Beautiful looking resort- very clean and taken care of. Check-in and check-out take FOREVER. Lots of people standing behind counter but no one really helpful. Luckily, we only dealt with that twice. Facilities and pools are very nice. Beach is somewhat small and can get crowded with kids but the adult pool was very relaxing, although difficult to get a drink from the infrequent bar service in that location. Food was bland- nothing very exciting. Over the five days, we felt like we had eaten everything that they had to offer and were looking forward to head home to variate our diet. Difficult to get the all-inclusive drinks but if you nuzzle up to the bar, you could usually get something. Concierge service in each building was kind of annoying- constantly being asked if everything was going well, which was nice, but always striking up conversation but overly intrusive. We like quiet. Also, this service echoed throughout the building interior and our rooms were close enough that we heard every conversation. Room noise was not well-insulated. You could hear every footstep above (we requested an upper-level room but were placed on the ground floor). Noise, in general, went from 8am or earlier each day (landscapers outsider our balcony, concierge conversations, etc.), quiet during the day, and then stomping above until late at night. The grounds were beautiful- lots of wildlife to view. We saw monkeys, iguanas, and lots of other wildlife. The ruins on site were neat to see.

Worst service

I just got back and this was one of the worst places I have been because of their services. Our room had brown water and it took them over Two hours of phone calls for them to give us a new room. The services is very slow and I felt very ignored the entire time. It is a beautiful resort and the pool is lovely, but it doesn’t have a lot of beach. Their website says they have some free WiFi but they is false. I will not be going back!

Awesome Vacation!

This place was awesome! There seemed to be a fair amount of people at the resort, but it never felt like it. It never felt crowded and it was easy and quick to get into the restaurants. The beach was nice and relaxing with plenty of chairs, hammocks and a dozen hanging beds. We didn’t get too much instruction about where to go or what do to for food when we got there but we stumbled around to find them. The only bad thing from our trip was when we went over to Xcaret and ate the Buffet food there. The ONLY food that made us sick was the buffet at Xcaret. Everything at the hotel was safe and good. I would spend only a day at Xcaret. Do the show at night! Float the rivers but try and do them later in the day as they are less crowded. Also skip Rio Azul (blue river) you just float down a tunnel the whole time. Instead pick the 2 rivers on the right when you get to the fork. They are the rio maya and I think rio manatee or something like that. It was also nice that we bought the transportation with our trip. It was through AMStar and it was great service and easy. They also had people at the hotel for us to meet with to help us get good packages to activities in the area. Only marked it 4 stars because we got sick from Xcaret ##please note## If you are a male, you HAVE/NEED to bring long pants. You have to have long pants and closed toe shoes in order to eat at the nicer/fancier restaurants at night.

Awesome Vacation! Awesome Vacation!

Occidental Xcaret fun vacation

Fantastic time in Xcaret! Transportation from Cancun with Amstar was easy and fast. Hotel check in was quick and easy. Resort was beautiful and rooms were nicely appointed and clean. Fun walk to the man made beach with an occasional monkey siting. Pools were not too crowded and plenty of chairs available. We ate at several restaurants and enjoyed the buffet several times. Food was good with a wide variety. Nightly entertainment was very good. Staff was very friendly and always smiling. Arranged excursions to Xelha and Xcaret Eco Park through on site Amstar Concierge and swan with dolphins and swam in denotes. Special shout out to Francisco and Phillipe the bartenders at the pool bar, they were amazing and never stopped. Thanks Occidental, we had a great time!
