Our Family Had a Great Time!
We had a great time! You don't need to be on the premium level to have a great time. Our room was clean and the golf course view was great. The staff always refreshed and stocked our room daily with towels, snacks, coffee, drinks, and chocolate on the bed at night during turn down service. The resort itself was always being maintained. The staff was out cleaning, trimming, cutting, and cleaned up the seaweed on the beach every day. The buffet food was better than we thought it would. It was huge and plenty to choose from all day. We went to the Mexican, Italian, and Steak restaurants and they were awesome especially the Italian. Really good food. They are there to please you and the little extra like giving samples to taste from the menu was great. The bar drinks were amazing. The cups they used were recyclable and they gave paper straws. Water bottles were always available. There are lots of stores to shop at but they are expensive. If you need anything, just be prepared to pay a lot of money. We went on a catamaran excursion one day and we had so much fun and I would highly recommend it. We are went on another excursion into the mountains to see the monkeys, learn about coffee, etc. and it was also amazing. Long drive there though but interesting drive. Lots of loungers on the beach and the pool was very nice, clean, and large. Never over crowded. Lots of daily activities. There is a train to take you around the resort that comes every 10 minutes to pick you up. I guess our only complaint would be the staff could understand and speak more english and having a BBQ food area around the pool areas would be a good idea.
Guests - watch for false credit card charges!
Mr. César Güílamo, I have tried all the regular Barcelo “help” links online to remedy an incorrect credit card charge that took me 3 hours to sort out at the front desk on Feb 27. I have emailed Bavaro Palace directly, I have also been issued 2 “ticket numbers” via the complaint process on the Barcelo website, but no response on the matter has been forthcoming. I would like an immediate refund for the incorrect charges. 4 emails have been sent with receipts and documentation. Yngrid B. at the front desk processed the refund after I waited patiently for 3 hours. However, It has been nearly 2 months, and no refund has been issued to my account. The level of service at checkout and lack of reply from anyone within Barcelo is unacceptable. Please finally remedy this situation immediately and issue my proper refund. Please check your records for invoice BBE200012960. I am still owed the full amount. I’m not normally one to leave negative reviews. The resort is beautiful and a wonderful place to stay, but the level of service on this particular matter on checkout has been unprofessional to say the least. What should have been a very simple and quick reversal of fees, has instead been a very lengthy and unpleasant experience. It has taken many hours of my time, and is still ongoing. I will be sure to avoid a stay here in the future due to this fact. I would encourage all guests reading this to monitor invoices on checkout very carefully for erroneous billings. Michael

I lost our PASSPORTS- Staff was AMAZING! 2nd time here
This is our family's second time to this resort. We went about 8 years ago for the first time and did not like it at all. I have been to the DR over 60 times (yes that's not an error) and I had never seen such horrible service. Things like having to get your own coffee, forks, spoons, napkins etc etc. It was just awful! I was hopeful that one day this property would be under new management and things would change. DID THEY EVER! We went the middle of March right before all heck broke lose with COVID-19. The first day we arrived we lost our families passports! As you can imagine we were frantic! All I can say is WOW with the staff! From the management team to the bell boys everyone knew what was going on and helped us 100% The bell boy even spent a long time with my husband searching for our passports! He could have just said sorry, you're on your own...he didn't! The manager did an amazing job trying to calm me down, and help. The property is outstanding! Gorgeous huge pools, beach, and amazing kids waterpark. Our 5 year old was in heaven! The food is ok, typical all inclusive food. Nothing horrible, but nothing to write home about. They do make homemade donuts at breakdast that are amazing! Don't hesitate to book here. We will be back. We had to cut our trip short due to COVID-19 and the prime minister shutting down the borders.
I can’t believe you refunded my unused nights. I was in crisis. My hotel closed and threw me out. My flights cancelled. I had nowhere to go. I was desperate. I walked in to find 500 Russians swamp your front desk. I waited. And waited. You gave me a room. I was exhausted from all day in lines at the airport. I was scared. Couldn’t get flights out. I booked 2 extra nights in case I had more flights cancelled. Went to airport next day and got out. Today I received a credit for my unused nights. I love you! My own overpriced resort threw me out and kept my money. I’ll stay with you next time👍
