We have been staying at this same resort for the last 20 years and absolutely love it. Grounds and condos are well kept, on site dive shop great along with the restaurant. The grocery store is within walking distance and they do offer on site golf cart rental. Condos are equipped with everything you need to cook meals. They also pay for your taxi to and from airport in San Pedro. I hope nothing changes but the name at the end of the year since they were bought by Marriott.
My friends and I just got back from a 5 day stay at Banyan Bay and we loved it. As we arrived, the hotel took care of our first taxi cab which was very nice. I think the hotel is in the process of updating and we got one of the newer rooms. It was absolutely beautiful. Very spacious and everything was brand new. Very clean as well. It’s about a mile away from the center but it’s easily accessible via golf cart or taxi. The hotel is also down the street from Robin’s kitchen (must try) and there’s a grocery store located right down the street. We had breakfast here at the hotel too - very good! The staff of this hotel was so friendly and pleasant! They were always willing to help us out with anything. Would definitely return here!!
Grounds were nice, staff was very nice, Pier 99 restaurant was suberb. Dive shop was very professional. However the room was in serious need of updating. Master shower didn't have hot water, sinks didn't drain, tile cracked and mold in shower. The beach was nice but water was murky. To be fair adjacent unit was 10 times better. I understand Marriot is taking over this property and they are in the middle of renovations. Until this is complete I wouldn't suggest staying here. Overpriced for the conditions
Not impressed for $$$$
Keeping it short and to the point Room extremely run down Rooster waking at 4 every morning Towels threadbare Shower master no pressure and nobhot water Construction noise all day Resort has seen better days Would go to coco beach for the money GREAT = Pier 99 eats YUM
Beautiful resort in San Pedro
We are a family of 4 (with two kids aged 8) that stayed at Banyan Bay Suites in early February. This resort exceeded our expectations! The rooms were incredible - full apartments with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We had an ocean view unit with the most incredible view. The resort was beautiful with a nice pool, beach area, games on the beach for the kids to play (e.g., sandbag toss), and free bicycle rentals that included kids' bikes. I really liked the location. It was about a 20-25 minute walk into town, so a bit far with kids or late at night, so we rented a golf cart which made it really convenient to get around. The walk along the beach was really nice though and we did it a few times to get to/from town. I liked not being in the middle of the busy town and our location was nice and quiet. There were grocery stores nearby which was very helpful as well. The gym was small but nice to at least have something. Going for a run from the resort was wonderful - running to downtown along the beach and back was a nice 5 km run. Go early though - it gets hot quickly! Overall I would highly recommend this beautiful resort and am so happy I chose it as there are so many options on Ambergris Caye that it becomes overwhelming.
