  Wonderful service - if Emily’s working you’re in luck!

  We had such a relaxing time and received amazing service from Emily at the pool throughout our stay! In addition to excellent service, she gave wonderful, personalized recommendations for things for us to do/see/eat while on the island and made us feel so pampered. We can’t wait to come back!

  Central, clean and excellent service

  Excellent hotel and great service throughout. One elevator was out for the duration of our stay which was an inconvenience. It’s also noisy at night but its location location. Right in the heart of Waikiki - cannot wait to return. Right across from the family beach, great access to gift and convenience store, excellent coffee at Kai coffee (all on property). The aquarium was excellent and the food at swell bar was exceptional. Excellent live music at sunset. Gym was excellent. Staff service great.

  Crappy Hawaii accommodations

  The hotel king room is poor felt like I was staying at motel 6 old stained carpet, popcorn on ceiling and low ceiling old motel 6 shower and tub combination, I’m 6’2 sat down on toilet didn’t realize how close to the floor it was stale room smell just like motel 6 , staff always look mad like they didn’t want to be at work , some language problems, had to go buy plug in air fresher , called for a upgrade nothing available, the Asian guy in the longboat longe restaurant treated my wife and I like crap never came to our table so we watched 5 other couples come in waited on forgot his name he was the only one that wore a Covid black mask complained no one did anything was there at request of bride of wedding attendance old scratched up surfaces , didn’t feel comfortable to lounge in room plaster everywhere to patch room amenities the stale smell “ OLD ‘ balcony slide door getting stuck on track and had the nerve to 260 dollars for resort fees , I called around to regency, Hilton , garden Hilton , Sheraton a much better hotel more modern , no one had rooms to get out of there crappy experience, staff totally ignored us I would’ve had better accommodation sleeping on the beach across the street . Never again

  The seaside rooms were nice and clean, with great views in our king bed, diamond-head, ocean view room. The staff were nice. Parking is expensive if getting a rental car, which one isn't needed. The pool was great!

  Disappointing 11-Night Stay: Five-Star Prices, Three-Star Experience

  Unfortunately, our 11-night stay at Alohilani Resort Waikiki was very disappointing. In my opinion, the hotel does not offer a true five-star experience; based on the quality of the rooms, housekeeping, facilities, and service, it felt much closer to a three-star property. The location is excellent and our room was spacious, but those were among the few positives. The biggest issue was cleanliness. We found the room covered in dust when we arrived, and despite raising the issue twice, the situation barely improved throughout our 11-day stay. Housekeeping mostly replaced towels rather than properly cleaning the room. Even basic items such as tissues were not consistently replenished. The room itself also showed significant wear. The minibar cabinet door was broken and hanging off, as was the toilet paper holder. The minibar was completely empty, and basic amenities one would normally expect from a five-star hotel — bathrobes, slippers, cotton swabs, and other useful bathroom items — were missing. Soundproofing was virtually nonexistent. We could clearly hear street noise, guests in neighboring rooms, and activity in the hallway. Even worse, housekeeping and maintenance staff regularly began making significant noise around 8 a.m., moving or dropping vacuum cleaners and carrying out work in nearby rooms. During an 11-night stay, we were unable to properly rest in the mornings. The pool area was another disappointment. The pool is relatively small and largely shaded, with very few standard loungers compared with the enormous number of guests staying at the hotel. The attractive daybeds featured prominently in online photos are not simply part of the pool experience — they cost around $300 per day. The included breakfast was equally underwhelming. It essentially consisted of a voucher for one fountain drink and one basic dish, with limited options that were repetitive and bland. Service was far below what I would expect at this price point. At check-in, reception gave us virtually no explanation about the hotel, its facilities, or what was included in our stay. We discovered things ourselves along the way — or simply never discovered them. There was no bell service to assist us with luggage at either check-in or check-out. Unfortunately, we also found the overall attitude of staff, from reception to housekeeping and the restaurant, consistently unfriendly. Another major issue was the strong smell of humidity throughout both the corridors and the room. Everything in the room constantly felt damp, and the bathroom ventilation seemed unable to cope with the moisture. One positive is that the hotel offers guest laundry facilities, although the prices are exceptionally high. We also paid for a room advertised as having a beach view. In theory, perhaps. In reality, we could only see the beach by stepping onto the balcony and positioning ourselves in one particular corner. The actual experience did not reflect the impression created by the photos online. Finally, considering the already high room rates, charging $50 per hour for late checkout only added to the feeling that almost everything comes at an additional premium. And surprise - there is a “resort fee” of 52$/ day!! A five-star hotel is not defined by its location or stylish marketing photos, but by attention to detail, cleanliness, service, comfort, and consistency. Unfortunately, Alohilani fell short in almost every one of these areas during our 11-night stay. The location is excellent, but the overall experience simply does not justify the price or the five-star positioning.
