What We Love

  • We loved the rainforest setting of this resort. The hotel was built on former colonial sugar plantation, so the scenic views are breathtaking.

    Top Notch Service

Top rated service! Otis Mitchell is one of the best attendants ever. He is always one step ahead, honest, and dedicated to patrons with the best service. Sugar Beach offers many activities, fantastic restaurant options, and private beach access. Wonderful for relaxation.

Nice beach and resort but expensive

Overall good experience Pros: 1. White sand beach ( imported sand) is probably the nicest on the island 2. Swimming and water sports off the beach is excellent including good snorkeling in calm clear water 3. We were in a two bedroom view villa which was nice overall 4. Travel to the resort from airport is shorter than to resorts in the north of the island 5. Proximity to Pitons and Tet Paul trail Cons 1. Expensive 2.restaurants in the resort are pricey and you are mostly forced to eat there. Get a rental car if you want to explore restaurants outside without exorbitant taxi charges 3. Taxi service to outside restaurants/ attractions arranged by your butler is expensive $60 to go to the nearly Ladera resort restaurant( prob less than 2 miles away). A rental car may be a good idea if you don’t mind driving on the left side of the road and dealing with some rough roads 4. Billing system at restaurants etc can be sloppy and prone to errors - we were wrongly charged $600 for food and drink we did not buy at one of the restaurants - it turned out to be a charge our neighbor made. So check your bill carefully before you check out. Our butler should have picked this up but she did not

So this is what heaven on earth feels like...

Where do I start? We were lucky enough to experience Sugar Beach for several nights, and to be able to try two different residential options. From the moment we were met at the airport, we knew there was something special about Sugar Beach. It truly is a tropical paradise - where your every need can be met, a spectacular setting between the Pitons, fine food and wine, stunning rooms with so many thoughtful details which ensured that our stay was wonderful. The sports facilities are world-class, from peloton to yoga to weights, with tennis and padel available too and expertise to support you in-house. The rooms were spotless, and the whole team seemed to be always aware of detailing. Walking through the resort in the early mornings, I noticed team members paying attention to their surroundings and quietly going about their daily actions picking up on things that needed to be handled. The gardens team deliver such a beautiful array of flowers throughout and the lighting is well considered and feels in keeping with the style of Sugar Beach. I had to work a little whilst there and have to say I have never worked in such stunning surroundings! Both front and back of house teams made me feel very welcome during our stay and it was refreshing to realise how much the staff team is looked after as if they were part of a large family. The modern art throughout the resort was truly the icing on a very special cake!

    Perfect getaway for couples!

So, we know the beach is technically a public beach, however, my understanding is that the white sunbeds are for Sugar Beach resort guests only. This was usually enforced by resort security. However, there was one day where a group of 5-6 visitors (who were not Sugar Beach resort guests) were able to make a deal with the security and beach manager where, if the visitors paid $100, they could “rent” the sunbeds for the day. This was according to the beach manager when I asked. After spending over $1000/night to stay at this resort, this did not seem fair. This was the sole reason I could not give this place 5 stars. Besides that, the resort was truly lovely. It’s about a 45-50 minute drive from the airport, but it’s worth it. The resort is in a great location, right in between the Pitons. The grounds were beautiful, the villas were clean and spacious, and the service everywhere was impeccable. The entire staff was so friendly. Our butlers, Michael and Gary, especially, were so attentive and helpful. The restaurants were fantastic, too! My favorite had to be Saltwood. My husband and I also treated ourselves to a couples massage at the Spa. Money well spent! The therapists were amazing, and the Spa itself was enchanting. The resort was semi-busy during our stay, but it felt so peaceful. My husband and I were here for our honeymoon. I noticed that the guests were mostly couples with no children. Overall, we had an amazing stay at Sugar Beach. Worth the spend, however, it appears that you may be able to stay at a cheaper resort and only pay $100 a day for Sugar Beach sunbeds if the beach is all you’re looking for!

    Like coming home again

Our 3rd trip back to Sugar Beach was like coming back home again. It was wonderful to see all the same staff who treat us with so much respect, are completely engaged in their activity, and have a can-do attitude to assure we are completely relaxed and have everything we need. The setting, the food, the beach, the coral and fish, and our cottage were absolutely beautiful. Even meeting other guests at the many resort social opportunities just added to our wonderful week. It truly doesn't matter if you are on your honeymoon, family vacation, adult reunion, or 50th anniversary there is fun, activities and relaxation for all. We are booking our 4th visit back to Sugar Beach now.
