A brilliant honeymoon!
We are just back from our 2 week honeymoon. We loved it and appreciated all the hard work of the staff so felt like we should review! Pros 1. Preferred club - lounge is great and has best AC of the whole place. We often got lunch at the barefoot grill and took it to the lounge to enjoy time out the sun and in the cold. 2. The preferred pool - always seats available, bali beds were great too. A nice, chilled atmosphere for most of it (until a large wedding party arrived and were shouting across the pool at each other!) A big shoutout to Carlos, he was a brilliant bartender and we enjoyed our chats with him. 3. The restaurants - we tried them all and found them absolutely delicious with wonderful waiters. Portofino was our fave (tomato soup, beef fillet and the arrabiata were amazing!) Also a shoutout to Daniel who was so kind and helpful when I asked for no black olives in my pasta. We also tried the buffet and enjoyed how much it was changed up. 4. We loved the security of the hotel which may sound daft but we felt very secure and looked after. We unfortunately had to call one night because we were woken up by a party next door at 3am and the staff were so so helpful. 5. The atmosphere - everyone was having fun, everyone was friendly and would say hello. 6. Housekeeping- our room was spotless and when they found out it was our honeymoon they put a sign on the door! 7. We did coco bongos, a trip to playa del carmen, xplor and an afternoon in puerto morelos so lots to do! We do have a few things that could make this great resort even better… 1. The lights in our room didn’t all work and maintenance couldn’t seem to fix them so with a jungle view room the room was very dark. We survived but w brighter room would have been nicer. 2. The front desk told us we are better getting a taxi from them and quoted us triple an uber and said it’s a roundtrip, so much better, uber prices go up etc… Just get the uber. We were $10 there and back to Puerto Morelos in an uber - so much cheaper!! 3. We found the entertainment a bit cheesy for us but we don’t have kids so we weren’t too bothered. 4. Four nights we were there the buffet was brought out to the lobby and you are seated a huge round tables with people you don’t know - our idea of hell tbh! We actually got up and left and felt that there was no need for this to be a thing at the hotel. Especially with the mexican show, that would be better on the stage so everyone could see it. 5. The scheduled entertainment during the day didn’t seem to allows appear at the preferred pool which was a let down some days as we really enjoyed the darts and bracelet making when it did come! 6. Only staff we found that let the hotel down were the preferred club stuff in the lounge. One man was wearing a face mask which made me nervous as I had read on the Facebook page about some people being unwell and the lady serving behind the bar was lying head down on it whilst people were around. 7. Seaweed smell was bad when you walked out your room at first but you got used to it throughout the day - not as bad at the preferred pool. Overall we enjoyed our time and would definitely visit again. Thank you so much!!

Falls short
We stayed at this resort and paid for an upgrade to the Preferred Club at check-in. The upgrade was worth it in terms of the room—we had a beautiful ocean view and a jacuzzi on the balcony. The room was spotless, and the bed was extremely comfortable, making it a relaxing space to return to each day. Unfortunately, the TV in our room never worked properly. We reported the issue to the front desk four times. Although they did replace the TV once, the problem turned out to be with the signal, which was never resolved. The food was where the experience really fell short. The buffet offerings were mediocre at best. Breakfast was okay, but other meals were disappointing. During the Mexican night, the food didn’t feel authentic, and long lines meant by the time you got to your table, the food was already cold. BBQ night was worse—the meat was tough and hard to chew, the ribs were overly chewy, and the Argentine sausage was undercooked. At the pool snack bar, we tried the burgers but couldn’t even finish them—they were questionable in both taste and texture. On a more positive note, the à la carte restaurants served delicious meals, but we were surprised by the lack of seafood options, especially given the resort's location. Overall, we enjoyed our upgraded room and the beautiful views, but the food experience was a major letdown. With some improvements to the dining and maintenance services, this resort could offer a much better guest experience. Special thanks to the servers and bartenders at the adults only pool and the entertaintment crew. As for the beach — this was a major letdown. While we understand that sargassum is a common issue in the region, the lack of effort to clean it up was shocking. It looked like the beach hadn’t been maintained in days, maybe even weeks. We saw just one machine briefly moving the seaweed around for about 20 minutes, but it didn’t actually remove anything. In contrast, we’ve seen other resorts with staff using shovels to clear it manually. Here, the sargassum had piled up and dried at the shoreline, with standing water forming and causing a strong, unpleasant odor. When we asked a taxi driver about it, he mentioned that since this hotel doesn’t receive government assistance for cleanup, they don’t bother — but for a resort that charges premium rates, this lack of care was surprising and disappointing. Overall, while we enjoyed the upgraded room and the view, the food and beach conditions were far below expectations. This could be a truly great resort with some investment in maintenance, cleanliness, and culinary improvements, but for now, it falls short in several important areas.

