You get what you pay for

I guess you get what you pay for... Specifically the meals were just OK, even in the ala carte restaurants. They overcooked fish and steak every time, a perfectly good rib-eye was smothered in brown gravy. Who does that? A stuffed crab dish was so dry it was not edible. The best feature in the Mexican restaurant was the lady that made guacamole tableside, it was delicious! The hotel staff were very gracious, happy and genuinely interested in making your stay the best. The buffet was decent, plenty of choices for everyone. We did not try the Asian or Mediterranean restaurants based on feedback we received from other guests. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, however the buildings themselves are in serious disrepair. It rained a few times while we were there, we were seriously concerned about the ceiling near our room in the hallway. There was such a bad leak that mold was visible and water dripping everywhere. There was a large crack running the entire length of the plaster wall in our room. Visible chips and decay in the stucco throughout the facility. Everything needed a fresh coat of paint. Lounge chairs at the pool and beach have seen better days. One evening we had no running water when we went to take a shower. There was a day at the adult "quiet" pool that it got so loud security had to come. We left and went to the beach. Some of the music is rap with very inappropriate lyrics if anyone pays attention. I was shocked when I did. Lastly, the resort was occupied largely by locals, tourists made up a very small percentage of the guests. This was not mentioned in any of the reviews I read. It made us uncomfortable because they stared at us as if they had never seen a black man and a white woman before. Maybe it is a cultural thing but it was very rude and it never stopped no matter how many times they saw us. This was not the responsibility of the resort, I am simply describing the culture and atmosphere we experienced while staying there. We will not return to PV.

Great Resort with tons of amenities

The resort was beautiful and the amenities were plentiful. First we will start with the good. The rooms are super spacious, we loved the spa jet tub, excellent view, Priya our breakfast server was outstanding, the infinity pool and bars were great. We had free WiFi on the entire resort the whole time. That's a major plus. Oh and the beach was amazing. Warm water, soft sand and very little seaweed. The service is amazing and everyone very friendly. Also top notch security which we greatly appreciated. Now for the bad. We had cab drivers from the resort on numerous occasions try to take advantage and overcharge us. There are tons and tons and tons of steps so be careful with the unlimited drinks. This is definitely not an ADA friendly resort. The food was not appetizing at all except for the Mexican restaurant. We didn't get to try the steakhouse because it was closed. Only other complaint is that there should be a daily listing of all the activities on the TV or something we had no clue what was going on most times until it was too late. Overall we probably wouldn't stay again unless the food improved. Great experience and great resort, just not what we were looking for. It was kind of far from the airport (40 minutes) but we wouldn't minded if we could have enjoyed quality food on the resort and not so many steps. It was like 3 flights of steps to get to every part of the resort.

Relaxing all inclusive

There were multiple options for swimming- family pool, ocean, salt water ocean pool, kiddie pool, adult pool. The salt water ocean pool is amazing, the pictures don't capture how great it is! The pools were open late and they had late night activities, including a disco that was open til 2 am. Snacks were available between meals, but not right at poolside. Food was good and there were 5 different types of restaurants to choose from for dinner. We stayed at the resort the whole week, and had plenty to do using the free paddle boards, kayaks and boogie boards. Plan to go back next year

Great hotel and excellent service.

This hotel is very beautiful! But something that I wish other reviews would have mentioned is the amount of stairs this place has but that isn't a very big deal and if your someone who has issues with their knees I recommend asking for a room on the first floor since there are no elevators. The staff is very friendly and approachable. I ordered room service once and the food didn't take too long and they called 5 min after the food was delivered to make sure they had sent everything correctly which was very nice. The restaurants were great we went to all of them and had no complaints with the food or staff. The buffet has an excellent selection as well and what surprised me is that they actually had authentic Mexican food unlike other hotels I have stayed at. This was a family vacation for 9 of us and the one thing I wish they could have done a little better was to sit us all together for dinner. They do not take reservations so it is first come first serve and for it being such a big group I wish they would have made more of an effort to push tables together for us all to sit instead of splitting us into two tables. The rooms were great, from what I noticed even if you didn't have a beach view all rooms had a nice view. The beds however were not the greatest in my opinion but everything else in the room was excellent! I would definitely consider coming back here.

What's to Love

Golden beaches, lush vegetation & gardens surrounding the resort that are impressive.

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

Working on your tan lines at one of the resorts three pools - the infinity pools views are aah-mazing.

A kid-friendly resort with clubs for all ages, waterparks and a "Raggs" show, starring five musical pups.

Grabbing a frosty margarita at Viva Mexico and watching the sun set into the Pacific.

Beachy and land activities - like volleyball, tennis, catamarans, snorkeling and more.

What We'd Change

At 45 minutes to the Puerto Vallarta airport, the resort is definitely a bit of a drive, but quiet seclusion is one of the highlights.

Why You Should Go

You must take in the scenery as you venture to the resort - it's about 45 minutes to paradise.

Beachtown Sayulita is only 30 minutes and highly recommended - fun little shops and surfing.

Spending "you time" at Zentropia Spa, but if you want to dip into the spa pools, it will be an extra cost.

Be sure to check out the on-site mini zoo. Fab picture opp spot - say "beach!"

The seawater pool is adjacent to the ocean and includes a beach area, loungers and umbrellas.
