like we were an inconvenience to the staff who were very short and rude. There was NO entertainment unless you call playing a trivia game in the pool for a hour. At 8pm the whole resort was silent. You can do other things around the other resorts for extra cost on every thing. Our family and friends HIGHLY recommend any RIU resorts. Don’t book this one!

    Fantastic place

This resort was fantastic, rooms, meals , bars and service was excellent. The Buffets were always fresh, great selection. The other restaurants were absolutely superb, great choices of meals, severs were very friendly always asking if we had enough to eat. We had the Premium package, was well worth the extra money, pools and grounds very clean, would definitely stay there again

    Overall good experience.

The place is huge!! Bring your walking shoes or best sandals! It is very nice and has all the amenities. I had a fall with an injury that interrupted the remainder of our trip. I feel the hotel could have accommodated us in a much friendlier and more helpful manner rather than causing further disruption by declining our requests.

    Nice but……

This is a beautiful resort! However, my husband and I upgraded to premium and I unfortunately assumed when you upgrade you get a butler as I have gotten at many other resorts. That was not the case if you go to this Resort thinking you will get special treatment, your mistaken. You are pretty much on your own which is fine, but when you upgrade, you just expect a little extra. Make dinner reservations before your vacation or you will be eating at 9 o’clock every night. I scheduled a service in the salon to get my makeup done with a wedding party. I sat for two hours and waited for my appointment. At this point, I only had an hour to do my hair and get ready for my son‘s wedding. I walked out upset and crying. I asked them to recredit my room for the cost of the service and they would not do that. I paid $120 and didn’t get anything back. So this is why my rating is so low. This place has the best beach I’ve ever been to. It would be nice if there was cocktail service on the beach. As for the pool that was amazing as well. One bonus would be poolside food, which they don’t have. If you are traveling on a budget, I guess this would be the place for you or if you have never been to an all-inclusive this is a good place to start.

    Great family vacation experience!

This was our second time staying at Barceló Maya Palace, and we’ll definitely be back again. We traveled with a group of 11 and everyone had a great time. We stayed in Premium Level. Our room had a pool view and was super close to the beach, restaurants, and activities. The rooms are a little dated, but nothing bad, and the comfort and location made up for it. We also really enjoyed the Premium Level lounge in the lobby, great service and they have tasty snack bites which was perfect while we were waiting for our turn to check-in. The food selection worked well for all ages, and the kids loved the splash pools and slides. We love this beach because we saw turtles a couple of mornings and did a bit of snorkeling right at the resort, which was a fun bonus. We liked being able to walk over to the other Barceló resorts for more dining options. Plus, there’s a cenote right across the street, easy walk or a very short taxi ride (this time we ended up taking a taxi because of small kids with us). Tip: come early in the morning to make restaurant reservations before the staff gets busy with check-ins and checkouts. Overall, another awesome family vacation, and we will be returning again.
