Poor Option

The resort had obviously suffered hurricane damage which was as advertised. Not all amenities were available. Rooms, however are in need of updating or at least fresh paint. Tile grout is very dirty. Walls and ceiling were stained. Showers are very small and very outdated. The staff generally were very slow and not very professional or friendly at times. This is the most we have ever spent on an all inclusive and the poorest experience. Not recommended.

Great View

Overall, the resort served the purpose for a short get away vacation from the office. Quiet beaches, great food from the on site restaurant and great service all around. The hotel staff were polite and friendly. The USVI suffered a lot of damage from the back to back hurricanes two years ago and some damages were still visible on the island. We stayed on resort property most of the time and just enjoyed the much needed rest and relaxation. The view from our room was fantastic.

Relaxing and Personal

I will admit that - when we first drove up - it made us all a little nervous. It was smaller than we expected and the drive-up doesn't have much appeal. However, the staff greets you with smiles and love and hand you a drink that - when combined - communicates it's time to relax and leave your worries at the door. It’s a Caribbean resort on the beach. It’s not the Ritz or Four Seasons. But it’s great as long as that isn’t the bar you're trying to reach. You certainly aren't paying for that. The rooms are clean, the bed is good, the pillows are nice and we can walk out of the back door onto the beach (we paid extra for a first floor room). We chose the all-inclusive option. The food is good and included. The restaurant has a wide variety and they allow you more food than you can eat in one sitting. The drinks are great and included. And they aren’t watered down. And the "included brands" of liquor are really solid too. Tito’s vodka is included, for example. The beach itself is not really a big beach, but having a small beach just to the hotel is nice. The hotel is in a cove, which is pretty, but don't expect a big open view of the ocean. It's a cove-view of the ocean. BUT THE STAFF. I can not speak more highly of the staff. They will help you have the experience you want, whatever that is. On the days we wanted to relax, we relaxed and they served us with abundant love, care, friendliness and focus. On the days we wanted to do an activity (take a tour of the island, go SCUBA diving, visit other beaches, visit other islands) - they arranged everything for us. The communication was clear and consistent and perfection. We were a little nervous when we drove up and got our bags out of the taxi. And then, about five minutes later, that melted away and we knew we were in good hands. And we were right.

Great place to stay

I really loved staying here. We had a chance to explore the island. This hotel doesn't have a lot of curb appeal but don't let that fool you. The beach area and activities are perfect and the food at iggies was very delicious. They are very generous with their all inclusive plan! I loved the fish tacos!!! We visited some beaches and Magen's Bay was our favorite!! Coki beach was way too crowded for our taste! We talked to the lady that ran the gift shop and she was amazing!! She was so helpful in setting up our adventures. She made it so easy and made some calls to set things up for us. The staff was very accommodating and friendly! Swimming with the dolphins was my favorite activity. Totally worth the money and a memorable experience at the park! We were able to see some of the other hotels that may be a bit nicer inside but the beach on them were full of seaweed. I had zero regrets about booking Bolongo!! I'll definately come back to them!! Great beach area and very relaxing!!

What's to Love

I love being just steps away from the beach, plus the resort is very family friendly and it's not too big. It was perfect getting to know the staff well and other guests!

What We'd Change

You'll need to take a cab to check out other restaurants, but when the food is so great at the resort, why bother?

Why You Should Go

Bolongo Bay Beach Resort All Inclusive

7150 Bolongo

Hotel Description

When Bolongo Bay begins accepting guests this June, it will be a soft re-opening. During this time, The Oasis Restaurant and Bar will be open, poolside, along with the swim up bar as well. Iggies Beach Bar & Grill is currently being renovated and will be open later this year. During this time, there is a small area around the structure on the beach that is cordoned off as work is being done. As a major hurricane affected the island a few months ago, there is still some work being done, but the hotel is making strides to come back better than ever.

Bolongo Bay Beach Resort: Discover A Hidden Caribbean Treasure

Going on vacation is all about having fun. So lose yourself in the Caribbean vibe at Bolongo Bay Beach Resort. Family owned and operated since 1974 by the Doumengs, the resort's small, friendly atmosphere offers a vacation that seems like home. We're not the only ones who think the Doumengs are doing it right. Richard Doumeng, Managing Director, was recently awarded the "Golden Conch" Caribbean Hotelier of the Year Award by the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association. Get lost in the all-inclusive paradise at Bolongo Bay.

Located on a 1,000-ft stretch of white sand, Bolongo Bay Beach Resort redefines the word "beachfront." Kick back on a lounge chair and watch the kids swim, or check out the freshwater pool for rum punch at the swim-up bar. After you've worked up an appetite, two open-air restaurants draw you in: lobster specialties are a hit at The Oasis, and we hear conch fritters at Iggies Beach Bar and Grill are delish. Wednesday nights, Iggies hosts the wild Carnival Extravaganza, with steel-pan tunes and a limbo show, or you catch a cab to Charlotte Amalie for more action.

Whether you're hanging out at the beach or seeing the sights, there are tons of things to do during the day. Start a game of beach volleyball, or challenge the kids to paddleboat races. Try parasailing, or book a snorkel or scuba excursion to see the underwater world. Day trips to nearby St. John, St. Croix and the British Virgin Islands are popular, but St. Thomas also has great appeal. Paradise Point has unforgettable views. The shoreline is beautiful from Magens Bay. And kids love feeding stingrays at Coral World.

Book an appointment with the massage therapist after a long day to unwind. Since Bolongo Bay is smaller and intimate, all 64 rooms are beachfront, so you can kick back and enjoy the Caribbean from the privacy of your balcony. Families don't have to navigate any pesky stairs with young children in the Beachfront Room, and if you're traveling on a budget, the Value Room is just right.
