Half Great and Half Left Wanting More

Upon arrival we were pleasantly pleased with the appearance of the resort. You can tell that this is a new property and well maintained. We got the Platinum Package with a Jacuzzi Suite. We checked in at the Platinum Club avoiding lines. It was nice. Unfortunately, the checkin process is so slow. We were the only ones checking in and it took about an hour. Part of the checkin process is to try and get you to sign up for a presentation for a time share. It was definitely not a welcomed process. Once through the checkin process we saw our room, the pool and then went to the food court. All were top notch. Could not have asked for better. The pool is so large that you are never crowded. The restaurants are all very good. Hard to believe that they are cooking for hundreds of people. Well done. The wait staff were great. They definitely worked hard to make sure that we had what we need. They were pleasant and many were very funny nd personable. Bar tenders inside the buildings were generally very good as well. Poolside service was hit or miss. The things that we did not like start with the beach. It is small, all sorts of rocks in the water, tons of seaweed both in and out of water make it less than desirable. We did not see many people using the beach during out stay. The Platinum upgrade that we did not not really worth it. We got a "butler" assigned to our room. He was supposed to take care of us throughout our stay. Other then the initial introduction when we checked in, we only saw ours once. During checkin he asked if he could stock our fridge and wanted to know what we would like to have. We told him and never received it. When we ran into him during breakfast, he asked if we'd like to have our Jacuzzi filled, and if we did, at what time. We said yes and gave him a time. When we got to the room with our friends, it was not filled up. Never heard from him again. We heard similar stories throughout our stay. I think that if we had to do it again, the pluses outweigh the negatives. I would not do the Platinum. No real benefit for it. If you want a beach, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

Real nice family resport

The Ventus at Marina El Cid was a really nice family resort. It's advertised as two separate resorts but it's really just one big resort. They have Marina El Cid and then Ventus. There are four big pools to choose from depending on what mood you're in in the morning. They have an active pool, a relaxing pool, an adult only pool and another pool that's in the middle. Most activities are focused on the kids (as it should be in a family resort) but we enjoyed all of the pools. The food was really good but it got a bit redundant at the main buffet. You need reservations at all of the sit down restaurants which was a bit of a pain but wasn't a deal-breaker. We never had to wait for a drink IF we walked up to the bar. The waiters coming around the pool were non-existent. I think I got one drink from a waiter at the pool. That was really my biggest complaint. Every employee was really nice and courteous. Overall, I would definitely go back to this resort.

Ventus At Marina El Cid

The resort itself is BEAUTIFUL. The fragrance that is pumped into the main lobby is nauseating. You are ushered to your concierge after check who then tries to get you to sign up for an after breakfast meeting. I did not sign up as i was told by several guests not to as it is high pressure sales for time share and that they take your ID and credit card and it is 3 hours long. Dining reservations are hard to obtain once you are there, make them in advance and you only allowed 2. All the food we had was excellent. The beach is SMALL. The staff cleaned the beach non stop, there is A LOT of seaweed. No snorkel equipment was available. It is a mature crowd not a lot of children.

Be waery

Very limited food options—- if you got there late they run out of food—-almost no fruit— only watermelon and pineapple— breakfast was very sad and boring to be honest Beach—- nonexistent—— ALOT of seaweed Activities—- leaves a lot to the imagination Lost internet connection often and quite frequent Limited beach chairs which by the way were “reserved” early in the morning by people who were not even using them —— management did not address this A lot of walking around the resort with limited golf car service
