My friends and I went here for spring break. We had a great time and liked everything about the place. We really enjoyed the sports bar, especially our bartenders Angelo, Marcos, and Ronny. They were great bartenders and had great personalities. Food was ok, nothing special. Not the best place for spring breakers but still fun for those who like it a little more low key. Definitely recommend going on the party boat trip you won’t regret it. All in all great experience!
I loved this place! Its a site to see and staff are smiling no matter when you see them! So much to do! All inclusive so it includes everything! Only thing i wish is they had a book explaining everything! A lot of wasted time figuring out how things went, where things were, etc! I recommend meeting up with concierge as soon as you get there to set up for special restaurant's!! Also the sports bar is 24/7 definitely try it and not buffet it was really good!! Also paying thousands for a trip and certain rooms dont include wifi!!! That was really strange considering cheap motels give that! Pay 12 a day or I think it was 45 a wk per device! Other than those issues i enjoyed our trip! I read reviews for wks and never experienced anything bad not one thing! So i may of got lucky idk! Wish the rooms were bigger or different glass in shower! But the beach is right there. So many free things to do on resort! I recommend bringing ur own balls to play with. Also sunblock, aloe, bug spray! I paid 18.99 for small bottle of sunblock that in states is 4.99 lol but it was well worth it! Totally recommend! Its very kid friendly not people brushing into you plenty of space! Besides buffet but that's normal!! The staff was super attentive crazy how they are at every door and all over saying hola and smiling! They also will make any smoothy drink u can think of it seemed lol alcahol or not! We paid for extras off the resort but there is a lot of the same on as well. We did the dolphin experience, party boat, dune buggy, zip line, checked out ood villages, horses, snorkeling, and went down into mines. Also sorry im all over the place.... But, i totally recommend you to pay the 1000 extra for the better room you get extra stuff, free wifi, they give 1000 spending money, bottle of alcohol of ur choice, different stuff so its well worth it! Hope this helps you! I tried finding a good review to give me a lot of info and i wasted so much time! Also if ur a smoker cigs r cheaper in smoke shop in resort instead of gift shop. But the duty free at airport marlboros were $32! Thats half price compared to where i am! Hope this helps and i will try to edit/update as more comes to mind! We got junior premium. We had no issues w kids being loud hardly seen them unless u were up at activities if that is what ur worried about. Its spacious so u won't have issues. U can also walk down beach & off resort as well. Sports bar has alcohol 24/7 premium suite u get free room service including alcahol as well.
Don't Go Here for a Friends Trip!
As my title says, don't go here if you're looking to have a fun friends trip! This resort is beautiful, but is definitely lacking in the "fun" experience. It is better suited for a couples getaway or a family vacation as it is an older crowd. We were four 20/30 something friends looking for a healthy combination of fun and relaxation and unfortunately it was mostly the latter. The Adults Only pool had no music or swim up bar. The only pool with a swim up bar had kids in it constantly, which isn't the best vibe. The entertainment was only suited for the kids and the staff weren't overly friendly. However, a great perk to this resort was that there was never a stress to get beach chairs as the beach is massive! Overall, if you are looking for a quiet place to relax this is the resort for you! If you're looking for the option to have fun, do not go here.
March 15 thru 18 2020
This is our 4th time to this resort. It has changed quite a bit since we came in 2008 for the better. The staff is exceptionally thoughtful during the cleaning of your room. They will make their round to make sure your fridge is full of all the drinks. I recommend the Japanese restaurant, Santa Fe steak house, and La Dolce Vita Italian Restaurant. If you only stay for 3 days, my recommendation is to book the restaurant you will be attending early in the morning when the reception office opens at 8 am (or 9 am?). I understand if you are staying for more than 5 days, you will have the option to books in advance all the restaurants. During the pandemic, the staff was calm. I have to rebook my flight out of the country and the staff at the reception was kind enough to allow us to use their phone to call the airlines for us. The Wifi is two per reservation. Wifi is spotty at times and unsecured. Better have a VPN with you. The other option is to buy a local sim card which is really cheap if you have an unlocked phone. The pirate area has a pool with waves and if you are not a member premium member of Barcelo, the cost is 20 US dollars from what they tell me.
Fairbairn Family Trip
I wanted to say that this resort was beautiful, huge and full of super amazing people. I'm more of a cruise person but this resort has made me realize there's more to a vacation than food . We were lucky enough to have Premium and the nicest room during our stay ( Panoramic room with 2 jacuzzis, two bathrooms and huge balcony and a view that was out of this world of the ocean). I'm sorry I'm terrible with names but Wandy in premium helped us with all restaurant reservations ( plus with our extra guests) and helped us with any questions. During our stay we also were part of the ever changing Pandemic that was quickly going around the world. But at this resort you didn't hear or see anything change as they did their best to try and keep things normal. Sure we practiced good hygiene and social distancing. The entire time we didn't feel unsafe and that has to do in part of the people working. I sincerely want to thank the hotel and the people for making this a vacation not to forget. I also want to say sorry to Angel who was part of the Costco/ Blue excursion team who we had little communication with as we were too concerned to book anything due to the virus concerns. He however made it easy for us to arrange transport to airport for our group of 12 the day of departure.
