Beautiful Resort
The resort is amazing. It was our second time this year . Great rooms , great views and food dramatically improved since April. Guest services is amazing and most of the staff are great . We only had one issue with a supervisor Joel Santana but it didn't ruin the trip . Beach is amazing but they could use some more shaded areas . Large private beach and no local harassing vendors, however there is a large flea market right next door on the beach off the property. Pool is great and never had issues getting lounge chairs . Buffet is great and the specialty restaurants aren't really anything special imo . Rooms are big, well lit and wifi is great everywhere. Neighboring resort bavaro barcelo palace ( family resort) has everything. Basically a shopping mall and only a short walk over. Highly recommend this resort . We've been to the DR 8 times and this was our second time at this resort. We Will definitely be coming back

Phenomenal vacation
For validity of this review, I just want to say that we stay at numerous all-inclusive resorts all over the Caribbean and try to pick a different spot every year. This place did not disappoint and we had an absolute phenomenal trip. The food was great. The staff was great. The drinks were great. The ambience was great. It was very clean and a great location. I also want to give a personal thank you for the greatest service I've ever received from Nathali Mota, Ambassador. She helped answer all of our questions throughout the week and helped with reservations each day. Thank you so much, Nathali. You were the best!

So disappointed
Got married at this resort 22 years ago. Just checked in today, and was disappointed from the beginning. Check-in took about an hour. Rooms weren’t ready, so we went to nearby buffet for lunch. Food was not good. Went to rooms, only to find out we have 1 towel and no cold water… that’s right- scalding hot water to brush your teeth and shower. Called room service, but 6 hours later no towels & still only hot water. Now toilet doesn’t flush because there’s no cold water. Went to other buffet for dinner- smelled like sewer backed up. Food not good. Went to sports bar- also smelled like sewer backed up. Ate French fries & chicken. Casino was good. Back to room. No towels and scalding hot water. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Excellent resort for families.
We stayed at the adults only section of the Barcelo Bavaro Beach resort. So I can't speak about the rooms and service in the rest of the resort. About the adults only section: the rooms are in need of upkeep and renovation. The bathrooms are OLD and would not be well received if this were an economy hotel in the US. the shower heads are OLD and spray unevenly. The bathtub floors are higher than floor level so stepping out requires concentration. The tub has a half glass enclosure, which is not an enclosure at all. The shower/tub and toilet are cramped into a very tight space. None of the other resorts we have stayed at in the Dominican Republic or Cancun have such small showers. The room itself was OK. The balconies have wooden rails which impede the view. especially if you sit down at the small table on the balcony. While seated you can't see the water or the beach. This is not true of the rest of the resort, where glass is used for balcony rails. OK, so what about the restaurants, buffets, entertainment, shops, activities, and grounds: all very good. Drinks at the bars included much better spirits than we have seen at other resorts. I found that the food options are decent. Some prior reviewers complained about everything tasting the same. It is possible to spice up your own plate by asking the line cooks to do things a little differently. To improve the omelettes I bring the line cooks some ingredients they don't have in front of them, like chili, and cheeses and other peppers or veggies that are found elsewhere in the buffet but not at the omelette station. Same thing at the pasta station. There's a bowling alley. Lots of pool tables. Lots of beach sports equipment. Professional racing simulators. We may be returning here next year. But if we do we'll seriously consider staying at one of the newer sections of the resort that are not adult only.

First trip
Some areas are a little dated, but well maintained. Beautiful property and beaches. Pools are great as well as service. We will return here in the future.
