The Aston Waikiki Sunset pool area will be closed for maintenance work and repairs to the pool tile and deck Feb 24, 2013 - Mar 15, 2013. Work will be restricted to 8:00a.m. - 4:30p.m. Monday - Friday.
The Recreation Deck will still remain open and available for use including the tennis court, BBQ grills, hospitality room, and restrooms with saunas.Pool closure dates and times are subject to change without prior notification.

Jul 26, 2025Highly disappointing
We were highly disappointed in the condition of the property and the unit. For what we paid, we could have stayed someplace much nicer quality. The carpet and furniture in the unit were very worn and dirty. We were on the 24th floor and the bedroom windows did not fully close, which was not only a safety concern, but made it very noisy from the wind, street noise and roosters. The blind in the bathroom was broken and didn't close - privacy issue. The furniture in the two bedrooms was switched - the queen size bed was in the smaller room and the two twin beds were in the larger room. My husband and I ended up sleeping in twin beds on our wedding anniversary in order to have more space, ugh. Overall, this was not what we expected based upon our travel agent recommendation and previous reviews.

Check in is open only for a short time. They leave the key in an envelope. Only one key with no room number written. It’s hard to speak with the front desk as they open late and close like 4pm. The apartment was very outdated. Paint was coming down everywhere! Location is good!

Jul 19, 2025Bad Experience on the 34th floor.
We stayed on the 34th floor 7/3 thru 7/17 and had water pressure issues as in no hot water showers at about 8:30pm 7/4 and 7/5. After that we would either come back early to shower and go back out or shower after 10pm. Very inconvenient and unacceptable! Even when there was some hot water, the water volume coming out of the shower head was very low. When I called the front desk, a guy explained to me that when the hot water gets low, the pressure is also low and it won't get up to the 34th floor. I called back a couple of hours later and I was told that there was something wrong with the boiler, but nobody had been called yet to fix it. I asked if there were other places to shower and I was told that it was a hotel wide issue and that all the floors were the same. One of those guys lied to me and I think it was the second. At one point I went to talk to the front desk and they were familiar with the issue. I asked if there was somewhere else to shower and the lady said that me might be able to get access to the pool shower. Again, the 2nd guy I spoke to above lied to me so, I assume, that he wouldn't have to do extra work and get us access to the pool shower. Through out the trip, my son would test the water pressure and temperature at around 8 to 9 pm and it was always low and cool. The view of the beach and of Diamond Head were great. The lady who worked the parking garage was very helpful in getting us set up with the weekly parking. The front desk staff of the hotel were not helpful at all which ended up costing us $28 extra. Do not pay for parking inside the hotel.

More air conditioning and working/fast elevators. The wait was a bit much at times. Could use a hot tub. Kids took over pool. Maybe some adult entertainment after hours. Great staff. Clean rooms. Everything else definitely surpassed my expectations.

Jul 11, 2025A week of joy in Hawaii
The bed and pillows were amazing! I had to ask for maintenance twice and they came and sorted my issues out within 10 minutes from my call! The location is great - not on the main drag but 5 minutes walk to everything. All the reception staff were so helpful and happy - so they made me happy. It was simply Aloha from start to finish!
- AdvisoryPlease be advised that effective immediately, the Aston Waikiki Sunset will no longer be able to accommodate parking for oversized vehicles. Any vehicle larger than a minivan will not fit into the garage. Please take this into consideration before making a rental decision.
- AdvisoryThe City and County of Honolulu, Department of Planning and Permitting implemented Revised Ordinance 22-7 (Bill 41(2021)which, among other things, requires all guests to sleep in bedrooms or a living room with a sofa bed, no more than 2 adults per room. Because of the new law the property will honor existing bookings for travel up to Nov 30,2022. But for any arrivals from Dec 01,2022,forward, both properties will be unable to accommodate any one bedroom bookings with 5 guests.
