Palms 10 TCI Escapes 0

The Palms was a bit pricey but the service and facility was great! The only problem we had on the trip was with the ground transportation (TCI Escapes) that we booked through cheap Caribbean. They never showed to take us to the airport at the end of vacation — even though pick was confirmed by phone the prior day. Calling their number on the day of the pick-up only resulted in transfer to a voice mail that was full. All in all Palms is a 10 and TCI Escapes is a zero. :-)

Overall a great vacation

The construction crew was load some mornings. The cost was overpriced for the stay. Everything was overpriced. In my opinion the food was not that great. Overall nice vacation. I would not return based on the cost only. Otherwise everything was good and the service received by the entire staff members was above and beyond.

Doesn't Meet Expectations

My wife and I went to the Palms for our Honeymoon with high expectations. The pictures looked nice and the reviews sounded very positive. It was rated as a five star. I am disappointed to say that it fell well short of this. We enjoyed ourselves, but did not feel like this place was worth what we were paying for. The value at the Palms is poor. Aside from a complementary breakfast, this place is designed to try to suck every penny out of you. This is disappointing when you are on your honeymoon and you are already spending a lot of money just to be there. For example, my wife wanted a diet coke one night and called for room service. Ten minutes later we get a 12 ounce can of diet coke along with a bill for fourteen dollars. Drinks at the pool are around $15 per drink. The restaurants on site are particularly expensive and do not give you a lot of food. The quality is OK but not for what you are paying for. Also, there is a 15% service charge automatically added to all purchases there. In addition to the service charge, they ask for a tip. This is deceiving and not at all customary in the US where most of their clients are from. Try to eat off the resort as much as you can. There are better and more cost effective options. Due to the high price of drinks at the resort, I suggest trying to buy alcohol at a grocery store and bring it back. Cabs are very expensive on the island. I used one of the hotel bikes to go to the grocery store. While I was successful, these bikes are very old and not what you would expect to see at a high end resort. Someone could get very hurt riding one of these bikes. We had the displeasure of staying at the Palms when Edward Jones had their annual employee summer vacations. Try not to book when Edward Jones is there. It was so much quieter when the one day they were not there. There are a lot of inconsiderate kids with the Edward Jones group. What is most unfortunate about the Edward Jones group is that since they are a loyal client of the Palms, the Palms uses much of their resources to make sure Edward Jones families are enjoying themselves. This takes away from other guests. The Palms closes off certain areas and doesn't have as much staff available to make sure other guests are satisfied. When the resort is packed, it can be difficult to get a seat at the pool at times. We experience difficulty one day and a pool employee cleared off two seats for us that had not been used in over an hour. The policy is that if you do not use your pool seats for an hour, they can be given to another guest. So once we were given these seats, the people who had their stuff removed from the seats came over and acted angry to us. This was completely unnecessary and not something we wanted to deal with. Overall, there is no way this place is a five star resort. The service is mediocre and the cleanliness is not great. If you are looking for top notch, this is not your place. It is still nice and enjoyable, but temper your expectations a bit. I think you can find much better value elsewhere on this island.

Hotel Description

The Palms Turks & Caicos: Upscale Ambiance, Luxury Rooms and a Top Spa

An upscale, luxury resort that maintains a family-friendly atmosphere is what The Palms Turks & Caicos is all about. The Palms features 72 suites with ocean views from nearly every balcony or terrace. Couples and families love the sleek decor, marble floors, vaulted ceilings with crown moldings, wainscoting and custom-made mahogany furniture.

The posh hotel is on 12 beachfront acres of lush gardens on world-famous Grace Bay Beach. Abundant marine life is right offshore in the aquamarine waters of Grace Bay Beach. Calm, clear water lets kids float freely while you kick back on loungers with umbrellas. Swim up to Plunge for a frosty rum punch and a creamy chicken wrap at the stunning serpentine, infinity-edge pool. Decked out with cushioned loungers and fun, circular sun pods, the pool area is a choice location for catching the gorgeous sunsets. Head to Parallel 23 for fresh crab rolls and Moulard duck to die for.

The Palms has options for vacationing at any speed you choose: snorkel and scuba excursions take advantage of the translucent water, kids love staging kayak races and Hobie cats are a fun way to soak up the sun. Want to check out the nearby 18-hole Provo Golf Club guilt-free? You have unlimited use of the Conch Kritters Club to keep the little ones busy playing lawn croquet and crafting art projects while mom and dad tee off. And if you want more family time, why not challenge the younger set to a tennis match on the courts?

Have an hour or two before it's time to pick up the kids? The full-service, 25,000-sq-ft Spa is frequently named one of the Caribbean's best and it has the awards to prove it. Signature treatments use indigenous ingredients for full-body pampering. The signature Zareeba treatment uses local herbs to cleanse and detoxify.

When only the best will do, we recommend the 1,500-sq-ft One Bedroom Suite Oceanview with fully equipped kitchen, Viking appliances, custom bed linens and all the high-end perks you could want! On Penthouse suite booking, you even get butler service. Whether or not you book that room, you will get complimentary amenities like full American breakfast, free long distance calls to teh USA and Canada, and use of resort bicycles and the business center.
