WOULD RECOMMEND

There was ALWAYS something to do on the Grand Palladium resort’s grounds. The complementary entertainment was phenomenal, José “Alfredo” was the best bartender we’ve ever had ANYWHERE, the beach was rocky, but the water was nice. Seaweed problems were mentioned in other’s previous reviews, but it wasn’t an issue when we were there. Staff was helpful, and golf cart transportation was always available to get from resort to resort.. we didn’t even have to leave or go on an excursion because the resorts offered almost everything there! Lots of cats and animals and the trees are labeled. They had restaurants for everything: only two needing a reservation. Only complaint is that the room we were stuck in, had pretty serious damage to the door prior to our stay and that was the first thing we noticed. You could tell it had been kicked in or broken into, wether it had been done by an intruder or the resort for other serious reasons, it just had us on edge at the start, but towards the end, we felt extremely safe and pretty secure. We WOULD recommend it and WOULD go again. Aside from the whole door issue, everything was SPECTACULAR.

Big Resort, Great Resort

Big resort, but they have trolleys that will pick you up IF you want. The walk isnt that bad though. Even though this is a large resort- it doesnt seem crowded with people. Family resort - great for school aged kids as the child area/pool/water slides looked great! (I left my kids at home). Food: MANY options, flavor is good! Only have to make reservation for 2 of the many. The buffet has great options, but often the food was not hot.. or even warm. Service: fantastic! Staff everyone very nice! Activities: many activities to keep you occupied throughout the resort, but the staff isn't pushy like at some resorts... they will let you lay by pool if thats what you want! Beach/Pool: great pool, very clean and spacious. Beach was very rocky and a little small ( only reason it got 4out of 5 palms). Not a reason NOT to come here. Room: fine enough, nothing special. Beds were a little hard for my personal liking. Also it seemed like the AC/thermostat had a ind of its own. Above all, very clean, very friendly resort. good food. great drinks, tons of options! I would absolutely go back to this place!

A little disappointing ,,, OK/ a LOT disappointing

Our party of 6 has enjoyed numerous all-inclusive vacations with Cheap Caribbean and have usually been thoroughly impressed and happy with our stays. We are not fussy people, but we now know the difference between 4 and 5 star resorts , and 3 star resorts. The Grand Palladium Colonial was advertised as a 4-5 star, and in fact, it clearly is more of a 3 star resort. Let me explain: The Pros: Good people, overall good service. The Cons: All three of our Guest Rooms were sub-par. Small, aging looking, ceramic tiles broken, stained, not pristine clean, unpolished and unclean bathroom fixtures, stained grout around tub, toilet. This place is tired, is past its prime, and we were not at all happy. One room suffered a daily power outage for about an hour each day, right during shower time. Another room had a non-working ceiling fan, none of the rooms offered a jacuzzi, not even a comfortable chair, small dining table or chairs, nor a view at all. Although most of our time was not spent in room, it was not at all inviting or comfortable when we were there. We left daily tips for the housekeeping staff, and it was never acknowledged. (Not that it needed to be, but often we have come back to rooms with maybe a towel animal, flowers, or small small token of their appreciation for our generosity, but not here) Also, as previous reviews indicated, this place is absolutely huge, meaning it took 5 days to get acclimated and figure out how to get places easily, as there is not a current map. We dont mind walking, but it just takes too darned long to get from room to beach, pool, dinner , etc. The food was fine, not outstanding, the buffets offered a decent variety, but food is often getting cool, dried out. Small side note, this is the first all-inclusive we’ve been at that did not offer shrimp on buffet bar- not a deal breaker, but I missed it!!! Same with soft ice cream, which we became accustomed to at all other resorts. Drinks are more watered down than we have ever experienced at other resorts. Regarding location: It is important to note this resort takes a full 60-70 minutes to drive to with private Amstar transfer. It is remote, and hardly any other resorts near it on the beach front. This results in very few vendors, and few if any hassles with being approached about excursions, time shares. However, the bad side is, that we kinda missed the more active vibe, missed the vast array of souvenir sales people we are used to. LIkewise, while we are all 50 plus years old, so is everyone else here! Guess we felt like real senior citizens, and missed the younger crowd we’ve enjoyed at other places (which are usually closer to the cities: Cancun, Riviera Maya, Punta Cana, Jamaica, etc)
