    TOO MANY CATS!!

Baja principal grand aquamarine was inundated with cats. The property is too beautiful to have so many cats, it ruined my vacation. I am allergic to cats. I don’t like cats. They scare me -the whole time I was there I was totally uncomfortable. I couldn’t sit at the pool because they would come to the pool- they came in the restaurants they were in the lobby. It just messed up my whole vacation. The lobby staff at both lobbies I thought that they were very rude unfriendly but the staff in the restaurants and at the pool were very friendly.

Best Adults Only Resort in Punta Cana

This Resort was the most beautiful resort I've ever stayed at. The pools were amazing. The people/staff/entertainment were great. Very friendly. Jose (entertainment) was the best dancer and entertainer. The food at the buffet and the a la carte dinners were perfection. Our room was always clean - very spacious. I can't say enough good things about this resort. I highly recommend going there.

    Good overall experience

I returned last week from a five day stay at Aquamarine. The staff there were very welcoming. The service at the buffet was excellent, as it was at each of the a la cart restaurants. Make sure to book the Indian restaurant ( extremely good) The breakfast buffet had many choices as did lunch. The lunch buffet at the beach was also great and practical. Loved the tacos! Drinks at the pool were fine and service there was great. I found the beach area a bit confusing as it took us a day or so to understand where and what we had access to. There is no one there to guide you. There are some facilities that are shared between the hotels and others that are not. We went each evening to the Limbo cocktail bar in the Amber section. A must! The mixologist made us the most amazing cocktails. At night we would go to the main lobby of the Grand Bahia ( the biggest hotel) and we would enjoy the lively atmosphere, and entertainment. Being able to retreat back to our quieter Aquamarine for a non disturbed sleep. The room was clean, but nothing luxurious. We were pool side, and that was very nice. The last night we ate at the buffet, that buffet left a bit be desired, but most people eat at the a la cart restaurants for supper, so that’s probably why it is not the best. The sports bar is available every night as well. I wouldn’t rate this as a big 5 star hotel, there are a few things that could use improvement. That said, I must give 5 stars to our overall experience. We eat well, slept well and had a good time. I would definitely return.

    Big fat ZERO

Review: Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine – Punta Cana, Dominican Republic Our group of eight, including myself and my 30-year-old special needs son, stayed at the Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine Resort in Punta Cana, and it was one of the most disappointing resort experiences I’ve ever had. Room & Cleanliness: From the moment we checked in, the room smelled strongly of mildew and mold. We immediately notified the attendant, and although they placed a dehumidifier in the room, the odor and dampness persisted. The beds were extremely uncomfortable — more like sleeping on a slab of cardboard with a thin layer of foam. There were only sheets on the beds, no blankets, and the bathtub had visible mold and mildew. Cleanliness was far below acceptable standards for a resort of this level. Facilities & Quality: I bought my son a pool float from one of the resort stands — a simple pineapple float for $29 (and even pool noodles were $27). Within 12 hours of gentle use — just floating, no rough play — the float split at the seam. When I brought it back, the vendor patched it multiple times, but it deflated again within 30 minutes. Despite being less than a day old, they refused to exchange or refund it, showing a “No Refunds, No Exchanges” sign. Beach & Staff Behavior: At the beach, one staff member walking around with a parrot was aggressively trying to sell photos. When I declined, he insulted me by calling me a “ladyboy,” which was both offensive and inappropriate. Another vendor trying to sell parasailing made rude comments to a member of our group, saying, “You must not have any money,” when he declined the offer. He even mocked others in our party, asking why they didn’t have tattoos on their heads like our friend did. The entire experience was unprofessional, demeaning, and disrespectful. Food, Drinks & Service: The food was mediocre, repetitive, and bland. Drinks were watered down and served in very small cups, forcing guests to spend most of their time standing in line for refills. The staff were generally unhelpful and dismissive. When issues were brought up, there was no attempt to make things right — no extra beds, no extra linens, and no sense of true hospitality. Nightlife & Atmosphere: The resort advertises nightly entertainment and parties, but in reality, there’s very little nightlife for younger or middle-aged adults. Most of the activities seemed geared toward retirees. If you’re between 20 and 50 and hoping for a fun, lively, or social vacation, this is not the place for you. It’s extremely quiet, lacks energy, and offers no real entertainment or nightlife scene. Overall Experience: I would not recommend this resort to anyone. The accommodations were subpar, the facilities unclean, the food and drinks disappointing, and the staff behavior unacceptable. The resort atmosphere felt dull and unwelcoming, and the lack of professionalism and hospitality was shocking. ⭐ Rating: 0 out of 5 stars Save your money and your time. There are far better resorts in Punta Cana that are cleaner, more fun, and treat guests with the respect and service everyone deserves on vacation.

Beware that your Reservation may get cancelled by Bahia and then Sorry !!

On Oct 13th my wife and I travelled from Ottawa (Home) to Trudeau Airport and flew to Punta Cana on Sunwing / WestJet for a 2 week vacation to Bahia Principe AquaMarine Hotel. We had previously visited the Ambar Hotel and also Bahia's Hotel in Samana El Portillo. We are both 66 years old and have travelled many times in the past but mostly to Cuba and a few occassions to Mexico. Finally after a long day of travel we arrived at the reception desk around 3:30pm. I handed the employee our Voucher with our info and he began to do his search. After a few minutes he consulted a colleague at the desk and then they spoke to us in English that there was a "Problem" with our reservation. He further explained that our "Reservation" was cancelled on Oct 11th in their system and he actually showed it to me on his computer although he did not see a reason. We were of course shocked as this has never happened before to us. We all thought that Sunwing did not maybe pay for reservarion to Bahia ? They made some phone calls but nothing was solved. Finally Gilberto went to speak to Raysa (Ex-Sunwing employee) who worked for Amstar Tours and after telling her our situation she knew the local person to call who was in charge for Sunwing in the area. No reason was found but in the end we were asked to pay with a credit card $247USD which they would refund to us the next morning when the situation was resolved. We were in the Lobby for 3 hours dealing with this mess. It seemed like if we did not do that we would have been forced to sleep in the Hot and Humid Lobby. The next morning the issue was resolved and we found out by email that it was the fault of "Bahia's Reservation System" that cancelled our paid reservation and not Sunwing. I have all of the emails that went back and forth. The issue is despite knowing that Bahia messed up BIG TIME the only compensation we got was "SORRY" actually many times. Not acceptable I told them however they never offered any other gesture to us like maybe enjoy a "Free Spa" etc on us for your inconvenience. Nothing at all from them. They seemed to think it's find to mess up your vacation and cause you lots of stress upon arrival and even after knowing the facts that it was 100% their fault you are told "Sorry" see you next time. After arriving home and doing their survey they again said "Sorry" and I told them to keep it then they finally offered to give us something which was the "VIP" treatment next time we visit. Well you know what why would I visit Bahia again ? I do want to say that the front line Staff at the reception were professional and obviously were surprised as much as we were at the cancellation. It is the Administration above them that is unprofessional. So vacationers be careful and maybe be prepared that this can happen to you and if it does "SORRY" is what you will get. Awful treatment.
