Had fun!
Location wasn’t too far, Atmosphere was energetic, Rooms were clean, water was hot A/C was perfect (could use an auto setting), outdated TVs, NO ELEVATOR to gain access to upper level rooms. Value was worth the cost. No problem with noise level. Service made a promise to change room location from first entry to room when there was no elevator found but was not resolved until the 3rd day at 430pm. Lots of amenities to choose from but lack of communication about all of them, and the sister properties and what they had to offer and what could be used at those properties. WiFi is bad so paper maps and menus would be a great addition.

Annual holiday
Beautiful hotel. Lovely beaches. Fabulous pools. We spent 2 weeks here and had a wonderful time. Our room faced the pool and entertainment.centre so it was a little noisy but everything was quiet by 11 pm

We just hot back from the Aquamarine, another great visit!
Just finished another great vacation at the Aquamarine, service was great from check in to Buffets to pool bars and all the A la Cartes! All the staff were very pleasant and helpful! Our room was very clean and the mini bar was kept stocked. The property is beautiful, the rooms although very clean could use an update but certainly wouldn’t stop us from coming back!!

Another Aquamarine Vacay
We visited the Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine Nov 22 to Dec 4 with our three grown children and their spouses. The overall experience was very positive. Having stayed at this resort many times in the past, it once again met our expectations and impressed all. We have stayed at all the resorts with the Bahia complex except the Punta Cana, and Aquamarine remains our favourite. It is the best value, is clean and well kept, provides friendly customer service, decent amenities, plenty of activities and entertainment and tasty diverse food choices. The rooms are a nice size and well appointed though they have a tired feel and are in need of maintenance and or refurbishment. The cleaners did a great job and worked hard. Our AC worked fine, but expelled a lot of condensation. Bed was firm but comfy and there were lots of soft pillows. Water pressure was excellent with plenty of hot water always available. There is a whirlpool tub but we did not use it. We had a pool side view, which was great in the daytime but at night it was loud, therefore earplugs are recommended if you go to bed early. The grounds are gorgeous and very well maintained. The vegetation is varied and lush. You always feel to be in a tropical garden, no matter what part of the Bahia complex you happen to be in. We mainly frequented the pools while there. There are three, side by side and a quiet spa pool. There were plenty of loungers, with some always available. They could use more umbrellas as most people seem to want shade and if you didn’t get up early, it was hit and miss if you’d get one. The water was usually quite clear and the temp was refreshing. They clean it well every morning. The bathrooms do get crowded at times, especially the ladies, and the dedicated cleaner seems to get overwhelmed. The entertainment team was super friendly and provided assorted fun activities at decent intervals. Isaac and Ray treated us like gold but they were all great. The pool bar offered a great choice of cocktails and service was typically quick, though by the afternoon, it slowed down as small crowds developed at both the stand up and swim up counters. The servers in the pool area were excellent and we used them frequently as they rarely disappointed. They were all great, Luciano, Juan, Yorky, and Aldolpho. Luciano kept us topped up and is the sweetest girl, often calling us mamy and papy. The lobby bar had a good choice of basic hard liquor. There was a fee for anything top shelf. The bartenders were typically very attentive, though in the evenings, a short wait was not unusual. There was another bar available in the tented entertainment area in the evenings. This was also the main smoking area. Servers did make their rounds but were sometimes slow with drinks, especially in the evenings. An assortment of coffee. beverages were available from two lobby coffee machines. The coffee station also had water, flavoured water and sweets. Be advised it doesn’t open until 0700. Front desk staff were generally very helpful and friendly. We found Mikey was great! He was courteous, helpful and spoke good English. There is a (shared) modern well equipped gym located between the resort and the Ambar. It has a good selection of free weights, machine weights, cardio machines and a stretching area. The beach area is beautiful, with the seaweed not being too bad during our visit. Any that is present is quickly cleaned up early in the morning. The water was rough at times but we were able to swim often. Watch for the colour of the flags because if the red flag is up, you really are taking a chance going in for a swim. As Privilege Club members we didn’t use the Aquamarine beach area so we can’t comment directly. The beach is a 5-10 min walk from the lobby, but carts are available. The beach house buffet is a crazy spot at lunchtime, therefore we always avoided it. The buffet offered plenty of delicious choices and never seemed overly crowded. There were stations for freshly cooked omelettes and fried eggs in the morning and for lunch and dinner they changed to pasta and meat stations. The greeters and wait staff were typically very attentive and polite. Smiles and trying a little Spanish on them went a long way and got you better service. Edwin was super friendly with us and always ensured we were well looked after during breakfast. They list four ala cartes restaurants for the resort, but we’ve only ever tried the gourmet restaurant, El Olivia next to the buffet. We like it and have always had great service there. Our favourite waiter, Edwin works there in the evening. There’s a Sports Bar too which is shared with the neighbouring Ambar resort. It’s only opened in the evenings, offers outdoor and indoor seating, has games, lots of TVs and pretty a good selection of tasty pub fare. There are a variety of evening shows with early lounge type entertainment typically available and then a more traditional show around 2100. Some samplings included a circus show, retro show, silent disco, karaoke and fire show. It’s not Vegas by no means but it’s decent resort type entertainment most will enjoy. We tipped well and the service we received reflected that. It’s of course a personal choice but the staff are very appreciative and count on it to supplement their meager wages. USD, DOP and CAD (bills only) are accepted, with USD being their favourite from our experience. We would recommend the BP Grand Aquamarine every time. It is our favourite within the Bahia complex. In fact, we have our next stay already reserved and we can’t wait.

