TLDR - find someplace better
There's a lot to unpack from our trip. Not all of it bad but not all of it great. The TLDR is that we wouldn't go back to Hotel Xcaret Mexico. It's too big and misses on too many notes but the property is really nice. The food: We ate at a different restaurant every night but still usually ended up back at one of the buffets. Most of the food we had was unimpressive but some of it was tasty. What was particularly frustrating though was the lack of caring about cross-contamination. I don't want my eggs cooked with the same spatula you just used to prepare shell fish. It was particularly frustrating also that the restaurants required a reservation despite not being busy. Some of the places didn't even have our reservation listed but we were told it was a requisite and therefor had to plan our evenings around times we commit to on day one. The service: Everyone we met at Hotel Xcaret Mexico was great. They all really seemed intent on making sure we had a good time. The problem became, the place is so darn big we never saw the same person more than once. Despite all the technology available, there was no centralized log of preferences or focus areas so each day everything needed to be learned again. The resort: Just too big. This might be on us but we had no idea how large and confusing the resort was until we were there trying to navigate. We had to plan an extra 15 minutes just to get from our room to the restaurant. We'd sometimes do a dry-run during the day just to make sure we could find the place. The signage THROUGOUT the resort is horrible. Sometimes there's a sign, sometimes there isn't.. and oh yeh, I hope you don't have mobility issues because a lot of this place is not accessible. The App: it could be so much better and would have alleviated a lot of our frustration navigating the grounds. but it's just window dressing. It will give you a general direction and sometimes provided accurate information such as what level someplace is on but other times it was just wrong.. Entertainment: We never saw any. Okay, that's not completely true. We saw the live music and dancing demonstrations in the afternoons but there was no evening entertainment. If you don't have shows, fine - have some place for people to go but nothing. So we'd have dinner (and stop at the buffet) and then without anywhere else to go, we'd go to our rooms early. What a way to spend a vacation in paradise! The room: The room was nice. Spacious, modern, and well thought out. But can someone tell me what the deal is with a tub that takes over 30 minutes to fill? It seemed like the tub was there to impress but not actually use. We got turn down service a couple nights (inconsistent), our minibar was inadequately refilled even when we called to ask for it to be refilled, and the A/C was inadequate most of the time. The drinks: What drinks!? They can make a mojito, a margarita, a pina colada but there's no mixologists on the premises. A couple of the restaurants have signature drinks but there was no bar to go to. No lounges to enjoy a martini in, and to be honest, no real focus on the drinks. They were treated as a necessary evil - people are going to want a drink, so we'll figure out how to make the basics.

No organization at all! An army of staff, but not even one person takes care of giving the necessary instructions upon arrival t
Very disappointing experience. Everything felt focused on the business model rather than guest satisfaction. Upon arrival, we were not given a map or any clear information about activities. On our last day, we were told we could use a guest room, but the staff would not allow us to leave our belongings inside, so I had to go to the beach carrying four bags. There were also no clear instructions about the bus transfer to the airport. Poor communication and organization overall.
