water park was closed Few umbrellas in the pool area.
Although the food, drinks, and the warm, respectful, and professional service from everyone at the hotel are excellent, the facilities are in urgent need of renovation. The day after we arrived, the children's water park was closed — this is not fair. Even though another Bahia Principe hotel has a functioning water park, everyone who paid full price to stay at Bahia Principe Fantasia did so with children in mind and expecting the child-friendly concept the hotel promotes.

Honest opinion
Hello, initial impression on arriving early evening, was that is was a bit grubby. After 2 weeks stay I would put the hotel down as a 3 star max. Rooms were ok and were cleaned every day. Beds comfy. Plenty of towels. Room maids and staff very good and friendly. Air conditioning noisy. Shower was hit and miss with the temperature. The wrist bands that opened the room doors had to be re set at reception 7/8 times as they regularly didn’t work. Mini fridge only stayed cold when you were in the room, so had to wait a couple of hours for a cold drink from the fridge. No English speaking TV channels whatsoever. Restaurants - again 3 star max. Buffet restaurant had plenty of food in it, but was all very similar. Unfortunately most of the meat I ate was tough. The vegetables and salads were ok. The puddings were the normal mass bought in ones, the type you could drop and it would bounce back up to you. Tea and coffee was poor all over the hotel really. (Cold) I’m afraid the specialty restaurants were also not the best. The Teppanyaki being the best one, but poor desserts again from them. Drinks were poor during the day, with evening bar drinks being better. Example of this being a Piña colada was just a icy slushy drink from a machine, not a proper cocktail. Plenty of tipping will get you better drinks. All the soft drink machines weren’t working and things like coke and lemonade were served from 2L bottles, so a lot of the time it was flat. The ice cream machines at the hotel wasn’t ice cream as we know it. It was like a condensed cream sort of frozen whip. Again the snack bars were poor. An example - hamburgers tasted like spam (luncheon meat) not good. Some of the evening entertainment was good, some poor. People were allowed to drink in the pool, so a lot of drinks were getting sloshed around in the pool causing the water to become quite murky at times. Pool staff and entertainment around the pool was good and they were all very friendly and helpful. Music very load if sat at one end of the pool. Did a few excursions which were very good, but be aware of the very expensive and big sell of the photos at the end. Couple of non TUI guys based in reception pestering you to go shopping at some really good shops where you can barter the price. Turned out it was 2 rubbish souvenir shops in the middle of nowhere, charging a fortune.

Would come here again
I feel the reviews on this hotel are quite harsh. We have just returned from two weeks as a family of five, two adults one 15yo one 12yo and one 5yo. Plenty of things to keep the kids entertained can use the pools in the other Bahia principe hotels on site. Beach is a coupe of minutes walk or there is a little shuttle that goes back and forth. Food was mostly good, got a bit repetitive but don’t they all? Drinks were lovely and didn’t disappoint. Pools nice and clean and big enough, don’t need to get up early for beds as there is plenty some days we didn’t go out til after 10 or we’d go the beach of a morning and come back and there was still plenty of beds. Most of the staff are friendly and polite. Only a couple of negatives. First one is the rooms, we managed but the rooms are small for a family of 5 all varying in age, two double beds one sofa bed! So two kids had to share. The bathroom has a huge glass window into the bedrooms and the pull over blinds aren’t on the bathroom side their on the bedroom side and don’t go all the way to the edge so a bit more privacy would have been nice. Another issue with the room is the maids do not clean the rooms properly they come in and make your bed for you don’t wipe around or brush honestly don’t think our room was wiped or brushed in two weeks! After 8 days our beds still hadn’t been changed so we stripped them so they had to change the sheets other wise I think they’d still be on now! we didn’t spend much time in the room so it wasn’t a huge issue just could have been better. Second was how expensive their shops are on site and unfortunately you don’t have anything to go to off site! The beach had the same prices as the hotel! They wanted… 25 USD for a standard bucked and spade that you could go to home and bargain here and get for a few quid! Mosquito spray 15 USD Coldsore cream 30USD! One pack of crisp and two packs of sweets 27 USD! Not moaning as we did buy them but just felt it was not reasonable at all! Also we were told to take their money but they actually mainly use USD! Would come here again and stay in any of their reports on this site. Make sure you take your mosquito spray they are bad here! Over 100 bites on my legs alone!

Nice stay but with some points to improve
We had a pleasant stay — the staff were very friendly and housekeeping did a great job. The main restaurant was excellent, but the à la carte reservation system needs improvement. Rooms are comfortable but the furniture is outdated, and the pool cleanliness could be better. Overall, good experience with room for improvement.
