Good for families with young kids

Sandos is a very nice resort for the value and for a family friendly vacation. We have been on many adult only all inclusives and if you have as well, this is a different type of resort. Check in took 30/45 mins as we got there at a busy time with not a ton of staff around to help. We were not given any details about restaurants, reservations, times, resort rules, resort activities. We basically went to our room and had zero clue about anything which was frustrating. We were however room upgraded to a beautiful room steps from the ocean. The room was nice however the bed was hard and made a lot of noise, the kids crashed on a double trundle that was very comfortable and they slept well. Had some back luck with toilets as well. BIG TIP, the beach area is very nice but bring water shoes!!!! The ocean is very rocky down below and has some Sea Urchins that will get you. The activities at the beach were great for all ages, the beach bar made very good cocktails with great service. The pool by the beach is large and is split to two sides that ended up as a quieter side and a tick more rowdy side where the swim up bar is. The water park, even with two slides out of order was a blast and a great break from the pool and beach. The activities at the pool and all over the resort are great once you get the hang of when and where to sign up. The shows at night our young kids and adults loved as well. The resort itself is beautiful with so much nature beauty. The restaurants are where if you have been to adult only spots that specialize in great meals, you will be let down. The food is average at best through out the resort. The steak and fish spot for a 90 min wait was not what was expected. BIG TIP, book a reservation ASAP at the Japanese Hibachi, we heard great things about it but weren’t able to get a time. If you expect big, fine dining and great room accommodations this isn’t the best spot. Now, our kids loved every bit of the place and had a blast which is why we went. If you want to take the kids someplace where they can have fun with tons of activities, this is it!

Jungle stay

Sandos Caracol Eco Resort was an adventure. Even though I probably won’t go back there, I would recommend it to people. The jungle atmosphere just isn’t for me ( smell, wetness). We did a day at Playacar And I think that is more my style. Openness, the beach not so many bushes everywhere. It felt so much more appealing to me. Can’t say enough about the help. They were awesome. The smoking situation needs to be addressed more plainly. Smokers are confused as to where the are allowed to smoke. I would suggest adding more signs. Some to tell them no smoking and some to tell them where smoking is okay. Also at check-in would be nice to go over the smoking rules if it pertains to the customer. I was worried about the bug situation but thankfully saw none. We had to wade thru knee high water to get to our room. They finally put up a make shift bridge, which helped but soon became inadequate. Help said happens every time it rains a lot. So my suggestion would be to build a permanent bridge. Not fun wading thru water! Cheap Caribbean and Amstar were great. Would definitely book thru them again.

Felt like a Queen of my own Jungle

Stayed in Select Club Penthouse which is adult only section. If you don't have kids with you spend the extra for the penthouse it is absolutely worth it, it is expensive to upgrade when you get there. Our room was huge, twice the size of superior room, with balcony Jacuzzi we sat in almost every night and saw monkies in the mornings in trees outside our room. So much wildlife, monkeys, iguanas, coaties, exotic birds, peacocks, turtles, that are just roaming the resort on every path, it truely feels like you are in a jungle. Yes there are bugs, including mosquitoes, but that should be expected due to them keeping this place as natural as possible; cenotes are so much prettier than concrete..wear deet bug spray everyday and enjoy nature. They have so much to do that we were unable to get it all done in the 9 days we were there. Don't miss the fire of life or the Michael Jackson show they have in the evenings. Swam in the cenotes, did the Jade river tour, and the blind folded sensory experience which were all wonderful. I loved their beach, yes it has rocks...wear water shoes. Snorkeled out by the boyees on Rock ledges and saw so many different fish. There was no seaweed and tons the shells along the shore. I never once felt unsafe, we were drunkenly toodling down a wall bordering path when an employee comes out of nowhere and asks to check our bracelets, made me feel safe that they do have security. As far as food, I never had a bad meal, went to all of the dinner ala cartes and I have never seen such hard working servers. Book hibachi restaurant when you get there they book quickly but it's well worth it. Our favorite service and food was the Brazil. Servers aim to please, so tip them well, and you service will be awesome the whole time. Same with the bar tenders, they were fun and always happy to make you a drink and shot. Give them a tip everytime and they will remember you, and Don Julio will continue to flow. As far as pools the main pool was fun with the swim up bar lots of people and the select club pool was chill and relaxing with the occasional monkey and thong sighting. They have nice tred Mills at the spa and an awesome steam room to warm up in. The best tips I received prior to travel that held true to making my trip more enjoyable are 1. Don't believe all the crapy reviews and and believe me I read them all too 2. Bring water shoes, tennis shoes flip flops, bug spray, drink mug, and lots of dollar bills for tips , tip the maid extra and get some bottled tequilla and champagne and fire stick bc they have HDMI plugs 3. Explore all of the free shows and activities this resort has to offer 4. Book the room you want initially don't expect an upgrade when you get there and select club if you are adults 5. Do the AM transfers with cheap carribean they did a great job getting us to and from airport, taxi drivers tend to rip off people. 6. Preseasoned probiotics before and during vaca and we never got sick 7. A good attitude because I noticed that angry people seemed to get no where with service but respect always received smiling service. Every worker we passed greated us with an Hola! We are a couple who love adventures and this resort surpassed the level of what we expected for a jungle experience.
