A once great resort…
This was our 3rd time at Bahía Grand Tulum. We used to find it to be very good. It was nice when it was renovated. But it seems as though they are putting all their energy into the golf course across the way. We didn’t appreciate the guys in the lobby always asking us to discuss their time share options. Rooms: 2 bedroom suite was nice with a little one. But every time he crawled on the floor, he was filthy. There were fire ants on the floor. Having 2 bathrooms was nice. But every item of clothing we brought were damp. Whether we wore the clothing or not. We are assuming it’s due to the humidity. The fridge wasn’t very cold. When we asked if we could get it looked at-they said the fridge isn’t supposed to keep things cold, but keep them fresh. So unfortunately, I couldn’t store my breast milk in there. And needed to ask for a bucket of ice every night. Pools: it’s nice to have the main pool that had activities. The kids pool was nice for our baby. And the quiet pool was also very nice. Beach: we didn’t get to use it much. But it was clean in November (in terms of seaweed) with plenty of open chairs and some with shade. Food: it seems like they made a conscious effort to reduce options. Restaurants were closed. But when we went to make a reservation it just said “Full.” But that just meant the restaurant wasn’t actually open. The options by the pools were very limited. By the main pool, there was only one offering per day- tacos; hamburgers; hot dogs. The Truck had the same options every day- they were just small portions. And the buffet had a line at peak hours, which was fine. But this also caused fights due to the long wait times, especially at the omelet station. All in all we enjoyed our trip. But sadly it’s time to look at other options when traveling to Mexico.

Not the same hotel as in 2022
Food quality has gone WAY down hill since 2022. Use the Coba buffet it’s better then Tulum. Beach has a LOT of rocks in the water, make sure you bring water shoes or you will not be able to go in the water. We had a two room suite and it was lovely and the AC worked great, but it was musty and smelled like mould. I asked for a dehumidifier, they never did get me one. The bar service is poor as well, it’s not the workers fault, the hotel doesn’t have e enough people on each bar to handle crowds.

We love this place
This is our 14th time here. We came to Coba the first time, purchased Privlege and do a few visits each winter (out of IL winter). The people are lovely, the buffets are good keeping in mind that you need to hit the “specialty” nights for a variety. Perhaps the resort needs to be able to hold back on the over consumption on the giant cups people bring but that can be tough. We will return in January

Review
My family and I visited this resort for a four-day stay to celebrate my son’s first birthday. Unfortunately, our trip was marred by several issues from the outset. Instead of feeling relaxed, we were plagued by recurring headaches that significantly diminished our experience. While there were no standout positive aspects during our stay, the constant problems made it challenging to fully enjoy what was meant to be a simple and memorable celebration for our son. When you’re only on vacation for a few days, these issues accumulate quickly and leave a lasting impact. However, the staff members who stepped in when things went wrong helped soften the experience. Carlos Rosario, in particular, deserves recognition for his patience, professionalism, and genuine efforts to assist us. He consistently went above and beyond to improve our stay, demonstrating the kind of service every guest hopes to receive. His efforts made a real difference. Despite this positive interaction, the overall stay did not leave me wanting to return. I appreciate the hospitality and the attempts to rectify the issues, and I genuinely wish the business well. I hope the resort continues to address the areas that caused these problems, as there is potential here. Nevertheless, based on this experience, I would not personally recommend the resort at this time.
