    Good family experience

Nice beach with fish to see when snorting. Good food choices and quantity. Comfortable room (junior suite) basic air conditioning. Hotel is very busy at this time of the year (July). Be prepared for a busy buffet and busy pool/beach. My phone was stolen, be mindful of your personal items. Great for families, with things to do for all ages.

    Very disappointing 😞

Food is descent but the amount of flies in the buffet area was disgusting to say the least. The check in process needs to be changed as you go from one counter to another to fulfill the process. Also, you are allowed one dinner a la carte per stay, if you choose to experience other restaurants you have to pay $50 dollars per room per restaurant. My advice, don't waste your time and money on the Brazilian restaurant as there are a few meat choices and many flies around the buffet area (the restaurant is outdoor and the heat its unbearable).

Never here again, they are filthy

Based on my experience, this resort does not meet the standards of a 5-star establishment. Customers are often treated with indifference; some staff members respond rudely or ignore guests, with a few even displaying visible annoyance. We had to change suites three times due to moldy mattresses infested with black worms or because the rooms were too small for four people. In the end, we had to sleep in three beds, giving in to the hotel's arrogance (they do as they please). Our luggage, which was lost and promptly delivered by Iberia, was held by the hotel for several days before being returned to us. After filing a complaint with the airline, it was confirmed that the luggage had been delivered to the hotel days earlier, causing us significant inconvenience. Despite the recipient being clearly indicated on the suitcase, we had to purchase new clothes, believing the suitcase was lost, incurring additional costs of hundreds of dollars. The location is fantastic, and the people outside the resort are kind and helpful. The food quality is comparable to a 4-star rating, with the fruit being exceptional. However, dining at the main restaurant during lunch and dinner is problematic: service is poor, dishes and cutlery are often dirty, and you have to repeatedly ask for water and wine. The restaurant is frequently overcrowded, making it advisable to avoid it. Moreover, several customers and chefs taste food directly from the buffet or lick their fingers. If you encounter issues in your room, multiple calls to the reception are often required to get what you need. They frequently provided towels for three people, despite our party consisting of four. Frustrated with waiting, we began leaving messages in the room. The bathroom sink faucet broke during our last two days and was never replaced; we had to use the bathtub faucet instead. We learned from locals that the hotel's management has changed, and the 5-star rating is a legacy from previous management. The positives of this resort are the sea, the cleanliness of the beach, the French restaurant, and the security of the facility. Be wary of customer reviews with few reviews done

A place to visit if you did not yet..

We just came back from our 2 weeks vacation and already planning next trip. It was our third time in this hotel and we were not disappointed. The beach, the place, the nature, the food, the personal are the best we saw and received so far. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The staff is doing their best to make your vacation unforgettable. The room was always cleaned in time. We read some comments regarding the water pressure or hard pillows/mattress, cold food in the buffet etc. Remember, nowhere will be as at your home. Don't let those small things to ruin your vacation which maybe was planned a year ago. We did not experience cold food in the buffet. Was always warm and tasty. Did not have issues with digestion or bugs in the room. The only one thing to be improved is WIFI and activities for kids. This time the internet connection was really bad and almost no activities for kids. The a la carte restaurants were really good. We went to Fish Market, La Teriene and Steak House. All were good but our choice for the best is Steak House. It really depends what you like to eat. Overall we loved our experience and will definitely be back. Hope my review will help someone to take decision to visit this place.

Samaná - Stay in Bahia Principe Grand El Portillo

The hotel in general it’s a good place to stay with your family but the WiFi experience was very poor. The food it’s not bad. The best part it’s the beach that it’s awesome. You can have some morning walks to relax your mind. The pools are average.