Don’t waste your money
Disappointing Experience at Dreams Sapphire – Not Worth the Price, wish we stayed somewhere else I stayed at Dreams Sapphire from July 7–12, 2025, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this resort based on the numerous issues experienced throughout my stay. While the property appears beautiful at first glance, the execution, service consistency, and attention to guest experience were severely lacking. Transportation & Check-In: Upon arrival, Amstar transportation had no record of my booking and kept asking for a confirmation number, even though the hotel had assured us none was needed. This created confusion and set a stressful tone from the beginning. Food & Amenities: There is no food available between 5–6pm—an inconvenient gap for anyone arriving mid-day or with kids. Room service took over 5 minutes to even answer our call, and tray collection requests made through the app went ignored for days while raccoons scavenging leftovers. Steak was burnt to a char at Bordeaux. The gym was entirely non-functional, with all cardio equipment out of order. The ATM was also out of service, showing a “maintenance this week” message. In the coffee shop, the cappuccino machine was broken. We also encountered a lack of washcloths and replenished in-room snacks, even after multiple days and requests. Our TV stopped working on day 4. Cleanliness & Safety: Uncollected glasses of alcohol were left on surfaces around the pool area for days, and housekeeping once left our door ajar, leaving our belongings vulnerable. The rug in our room was curled up, posing a clear trip hazard. Adults-Only Indigo Section: This section is marketed as adults-only, but we constantly encountered children running in the halls at night and in the morning, and there seemed to be no enforcement keeping other guests out. The poolside cabanas lacked shade because “the shades were in laundry,” for the whole week they were in laundry? And the concierge refused to take the shade from another unused cabana to help us. and there was no drink service until noon on July 9th. Wedding Event Failures: This trip was for a wedding, and it was heartbreaking to see how poorly the resort handled it: • Bride’s name was misspelled—twice (on the seating chart and reception entrance). • Elevators in the Indigo building failed the day of the wedding, forcing the wedding party and all guests even very elderly to climb five stories. Wheelchaired guests were out of the question, and joined later and missed the ceremony. • The flower arch was still being assembled at 4PM, after the wedding was scheduled to begin. • The golf cart meant to take the bride to the ceremony arrived 20 minutes late after we called three times. Persistent Sales Pressure: Despite all the above, we were repeatedly approached by staff to attend timeshare presentations, even when we politely declined. ⸻ Highlight: Abraham at the Indigo Pool Despite these issues, I want to commend Abraham, who worked at the Indigo pool. His attentiveness, professionalism, and warm hospitality were standout moments in an otherwise frustrating stay. If more staff operated with his level of care and dedication, the entire resort experience could be vastly improved. ⸻ I hope management takes this feedback seriously. A resort of this caliber should not be cutting corners in so many basic areas of service.

Fam Summer Holiday 2025
The hotel is lovely and the food very good. The staff are what makes this place, always attentive, helpful and ready to smile. Our waiter Ivan could not do enough for us and helped to make the experience a memorable one. It was a shame about the seaweed which made the beach impossible to sit on brood the smell and it was so thick you couldn’t go in the sea. The knock on effect was that it made the pool very busy but it didn’t detract from our holiday too much.
