  Not with the money for the Chairman’s Bungalows unless …

  Hard to know what to say … I read all the reviews and dove in anyway! The good: 90% of the staff is friendly. Breakfast in the Diamond area is good enough. The bed is comfortable enough make sure you use the pillow menu. So what’s the issue? If you are in the chairman’s overwater bungalows you are in the luxury hotel price range and this not. (I travel globally - over 100 nights a year in hotels). The bungalows could be lovely but they are not well maintained - shower was filthy with mildew and bad caulking. Doors that didn’t properly close - shutters that worked, just. But more importantly you are interrupted every few minutes in the afternoon by loud jet skis - ok it’s a resort - of course there are jet skis but we didn’t expect the booze cruise catamarans blaring rock music every 30 min. They were so loud and disruptive you literally couldn’t avoid them - pulling up onto the beach and offloading partying passengers. Luckily we had a bungalow that looked out in the bay not the beach - but we still couldn’t avoid them going 15 yards from the plunge pool at full volume. The food after breakfast peaked at TGI Fridays - we ate in the Diamond Italian and Caribbean restaurant - arguably TGI Fridays is better. The menus were uninspired and the food was distinctively average. They also limit the room service app to 2 items per person - so if you want a salad … sandwich and some fruit … it won’t take the order, necessitating two orders and a phone call for any room service meals. (We actually enjoy McDonalds and avoid Michelin Stars … so average is good and this was not.). We never received the right order and everything required two trips. So if you want a party atmosphere - all inclusive and good enough - this is for you. If you think spending $2500 or more a night should come with peace and quiet, service that doesn’t require chasing and food that makes you not want to miss a meal … then spend your money elsewhere.

  Not a 5 star

  beautiful beach area, with a nice secluded bay, with good swimming. The resort is definitely not a 5 star, but very clean. Food is adequate but limited in choice compared to other resorts we have visited. dislikes are pot smoking through out the resort, was so bad at entertainment multiple families left. and staff don't seem to care about much, service is ok but not 5 star, and you have to line up for the buffet and sign in and be seated...really slows things down. No self serve food anywhere except buffet. Even sports bar has a menu..no late night finger foods...not a resort I would return to

  Solo Female Traveler from NYC Approved!

  The absolute best all inclusive experience I have had! The drinks were top notch at every bar, the food was great, and the staff made everything even better! Shout out to the luggage porters, the vibes team, and all the amazing bartenders for providing such a lovely experience. I highly recommend booking a treatment at the spa- the amenities are 10/10 and the massage was amazing! The gym and workout classes were really good as well. I didn’t get to try everything, but I loved all the activities they had planned. The nightly entertainment is great, and they make sure you have a fun time! I traveled solo and had a great time, all the staff made me feel very comfortable and I will definitely be returning. I was a bit worried about how the food would be before I got there- I was only there for a short trip and didn’t have much time to go off the resort for food. I was pleasantly surprised by everything I ate- I didn’t expect to like it much, but it was at the very least, good and real food. I mostly stuck to the cultural dishes at the buffet, enjoyed my steak at the steakhouse, liked the Caribbean restaurant and the beachside lunch spot. The food truck and the jerk chicken at the beach was fire! I was really impressed by all the cocktails I tried- everything tasted great and was strong af. I booked this short trip to get away and unwind. The scenery and the people of Antigua truly breathed life back into me. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did! Special shout out to some amazing staff like Diane, Shemar, Maliki, and the other staff all around the resort for being the best (I should’ve wrote down everyone’s name!) I advise tourists to visit the Royalton Antigua with an open mind- you are interacting with real people who are welcoming you to their home! Hiccups can happen, and your idea of “paradise” is someone’s reality. Everything won’t always be perfect, but at the Royalton, they strive to make every day feel like a great one. Be mindful of where you are and the energy you are bringing. The Royalton Antigua will reward you with a great stay.

  Fun hotel, failing food

  Royalton Antigua can be a fun place... lively beach with music and cocktails, evening entertainment, drinks served at your sunbed. Not dull by any means. And some nice people working in the Vibes team. The big disappointment is the food. Buffet is ok for breakfast and lunch but evening is not good. Nothing we enjoyed eating. Feature restaurants were a little better except the steak place (Hunters) which was grim. Italian is about the only reasonable option. And the fussy main restaurant staff who decided which table you'd have sucked the joy out of anyone's day. And just try to get a second drink with any meal....no chance.... the service seems to deliberately avoid more than one. Maybe they are trying to save money. Royalton could be good.... just fix the poor food and utterly unwilling dining service.

  Shoutout to Christopher, one of the resort staff members

  Overall I had a great experience at the resort. Christopher, one of the staff members, is a chest master and provided a different type of entertainment compared to what’s found at most other resorts. It was fun to play chess against him and he’s very good at teaching. Definitely great for the kids to get off their device’s.
