Riu Vallarta
The Staff is AMAZING at this resort. Special thanks to: Mimi, Christopher, Frida, Abe and the entire buffet staff! My only suggestions would be: Separate shampoo & body wash; electronic wristbands or phone access that handles room and towel access instead of carrying multiple cards

Very disappointing experience
The facility itself is nice. The rooms are decent, and the beach is absolutely beautiful—easily the highlight of the property. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives mostly end. When we checked in, the TV in our room didn’t work, and to make matters worse, there was a turd left in the toilet to greet us when we walked in. Not exactly the welcome you expect from a RIU resort. Midway through our stay, we had a very strange and frustrating experience at the pool. While we were in the pool, staff took our towels from our chairs. Later, we were told we would be charged for a “lost towel key,” even though they took our room number when we originally checked out the towels. The entire situation felt shady—staff can apparently grab towels and then attempt to charge guests for them, which is very strange and honestly felt possibly corrupt. The food was very disappointing. The specialty restaurants are extremely limited, only open at night, and not all of them are available every evening. During the day, the only option is a bar serving hot dogs and hamburgers—and they were honestly nasty. There is also zero room service, which is not what I’m used to at any all-inclusive resort. One of the most concerning moments was when I accidentally broke a plate in the lobby and ended up bleeding all over the floor. No one helped. The staff just stood there staring while I was bleeding, which was shocking and uncomfortable. The front desk staff were the worst part of the experience. They are argumentative, dismissive, and seem to disregard guests entirely. Customer service is clearly not a priority here. I’ve stayed at many all-inclusive resorts all over the world and have visited several RIU properties that were excellent. Unfortunately, this stay at Riu Vallarta was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had, and it fell far short of what I expect from the RIU brand.

Great facility, consider 2 rooms when travelling with teenage kids
The facility itself was excellent, and the restaurant and bar staff consistently delivered friendly, attentive service. Overall, we enjoyed our stay; however, several areas fell short of expectations. While the resort amenities were strong, the front‑desk experience was noticeably less welcoming, and our room did not match the description or value for the price—two full beds and a very unclean pullout couch made the space uncomfortably tight for a family of four. Although the entertainment and food were generally good, one evening show was inappropriate for a family audience, and the buffet often outperformed the specialty restaurants, including the Christmas and New Year’s dinners. Water activities were limited, frequently leaving guests waiting. We also found it inconvenient that tipping significantly influenced service at what is marketed as an all‑inclusive resort. Finally, guests in ocean‑facing rooms should be aware of late‑night noise lasting until 11 p.m.
