3 star max. Dated resort, low quality food, nice pool & beach
Review from easy-going travellers who have been to over a dozen resorts. Ive been to Punta Cana 4 times, but this was our 1st time in La Romana. This should be no more than a Three star resort. Everything was just fine. Don't expect anything more than "fine". Pros: Accommodated request to change from 2 double bed room to 1 King room. Assisted us with storing our baby's breast milk in a freezer Beach is great - no sargassum, well maintained with people raking regularly, very calm waters, quiet & chill vibes Pool was spacious and clean with a good amount of pool chairs (as long as you got there before 9am to reserve one). Service at the swim up bar is pretty slow unless you insert yourself in and ask for a drink. Food is just.. okay. Buffet has plenty of options to give you a variety of choices, but the quality of everything is just 'fine'. Most items are overcooked, bland, and lacking flavour. But we're not picky eaters, so we never go hungry lol. The food at the a la carte restaurants was slightly better than the buffet (we tried La Pescador and La Gourmet), although even there the service was lacking and staff couldn't speak English which was a surprise. Needs improvement (everything): Property is dated and everything needs a full refresh. Interlocking brick pathways have hundreds of cracked bricks and you can hear & feel them rattled under your feet and stroller as you walk by. We joked that it was a xylophone walkway and we were making music as we walked on it. Funny.. but this can be a big injury risk if not resolved. Room is spacious but dated. We like a firm bed, but this bed was rock hard, and the pillows are paper thin. Even after getting a massage at the Spa (also just 'fine'), my back was in so much pain after 5 nights on this terrible bed. We woke up sore every morning (and we are only in our early 30s, not old people who are always sore lol). At checkin, reception didn't give any breakdown of description of property, map, amenities, etc. They were sending us on our way with no information, then we had to ask about each thing we wanted information on.. resort map, restaurants, reservations, spa, etc etc.. this information should be explained to every guest in detail at check-in. Service is just okay. It felt like most staff were not genuinely happy to be serving you, especially bartenders (and we were tipping at every drink). When walking past employees, many dont smile or say hello, they don't have the typical server manners of letting you walk before them at a restaurant. 90% of employees speak almost no English. I understand that English is their 2nd language, but this was the least English I've experienced in a resort. Even managers couldn't speak English and wouldn't be able to list the ingredients in a meal you want to order. We managed to get by with the broken Spanish we knew + the broken English they knew. Not faulting anyone for not being multi-lingual.. but I've been to over a dozen resorts and this was the least English speaking staff I've experienced. There were a LOT of spanish-speaking Dominicans on vacation here, over 50% of the visitors that we came across were Dominican. I wonder if it is from the resident villas on the resort that locals may have purchased. This may have something to do with hiring staff that cannot speak any English, if majority of the guests are Dominicans that speak Spanish. Entertainment was fine. Definitely on the lower end compared to other resorts we've been to. Poolside Entertainment was pretty basic and low energy- aerobics, dance lessons, etc. We had a child with us so we just sat away from it. We only went to the adult evening entertainment once and didn't go back after witnessing a pretty brutal rendition of Greece Lightning lip sync / dance. I cant speak to the other nights of Entertainment, but hope it got better. All in all, I'd only come back here if they updated that terrible bed and if I got an AMAZING price.

Nice pool and great weather but…
This resort was rated highly so we tried it out. There were many things that made me rank it at three stars. The food was average at best. It looked very nice, but had very little taste. The rooms themselves were clean but needed updating. There was a lot of flaking paint Rotten wood on some of the outside pieces. The workers were attentive, but did not seem to enjoy their jobs. We travel a lot and we’re just sure that we would not go back to this resort.

They were always at our service to give us anything we want with smiles all the time ,professional groomed also, even the maids put my sandals in order. The food was fabulous at the buffet every night a different them and surprise and never rushed, I was more rushed at the La carte restaurant . Employees working around the clock grooming cleaning all smiling, it was contagious

my goals: sunbed, cocktail, tan, and great food.
My third visit to a Bahia resort, after Punta Cana and Cancun, was just as wonderful! The room was amazing — even more beautiful than at home. Special thanks to my housekeeper, Teresa, always making sure I had everything I needed. Excellent kitchen, delicious food — I truly appreciate the team’s hard work, knowing from experience how demanding hospitality can be.👏👏👏🍷

A very good hotel
We have just returned home after two weeks at this very good hotel. The hotel is about one hour twenty from the airport. Check in was quick and easy , we were asked if we wanted to upgrade to the adult only hotel for an extra thirty dollars a day but we declined. Our room was large and clean and we had a great maid , thank you so much Aleyna , nothing was a bother to her . The food was excellent in the main dining room . There was a great choice every day ,even for children. The chefs did a great job and the waiters didn’t stop . We did two alacart restaurants, the French and the Mediterranean and both were very good The pool restaurant was very good but not as good as selection as the main restaurant. The bars did not stop and had a good stock of drinks , as you can imagine they were very busy . Thank you guys you did a great job .I think the staff are a real credit to the hotel from the senior management team down to the gardeners and cleaners . The pool was busy , but there was enough sun beds for everyone. The beach was clean but the sea was a little bit murky due to the weather. I can,t comment on the entertainment team as we did not have much to do with them. As for the time share team , we never saw them . Now for the downside of the hotel, at the weekends the locals use the hotel , there was no trouble but they can be a bit on the noisy aside with the staff used to them ,so expect the weekends to be busy . Check out was easy and efficient. Overall a very good hotel , well done
