  Shoutout to Christopher, one of the resort staff members

  Overall I had a great experience at the resort. Christopher, one of the staff members, is a chest master and provided a different type of entertainment compared to what’s found at most other resorts. It was fun to play chess against him and he’s very good at teaching. Definitely great for the kids to get off their device’s.

  Nice room. Lovely beach. Good walks. Average food

  We returned a week ago from The Royalton hotel in Five Islands. I'd been looking at reviews for weeks before departure and was very alarmed to see that nearly all of them were bad. I can usually get a general opinion of hotels looking at reviews, there is always the odd bad one but these were especially awful. Maybe some people’s expectations are higher than ours but we thought this hotel was lovely. It’s in a beautiful location, lovely beach, perfect sunsets, great walks around the big lake, or to other deserted beaches (Hideaway beach, Yepton beach), or the steep climb up to Fort Barrington. And if you like watching cruise ships there are excellent views of them too, especially from the footbridge over the lake. Our room was on 5th floor facing the lake and was spotless and cleaned every day with plenty of towels etc. If we were going to have any criticism at all, it would be the food really. We’re not foodies and the buffet had some delicious dishes, although it was a bit inconsistent. Our only worry was that it wasn’t kept hot enough, so we made sure the fish and meat was cooked freshly while we waited, the tuna was especially good. There was always a dish of cold French fries too which was a bit strange! We never queued more than 5 mins to sit outside, It was quite chilly (air con) inside, which was probably why the food wasn’t hot enough. The Italian and Caribbean restaurants were in lovely locations on the beach, although the food was fairly mediocre and not very special. The coffee shop is very good with delicious pastries, sandwiches and ice cream too, and the staff are very helpful. I would go back to this hotel, hopefully next time they will have sorted the buffet out. Most of the staff were lovely, with one or two looking like they didn’t want to be there, but it's like that in most of the hotels we've stayed at in the Caribbean. Overall a very good holiday.

  A good hotel but I wouldn't grade it as a 5 star, Lots of plus points, but sadly element's let it down

  I write this review as as balanced and fair observation of our 14 day holiday at this hotel. The hotel hotel room was clean and the bed was comfortable . Mini bar re-stocked every day , the food was ok. the Steak house was well worth a visit and do great steaks. Sadly the Caribbean and the Italian restaurants was disappointing we tried them a couple of times and sadly many of what was on the menu had run out, to be fair our bookings was around 8pm. We stayed all inclusive which was good, drinks a plenty. If there was an issue, reception staff was quick to sort things out. The pools was good and was heated which I was pleasantly surprised. the Vibe team was very Good and organised various activities around the pool. A big shout out for Terry he was very good, always had time to have a chat. Our room Maid Wendy was lovely , always happy, very helpful , always smiling and very hard working!! She always asked if we needed anything. All the ladies in the coffee lounge was hard working, very friendly and very quick to know what we would drink on a daily bases. the Bars was good and well stocked , the ladies in the all black uniforms, I would guess they was Restaurant supervisors , again made you welcome. There was an airstream snack shack by the Kids pool, Staff was very friendly, helpful and burgers were outstanding. On the whole majority of the staff was attentive polite, however I did feel some staff was lazy and guest was just in the way of their daily shifts. The entertainment was ok , the Michael Jackson Thriller act was very good. As with most hotel entertainment, was dancing to music. So I wasn't surprised, but I could take it or leave it. I believe the hotel was built in 2019 , but the hotel does look tired in places. We did enjoy our holiday and most of the staff worked their socks off. Nearly forgot the Bell boys was very friendly and helpful. I don't think this hotel warrants a 5 star rating but would say it would be more fairly rated as a 4 star.

  Fun in the Sun at the Royalton, Antigua

  We (4) totally enjoyed our holiday at this beautiful resort. The beach and the whole area surrounding it was lovely and upscale. The buffet style restaurant presented an extensive variety of tasty dishes. We always chose to eat outside in order to enjoy the beautiful flowering bushes and soft breezes. At the a la carte restaurants by the beach, the sound of the waves and the view of lights sparkling on the Caribbean, provided a beautiful background to our dinners. Our wait staff was usually very friendly and happy to please. The nightly entertainment was not always to my liking, but improved with a chocolate martini, or two. Check out was organized and efficient. All in all, a lovely break for our family. Thanks , Royalton, Antigua. t

  Very disappointing resort experience.

  This resort was the worst one I have ever stayed at. Room problems started right away with only the phone in the bathroom working (they did fix the main one), the shower door didn't close completely so we had towels on the floor to catch the water spraying out, twice we didn't have warm water for showers, and when we called about our room not staying at a constant temperature the maintenance person told us it couldn't be set to hold a temperature so just turn the air off and on as needed. So we were either too cold or the room was too muggy and who wants to get up in the middle of the night and try to turn it off/on. Our hallway had water on the floor every minute we were there with just a wet floor warning sign. The food was the biggest disappointment of all. They don't tell you that you have to have reservations for the steak house and Italian restaurant. When we tried to get a reservation for either place they were full until 8:30-9:00. The buffet food was served cold unless they cooked it right in front of you and we didn't find the selection to be anything we wanted. The bar had a very limited menu and to make matters worse they couldn't make a philly sandwich or fish n chips the entire week we were there. One night it took them over 1.5 hours to make us 3 hamburgers. Another night they served us rare hamburgers. We did enjoy the coffee shop and the burgers made in the trailer by the kids swimming area. They advertise room service but the selection of what you can order is very small and they say it may take up to 90 minutes to get what you order. Most of the employees were friendly, the beach was nice and we enjoyed the excursions they helped us set up. But overall, I would never go back and I am disappointed that we chose to go here.
