Worst vacation ever.....

This was my family’s first vacation to Mexico. We were celebrating one daughter graduating college and another high school. Something we normally wouldn’t do with three other children but it was a special occasion. The pool was ok. Staff really worked hard. The food was descent. I wouldn’t even bother with the restaurants. They weren’t good. Breakfast had descent options. My biggest complaint was the beach!!!! It smelt and looked like a sewage pond. We were never able to get in it. I specifically asked the lady booking how the beach was because my wife and kids love the beach, she said it was amazing. We had to spend almost another $1000.00 to travel to Isla Mujeres for a day to get some beach time. Like I said before this is something we normally wouldn’t do with such a large family. We spent almost $10,000.00. on the worst vacation we’ve ever been on. I would advise against booking through them because they say what they think you want to hear.

Great winter break

Great resort for family vacations. Immaculate grounds and great services. This was my fourth stay (including last December at the Ventus) The dining choices have increased and the food is delicious and more evening entertainment. Close enough to Puerto Morales for quick trip to town that won't cost you an arm and leg. Willl definitely return.

Won't Go Back

We don't vacation often, so this was a special treat for my husband & I. Over a year ago I booked our trip thru CheapCarribean.Com - and found a deal for $1467.00 for (4) nights (5) days at an all inclusive resort in Mexico. The pictures showed beautiful pools and white sandy beaches. When we got into Mexico, after customs we went thru this terminal area to the taxi/shuttle bus areas. We were stopped and immediately questioned on what our plans were while in Mexico. All we wanted to do was relax, destress and spend time together as a couple. About 20 minutes in we said we aren't interested and made our way to our shuttle bus. Once we arrived to Marina El Cid we checked in and were told to go and see our concierge who would help us during our stay. I only saw that lady one time! She sat us down on the couch and asked if we wanted a drink, and she started to review our stay asking all types of questions about what excursions or special things we wanted to do. This back and forth went on for about 45 minutes and she ended up talking us into a short 1 and 1/2 hour presentation of the resort in exchange for (3) $75 coupons to use in their gift shop and a 2 for 1 price massage. We finally got to our room, feeling that stress we were trying to eliminate. The next morning we reported to the lobby at 930 and were greeted by our sales rep. He ate breakfast with us, which was kind of strange and an invasive to us as a couple. He talked a lot about himself and his love for dogs, which I shared my love of dogs with him. I had (4) dogs, and guess what he had (4) dogs! After breakfast we went to this room they have to share their presentation. It was the ONLY room in the lobby where the music was playing loud like we were in a club - BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM, the ENTIRE time we were sitting there, as they offered us drinks. After about an hour of this we got into a golf cart and rode around the resort with him and looked at (3) rooms. Then back to the BOOM BOOM room, at this point I was having trouble focusing. He pulled up the 1st plan which he felt would work best for us. The base plan he presented for 300,000 points to use to travel to resorts such as theirs was $99K, with a $2K origination fee. You put $37K down and then pay $1600 for (5) years with a yearly maintenance fee. We were adamant we would not be able to afford that, he then went to see a manager who walked over sat down and guess what he had (4) dogs! How coincidental! He offered us a lesser plan of 100,000 points still with an outrageous fee. We went back and forth with him for about 30 minutes and then they had someone come over they claimed would survey us on our experience. He tried to sell us a plan! After our adamant NO we got up and walked out to claim our gifts, and that guy tried to sell us a plan! FURIOUS we grabbed our certificates and walked, wasting over (3) hours of our vacation time, STRESSED more than when we left. Finally when we made it to the beach, it smelled of Sulphur, or rotten eggs and there was white sand but not turquois waters as shown on their website and the beach was so rocky and full of green/red seaweed we didn't set foot in it. We spent the rest of our time at the pool. Yes the pool was nice, but I really envisioned us on the beach 3/4 of the time there, that was not the case at all. We will NEVER go back and want to warn anyone who goes to SAY NO to these ridiculous offers for time points. Very disappointed!

Great resort for kids

3 families with 7 kids ranging from 6 to 14 traveled over Thanksgiving. This is a perfect resort for kids and teens. There is so much to do and a great variety of food options all kids like. The pools are amazing. The adults loved it too! I would highly recommend.

Hotel Description

Hotel Marina El Cid Resort: Experience All-Inclusive Luxury

If you've been seeing white-sands, swaying palm trees and blue water instead of traffic jams, cramped cubicles and mindless sitcoms, you know it's time for a vacation. Choose Hotel Marina El Cid in Riviera Maya, where you'll find those palm trees and blue ocean, as well as warm breezes and a private beach of lovely white sand ready for you to ease your restless mind.

This all-inclusive, oceanfront resort, less than 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport, overlooks Puerto Morelos National Reef Park on the Mayan Riviera, just a hop, skip and a jump from the charming fishing village of Puerto Morelos. Scuba divers and snorkelers can explore the off-shore reef that ranks as the second-largest in the world, while the water lovers find their sanctuary in the heated infinity pool or the 22,000-sq-ft, free-form pool, complete with a swim-up bar, cascading waterfalls, and in-water lounge chairs. A designated children's area hosts a network of waterslides to keep the kids happy, while the adult-only section features a spa tub, sun deck, and a Jacuzzi bar-and-massage area.

But to find the essence of relaxation, go no further than Scaramanga Bar and Lounge, where you can enjoy all-inclusive cocktails while swaying in rope hammocks or lying on plush mattresses on the warm sand. Visit Hacienda Arrecife, poolside, for classic Mexican dishes and 100-plus brands of tequila to keep you palate wet. If you are hankering for something a little different, wander into El Alcazar for gourmet Mediterranean fare, where an extensive wine cellar and delicacies, such as duck breast and beef filet prove irresistible.

Complete your daytime adventure with a dolphin swim before returning to your exquisite Junior Suite, with an ocean, garden or pool view, where you'll find yourself surrounded by contemporary decor and a mild Mediterranean palette of warm colors. Or, if your energy still abounds, just stop by for a change of clothes before taking to the Lobby Bar Cafe & Lounge for a night of live music.

Environmental Levy Fee
The Municipalidad of Solidaridad in the Rivera Maya is one of the most beautiful places in the Mexican Caribbean. Tourism has been instrumental in driving the economic and social development of the region. In an effort to continue to preserve, conserve and beautify the destination, the Municipality of Solidaridad has implemented a small environmental levy on visitors effective January 1, 2020. Hotels will collect $25.45 Mexican pesos per room per day (amount is subject to change without notice) upon check in; the proceeds will be deposited in an environmental trust to fund local projects. The Municipalidad of Solidaridad thanks you for your understanding and support of this worthwhile endeavor. Thank you and enjoy your visit.
