Unfortunate ending to the week.
Hotel staff scammed our family purposefully not loading our bags on our departure bus trip. We were informed mid way that our bagged (tagged labeled and matching the other bags) had not made it on. I was also the last person on the bus and saw the bag in the loading area with the other bags. Informed us we had to pay $120.00usd in order to get our bag with our infants medicine in it to the airport. The hotel management has been extremely unprofessional, unethical and are claiming zero accountability when their employees *Tagged and loaded the bags*. They target young families and after speaking with the travel representative, this happens once a week. I do not recommend a place like this especially for young families. Please avoid.

TULUM with AKUMAL upgrade review
We stayed at GBPT for 5 nights January 19-24 as group of 9 ( 5 adults, 4 kids) This review for GB Tulum and Akumal, as we upgraded our bracelets to use Akumal amenities. I lost count how many time we stayed at this resort ( mostly Akumal) it was first time for Tulum, we already knew that there would be no difference in rooms, but this time we were closer to kids area, even thou kids didn't mind to chill at the pool with us or at the beach. TULUM: check in was easy, we upgraded our bracelets right away to use Akumal facilities ($) , got our rooms in building 2 ( very close to the lobby) . Updated rooms, but our room was warmer than 2 others. AC didn't go lower than 20, which i'm pretty sure was incorrect ( felt much warmer) , but weather wasn't too hot, so we decided to be okay with that. If it was summer- we would've asked for better working AC. Room was clean, not as spacious as older rooms, but for 3 people it was fine. Keep in mind- updated rooms have open space concept- so no privacy after shower. We made it work, but if my kids were older i know that would be inconvenience. We had VERY interesting wildlife on our balcony, raccoons, capybaras, some big birds , my kids were so intrigued by it, every evening we would wait for some animals to show up. POOL: we only stayed at the TULUM pool for 1 day, and comparing to previous trips to Akumal, it was too quiet, no pool service, but drinks were good. BUFFET: we find Tulum buffet very crowded, and a bit disorganized, but no major complaints (it's just our preference) Food is okay, maybe because Tulum has so many people some foods run out fast. KIDS CLUB AT TULUM: i would 100% recommend kids club, they are AMAZING team! keeping kids busy, participating in every activity with kids. Adriana, Guillermo, Angel, Montse, Itzamaray, Yazmin, Ashley! Everyone so kind and great with kids! AKUMAL: we love this place and keep coming back there. Beautiful beach, lots of fish, spacious pools, 2 pool bars and not too crowded. Buffet service is awesome: most of the staff are great and always greet you with a smile. RESTAURANTS: we were able to book Brazilian, and it was pretty good! some meat wasn't cooked properly, but we all agreed that most of their menu was good. They also have regular food like sushi, mac and cheese, soup ( for those who don't like meat options) Members of our family booked Japanese restaurant, but they weren't happy with it, food wasn't that good to their liking. ENTERTAINMENT TEAM: i wrote it in my old reviews, and again- very cool people! Aqua aerobics, zumba, bachata, water volleyball - these people have so much energy! They will keep you busy. BOTTOM LINE: I would recommend Grand Bahia to everyone, if you're a couple, or family with kids - there's a bit for everyone to do. Resort is spacious, beautiful, well kept, weather is beautiful, people are kind. I know we will be coming back!

This Resort Delivered!
Good Day! We were a party of three at this Resort from 17-24 January 2026. We booked two rooms and were upgraded at no charge which was a pleasant surprise. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and secure. The only negative about the room was that the mattress was hard. Pillows were fine and we made do. Bottled water was plentiful. There was lots to see and do on the property…we chose the quiet pool for conversation and close proximity to the ocean. The Entertainment Team was engaging and a ton of fun! The buffet had a great selection of food items and was well marked. Our only complaint was the inability to book THREE a la carte restaurants, which we were entitled to as it was part of our package. With the assistance of Maria at Guest Services we were able to reserve two…the Tequila (Mexican) restaurant and the Don Pablo Restaurant. The property was kept in excellent condition and the staff always greeted you with Hola and a smile!

Safety Warning - Sexual Assault
I do not recommend this resort to any woman traveling here expecting safety. I was sexually assaulted by another guest and reported it to staff. Despite having camera footage that corroborated my account, the hotel failed to act decisively. Security was internally divided, and it took two days—and relentless pressure from me—before anything was done. This ordeal consumed half of my vacation, caused significant distress, and I was offered zero concession or accountability. Repeated requests to speak with senior management were denied. This resort allows a culture where women are unsafe; we heard and witnessed multiple similar incidents. Their handling of sexual assault is unacceptable and dangerous.
