Nice Big Resort with a Few Problems

Just spent a week at the resort. Overall, the place is really nice. Plenty for kids and adults to do, but there are a couple of things that would make me not recommend it. Below are the good and bad: Good: Big Resort - if you don’t want to walk much, this is not the place for you. From the restaurants to the beach is a good 5 minute walk. We didn’t mind as there was plenty to see along the way, but if you cannot get around easy, then this is not a good place. Good: Lots of stuff to see and do. We spent a lot of time at the lazy river and wave pool. There are several other larger pools that are nice too with activities daily. The nightly entertainment was just OK, but we still enjoyed it. Good: French fries at the beach and the steakhouse. OK: lunches were OK, nothing special. The Japanese restaurant was OK too. Not the best one I have had but not the worst. Bad: they really need to do something about the mosquitoes. They are horrible. They are even bad in the rooms, so you get bit all night long. Make sure you load up on bug spray. Bad: breakfasts and all the other restaurants were not good. If you come for a week, you run out of good dining really fast. Overall, if they could improve the food and control the mosquitoes, this place would be very nice. Very few resorts though have really good food. Seems like someone would get that right. I hope this helps.

Paraiso Maya

I loved this resort because it's a good different if compare with the one I went two year before which is beach resort. Maya is little more expensive, but I like about that on the restaurants, I can requested any dinner that I like during my stay if compare with beach resort which I only allow to book 2 dinner for my 5 nights or maybe they change the policies and you have to check on the beach resort. It was hot but all their facilities are in AC and we loved it.

hotel/transportation/food

So first getting to mexico you would think it would be smooth transportation come to realize upon arriving and leaving the airport i go to catch my ride and I'm told i am not on any list and i do not have a ride booked. I knew this was wrong because it clearly said it on my booking confirmation i did. Myself and my family were sitting at the airport for over 2.5 hours trying to figure this out because i did not want to pay again as i did on my previous trip to Jamaica when my ride never arrived and i had to catch a taxi. this was very annoying and irritating as i came to find out the cheapcaribbean or Amstar never confirmed my transportation. I also had to deal with this trying to book my return ride to the airport. Upon arriving to the hotel after waiting so long the hotel was beautiful i check in and get an "upgrade" so i was surprised but when getting to my room had the most disgusting smell, smelled like a wet basement. the sheets were all wet from the humidity in the room. just wasnt a welcoming way to start my vacation after spending so much money. I did end up getting moved after informing them but i had to wait an additional night before moving because "no rooms were ready" . Pools were clean, beach was disgustingly filled with mountains of seaweed Food options were TERRIBLE. majority of the time food came out cold even dining at the "special" restaurants. most of my trip i ate fruits and breaded chicken because that was really the only thing edible.

Loved it!

What a wonderful experience. The staff was very nice and helpful. The food was great. We were able to get reservations to most a la carte restaurants. Overall, a great experience. The room was big/spacious and clean. The pools were nice and warm. A lot of activities for families. My kid/s enjoyed the activities and shows that the resort had to offer. The resort has a shopping center area where you can find other food (tacos, crepes, ice cream, coffee shop). It was a nice little area to go to. The buffet restaurants had a lot of variety of food. The employees would offer drinks all the times throughout the resort. Whether you’re at the pool or enjoying a show.. someone would come up and offer us drinks. We were treated very well. We will definitely go back. And from now on looking to stay at more Iberostar resorts!

Environmental Levy Fee
The Municipalidad of Solidaridad in the Rivera Maya is one of the most beautiful places in the Mexican Caribbean. Tourism has been instrumental in driving the economic and social development of the region. In an effort to continue to preserve, conserve and beautify the destination, the Municipality of Solidaridad has implemented a small environmental levy on visitors effective September 1, 2017. Hotels will collect 20 Mexican pesos per room per day on check out; the proceeds will be deposited in an environmental trust to fund local projects. The Municipalidad of Solidaridad thanks you for your understanding and support of this worthwhile endeavor. Thank you and enjoy your visit.
