Five Star Luxury
My husband and I have a rule that with an entire world to explore we never return to the same location, but Ambergris Cay is the exception to the rule and we returned exactly a year after our first visit and this time we brought along friends to experience this five star luxury service, food and location.

A Solid 2.5 at 5 Star Prices
The rooms are lovely and members of the staff (though disorganized) are very friendly and try hard. As mentioned in a number of other reviews, the advertised services and activities were either non-existent or unavailable. The food was fine, but certainly not worth returning for, had it been a local restaurant. Lunch was better than dinner.* Wines were a miss. Music at dinner was too loud to be able to have a conversation during, even at a table for two. There are less expensive places with pretty rooms to read a book. ________________________ Important note for those with food allergies/sensitivities: In conversations directly with the resort, the staff assured us that food allergies are “no problem". What that meant was that we would be handed a menu which identified major allergens (specifically dairy, gluten, nuts). In four nights every option listed had both the dairy and gluten symbols next to them. Many options had all three. Twice we had to explain to the waitstaff that the meal she was arguing would be fine, was not. I was presented with the same singular option for dinner every night and it was just this side of inedible. It didn’t have to be that way, and it isn’t at most restaurants with a good chef. After the third night we gave up and stopped going to dinner. I got very sick once, which needlessly blew a couple of days of our vacation. That’s always unacceptable, but certainly at this price point. ___________________ *Note: Review by the half of the couple without food sensitivities, who could eat all of the food as prepared.

Amazing Easter weekend!
We had an amazing experience with my father on Easter weekend. We stayed 4 nights in the bungalow just a few feet from the cleanest water i have ever seen. The resort is extremely private ,very quiet and luxurious. The food the drinks, service is exceptional. Our butler,Clay couldn't do more for us. Within minutes he was there when we needed him. The rest of the stuff like cleaning crew, bartenders, waiters were very friendly and they made the whole experience amazing. I highly recommend this resort to everyone with kids or without children.

Peaceful, relaxing and luxurious
Just returned from four days here with my girlfriend and we can't wait to go back. The island and the resort are more beautiful than the pictures on their website, very well laid out, and the facilities look virtually brand new and are impeccably maintained. Don't come here if you like bustle, noise, crowds, or "a scene". It's so quiet, relaxing and stress free ... According to the staff, the resort was "almost full occupancy" while we were there, but we never would've known it. All 17 bungalows are spaced out along a beautiful turquoise water beach, and each bungalow has two chaise lounges on the patio next to its plunge pool, two chaises on the beach and a hammock. We spent 4-5 hours lounging and swimming each day on "our beach" and never saw more than 2 or 3 couples on any day. Most times we were all alone on a private beach. We did meet many lovely people while sitting at the bar before dinner, on the Hangover Bar excursion and while meandering around the island on our golf cart. But there is no stress over getting beach / pool chairs, dining reservations or a treadmill at the gym. The gym has glass walls with the most incredible view over the Atlantic side of the island, and we had it to ourselves 2 out of 3 times we were in there. It's a nice sized space with enough machines, dumbbells, kettlebells and floor space to get in a good workout, and the view makes it a pleasure to use. The food is the best I've ever had in the Caribbean, especially lunches in the Clubhouse - the salads and ceviches are particularly great, and so were the fish tacos. Dinner was good, but not quite as well prepared as lunch, which was a bit of a mystery. But lots to choose from, with very fresh fish and produce. All the ingredients were top notch. We like to eat healthy / clean foods and were very pleased with the selection and execution. Definitely try the Hangover Bar excursion, and the massages are in bungalows perched above the water which is a terrific experience. We had a pickleball lesson that was fun and the tennis courts are very nice. Rooms / bathrooms are gorgeous and also very new. Tough decision whether to shower outside or the two person shower inside ! We never used the TV, but loved the remote control window shades - one touch in the morning and you wake up to a beach view. The staff is also exceptional - everyone we interacted with was truly eager to make sure we were having a great time. We ordered poorly a couple times in the restaurant and it was rectified without hesitation. The staff is all very engaged and engaging, as well as efficient and professional. Great hiring/ training and we learned that the employees were treated very well by management and therefore have a great attitude towards the guests. Shout outs to our "butler" Clay who made sure our entire visit went smoothly and was always on call when we needed him, and the lovely concierge Antonia who helped us plan our trip, The bartenders Bobby and Marvin are top notch, and we had so many great servers Miguel, Francine, Diane, Frantz, plus many others I couldn't keep the names straight. Logistics - Wifi was very good, and we had good cell service there as well (Verizon roaming). In terms of door to door trip - we had a 9:00am flight from JFK and were on the ground at the resort by 2:30pm and changing into our bathing suits at 2:45. The Turks airport is pretty small and easy to get through - don't waste $300 on the FastPass unless you're coming on the Saturday of a holiday weekend.

Fantastic resort but terrible beach.
The resort is beautiful and private. We were there for 10 nights. We would only see a few people on the beach every day. The rooms are fantastic. The food is great, the menu changes every day for dinner. The service is exceptional. We loved driving around the island exploring in our golf cart. Our butler, James, was the best. He took care of everything for us. The only negative was the water. We are beach and water people. The view from the beach cottages is exceptional. The beach is not soft sand, it is a combination of sand, rock, and broken sea shells. When you walk the beach you constantly have to look where you are stepping. The beach/water outside of the beach cottages it is not usable. It is so shallow and mucky. When you walk in it you sink into the muck. It was the only thing that was very dissapointing.