Great Spot minus bed issues
Well first I will get the bad part out of the way. We went with 2 other couples and we all had the same experience with the beds, they were the hardest I have ever tried to sleep on at a resort. We all looked to see if they forgot the mattress and it was just the box spring it was that hard. I have been to many resorts and this was the worst bed by far. Part 2 of negative was that none of our patio doors locked or had a bar on them, good thing it was 3rd floor. The check in was pretty quick and the bellboys were great as the took all our luggage up the 3 flights of stairs to our room (no elevators). The rooms were what we booked (Jr Suite) and they were fairly clean and had some items in mini bar. We were at the top of Aquamarine in the 84 area so not far from lobby. Tried 6 of the a la Carte (El Olivo, MEAT, Oriental Takara, Tequila, Portofino, Capricco) and they were all very good, we were not overly impressed with the beef at MEAT but I think our expectations might have been too high as it was good. The lemon dessert at Oriental Takara was outstanding. We did the buffet one night and it was very good with lots to pick from. One of the better breakfast buffets we have had with quality and selection. I will say the red wine quality from place to place was hit and miss, one night could not even drink it. Had no trouble getting places to sit at the beach or pool but doing it by 7am was usually the key to get a spot that had shade as well. A number of vendors on the beach but all you had to do was say no thank you and they kept going. We never used the servers on the beach or at the pool as it was good to get up and walk around a bit after those hard beds. The only thing that was confusing is we were told we could use all the pools but we tried to get a beer at the Ambar Pool bar and the bartender told us no and then him and his coworker laughed at us as we left, not cool. So where you could get a drink seemed hit and miss. Being many resort sections in that one area there was lots of areas for walking and the grounds were well maintained. Lots of cats around but none came up to us which was good. Signs said not to pat them but lots of people feeding them and even holding them and patting them so hope they did not catch anything off the cats. The check in lobby had a cashier where we were able to change out some of our larger Dominican Pesos for smaller bills for tipping. We took down some items for the housekeeping and it was the first time we had to fill out forms for what we gave them (crayons, colored pencils, etc). problem with that was the housekeeper had to find you so you could fill them out. Had a few nights the doors slamming woke me up but overall not too bad for noise. Never turned on the tv so no comments on that. Wifi worked well. Overall a great spot.
