  Very disappointed!!!

  After going for a few years this place is now rundown without air-conditioning....I won't go back...the management doesn't care. It's very sad. Time to fine another island.

  “Awful Stay: No AC, Injuries Ignored, No Support”

  ⭐ 1-Star Review for Bahia Principe Grand El Portillo Stay: September 20–24, 2025 My family of 6 stayed at this resort from September 20 to 24, 2025, and our experience was extremely disappointing. Before our trip, I specifically requested that all our rooms be close together because my mother is 94 years old and needs constant care. Instead, the hotel placed us in different buildings, which made it very difficult for us to look after her properly. On top of that, the air conditioning in my room did not work for the entire stay. Despite multiple complaints, the staff never fixed it. It was uncomfortable, especially in the Caribbean heat, and unacceptable given the price we paid. The most distressing part of our stay was that my elderly mother was injured on the hotel property due to negligence. She clearly needed medical attention, yet the staff refused to cover the cost of a doctor. This lack of concern for a 94-year-old guest’s safety and well-being was shocking and completely irresponsible. What should have been a family vacation turned into a stressful and upsetting experience. Bahia Principe Grand El Portillo failed us in every way — from customer service to safety. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially families traveling with seniors.

  Good service. Love the kids club specially Dominga. She is great. Love all The workers. The beach is beautiful. My family loved everything

  The best all inclusive in Las Terrenas

  Stayed at El Portillo in August for my anniversary and I wanted to highlight some of the wonderful staff that made my stay beautiful and memorable. Abel at boa Vista Karina check in desk Joelfrid poolside bar cart Anton romantic dinner on beach Yuderka guest service who helped me book the romantic dinner. Things I loved were the cold fruit water and cookies upon check in. The pool side drinks cart so you don't even have to walk to the bar for a drink. The ambiance of the steak house beach front restaurant. The fishes to see in the water so bring your snorkeling gear. The romantic dinner on the beach was the highlight of my stay. The array of food at the buffet was amazing also. Something for everyone.

  Closer to a 4*

  Nice vacation in Samana. Here are the + and - : + the beach! Soft sand, many palapas/palm trees for shade, hot water, easy to take long walks. (maybe arrive around 7:30 - 8am to reserve chairs) + a la carte restaurants. We did French (good food, portions small; ask for seconds!) Brazilian (meat lover paradise) and Italian (being myself italian i was skeptical, but the food was actually pretty good and HUGE portions). In all 3 restaurants we had great service. + beach buffet (brazilian resto at night); way less busy for breakfast and lunch and great views. (Santa was a great waitress🤩) + food in general at the buffets + sports bar area; service, live music at 8pm and great bartender Nacilso + maid service in our building (#20) + cleanliness all around the resort - main pool; way too small for the size of the resort - service at the main buffet; probably the worst i had in all my Carabean trips (been at least 10times to Cuba and Mexico). Had to get my own water, tables for 4 setup for 2, good luck asking for a beer, etc Remember this is supposed to be a 5* resort… - night animation… do i really need to see 4-5 couples do stupid things for 30min? Beach party… terrible (don’t pack white clothes, not worth it) - alcohol after midnight only at the disco. - older rooms; noisy A/C For what i paid, i am pleased of my vacay, but i would NEVER pay the full price wich is around 1800$ cdn
