Great Visit at a wonderful resort.
Great pools, good rooms, good service. Excellent dining experience at Morimotos. Our check in experience was OK, our friends experience was not. I felt that the process was rushed, as there were only two people working and several people waiting The pools are phenomenal. at least 3 infinity pools and plenty of lounges (September may be the slow season though). The attendents at the pool were cheerful and helpful. There was always fresh water and a big jug of sunscreen at each pool. My wife had a massage at the spa, she said it was wonderful. The valet guys were great, swift and helpful. As far as I can tell, you cannot self park. Finally, I really liked the Welsie gallery. Whimsical prints that are all over the resort. They may not be other people's "thing", but I really liked them. We plan on being back, hopefully in 18 mos.

5 star to Vicky Yahiku for handling our concerns so well and best resort with best view
I am giving this review as 4 because of Vicky Yahiku who handled our concerns gracefully and very considerate of the issues we faced with other front desk managers. I would have given 1 star because of that guy and would have given 5 star rating for other staff, property, location and overall experience but don’t want to penalize others because of 1 person. Overall this hotel is very beautiful with great experience. However, I would like to share an experience about activities which are part of resort fees as during my 2 day stay most of the activities were completely filled or booked so we were not able to make use of most of the resort activity experience and few which we were able to book got canceled. So I would like to suggest for every guest hotel should have allotted separate slots for their specific stay dates as we were at the property for 2 nights and 3 days and most of the slots available for off hours or not at all available for first 2 days of the stay. I believe hotel should have prepared a plan to give fair opportunities to all the guests instead of the booking activities based on the slots. As guest with 2-3 days of stay will not have must slots available whereas one who’s staying for 5 day might still get some chance to avail those activities. Ideally everyone should be given equal opportunities. Special mention and 5 star for their junior level front desk staff and Vicky Yahiku who resolved most of our concerns during the checkout process though whatever we faced can’t be undone but still giving 4 stars for overall experience and 5 Stars to her for handling everything well during the checkout. I hope other guests will have more wonderful experiences and should not face that we faced during our special occasion because of one person. Overall great rooms, great location and best sunset view.

Denied the committed plans. Ruined my 30th birthday.
Zero stars for ruining my 30th birthday. You won't get anything you wish or expect of from booking your stay here apart from ruining your event and wasting your money. My husband booked this hotel for my birthday three months prior to our arrival, arranging and planning the day for me. The hotel is sufficiently pocket biting but on the very last two nights of our twelve day long trip we were expecting luxury and the feeling of being welcome only to be extremely disappointed. The very high 'Resort Fee' which claims to include so many activities only feels good on paper as they'll always tell you that there are no slots left or will be available on off timings suiting them definitely no consideration for the wish of the guests whatsoever. Making you wonder why am I even paying it if I'm not even allowed to use the amenities aligned with the fee. I won't really call out to the staff as they are extremely polite and warm but definitely would call out the at present Manager - Mathew who committed to something first then completely denied it in a span of less than 24 hours. Making us look like complete bafoons who should have rather recorded the conversation as a legit proof about the facts and facets promised. Like really I've stayed in hotels literally in the past week for one-third of the price with commendable service and dedication towards their guests. 'Guests' the word itself means something which apparently is missing from their dictionary because never in my life have I had someone made me feel bad about expecting the bare minimum after paying so much money which is hard earned and ruining our special day and feeling so so so disappointed to not have booked another hotel in the same area. Really sad guys like really sad.

Andaz is a Great Resort but needs some Work in areas
We have been coming to Hawaii for 25 years and have visited all of the islands and most of the cities and towns. We like the Andaz very much. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t need work. We are staying in a magnificent villa. We love our accommodations and our view. We are also paying dearly for them. One night on our stay they had a wedding on the lawn in front of our villa with amplified music and it ruined our day. After vocalizing my opinion they accommodated us, which I appreciate. But I wish it had not happened at all. That would have been best. Every other day has been pretty much perfect. The Ka’ana kitchen for breakfast is fabulous. We also dined at the Ka’ana Kitchen for dinner the other night and liked it so much that we are going again tonight. And we make it a policy not to eat at the hotel! The villa concierge is attentive but not very good. For instance, when I asked for a restaurant list before the trip, they sent me a standard list of restaurants in the area. Not a list of restaurants that are reviewed and recommended by the hotel. This is pretty typical I am afraid, but it still does not make me happy about it, especially when I am paying top dollar. Their restaurant list was worthless. I could have found it on the internet. Everything else I had to figure out and plan out on my own. And this is with the “superior”villa concierge. Luckily we have been to Maui probably 15 times and I love vacation planning. In short, it has failings to be sure, but we love our villa at the Andaz and I am already planning our return. PS: Don’t eat at Morimoto. I thought the bad reviews were not accurate and we went. They are accurate. The sushi and sashimi are not good and the prices are crazy. Hawaii has fabulous food. Everything is so fresh. You can eat almost anywhere and have an amazing meal. But not Morimoto. You do not have to eat at an expensive restaurant in Hawaii. The food is that good here.
