SLIPPERY - BE CAREFUL!!!!
This resort is SLIPPERY! I witnessed people slipping on the tile in the lobby and on the walkways, and the concrete by the pool area multiple times a day. I myself slipped on a small set of stairs in the main pool area and injured myself severely enough I had to go to the hospital. The buffet is full of wildlife - I saw a man get pooped on by a bird while eating his meal. Since the buffet is fully enclosed, I don't know why there are so many birds inside! The food was also a disappointment at the buffet. The A La Carte restaurants were very good. Our favourites were the Italian and the Brazilian. The bathtub in my kids' room was not clean upon arrival. Even though I had requested MONTHS IN ADVANCE to have a room with 2 beds for my 22 year old daughter to share with my 25 year old son, they gave them a room with 1 king size bed and said that was what I requested. They flat out lied to me because my travel agent confirmed that she had sent in the request properly. My son ended up sleeping on the couch. A family that I spoke to said they had booked a crib for their 10 month old baby but the resort was "all out" so the baby had to sleep in bed with the parents (not their ideal situation).

Health safety negligence
We had a mixed experience at Grand Bahia Principe. On the positive side, the resort is beautiful, and the staff were very dedicated and friendly. Unfortunately, we faced significant issues, including our daughters contracting hand, foot, and mouth disease, likely due to cleanliness concerns. We also had problems with our room door and the safe, and found essential items like swim diapers to be overpriced. In summary, while the resort has potential, there are important areas that need improvement, particularly regarding health and safety.

Yay Kids Club!
the kids and teen club staff exceeded my hopes, remembering my son from our previous visit and making him feel special with lots of personalized attention and games. Carlos from the teen club spent most of the day one on one with him, even taking him to play soccer.

Resort is good for older kids 4 and over
This is my 2nd time going to the resort, first time with my kids (baby and 3 year old). Firstly, it was a hassle trying to get a main floor room for us. They wanted to put us on the 3rd floor, which I told them we have a stroller and that would not work. They told us they “had no main floor available”. We had to keep persisting that the 3rd floor would not work, and magically 2 main floor rooms became available. We eventually paid to upgrade our room to a double room which was very nice. The baby cribs are quite low but manageable. If you can request your room before your arrival, I highly recommend doing so. Second, my 3 year old wasn’t allowed on any of the big slides, because she is “too small”(according to lifeguards), and she wasn’t allowed to go on them with an adult. The splash pad area/pool is also very deep(waist deep on an adult), and the splash pad is attached to the pool (no ledge to divide between the pool and splash pad), so I highly recommend bringing a life jacket with you as it is easy to slip into the pool( they don’t provide life jackets). Third, the buffet food is great. Lots of options and they have theme nights (Asian cuisine, Italian, etc). La Gran Tortuga is our favourite Al A Carte restaurant. The Indian restaurant is also good. We tried Don Pablo for the first time, and we didn’t like it ( maybe we’re use to Alberta beef, but the steak tasted off and the Fois Gros tasted gross to me). The bars are excellent and the service is amazing. They will bring you drinks to your table. The entertainment is also good. The silent disco is was our favourite part, as well as the kids party at night. Overall, I won’t be coming back with my young kids as there isn’t much for them to do until they’re older.

Terrifying Security Breach – Intruder Entered Our Locked Room at Night
We stayed at Bahia Principe Grand Tulum in room 1504, across from the kids’ club, on a family holiday booked through TUI, and what happened to us was absolutely terrifying. This was our fourth visit to this hotel, and up until now all of our previous experiences had been very good. Unfortunately, this visit was completely overshadowed by a serious security incident that has left our family shaken. At midnight, while my wife, our two young children, and I were asleep, a man broke into our ground-floor 2-bedroom Premier Suite via the living room patio door, which had been locked previously. He used a scanning device to open our safe and stole £240 in cash. The CCTV footage shows the man walking roughly 200 metres across the resort to our room, entering, and then running out around three minutes later. My wife was only startled when she woke up and saw him in the living room area, which made the situation even more terrifying. While our children were sleeping safely in our bedroom, if they had been on the pull-out bed in the living room, the intruder would have been in very close proximity to them, making the situation far more concerning. The hotel identified the intruder as a guest, and we reported the incident to the local police while he was still on the resort. The suspect has since been charged with robbery. While the hotel staff were helpful during our stay, since returning home it feels like they’ve distanced themselves from our follow-up questions and concerns, which is very disappointing given the seriousness of what happened. This incident caused immense distress to our family. Our children were terrified, and even now my 9-year-old still has nightmares about that night. What should have been a relaxing family trip turned into a frightening and traumatic experience. I truly hope Bahia Principe and TUI take immediate action to improve guest safety, because no family should ever have to experience what we did. Until then, I cannot recommend this resort to anyone concerned about security — and I would strongly advise avoiding ground-floor rooms with direct access to the grounds.
