Great service
Great selection for breakfast and lunch in the Jaal Ha restaurant but the star was definitely Francisco. He looked after my family and I everyday, making us, especially the children, feel very welcomed. Thank you Francisco

Honest Review of Our Stay
Our stay at BlueBay Grand Esmeralda in Playa del Carmen was unfortunately filled with several issues. Here’s an objective breakdown of our experience: Room Conditions • The first room we were given had dirty sheets with visible makeup and lipstick stains, and the overall room was not clean. • The room came with only one set of towels and no washcloths. After requesting more, we waited over an hour and had to call back to receive them. • The air conditioning stopped working, and the ceiling fan shook and made loud noises when turned on. • Electrical outlets were faulty, with one covering a large, open hole in the wall. Even after maintenance visited, one outlet still didn’t work properly. My fast Apple charger barely charged my phone after hours. • We later found a gecko in the room. This is common in tropical climates, but still something to be aware of. • Our original reservation requested a double bed for my daughter and me, but we were placed in a room with a king bed. The first room change was only to correct this. Room Change We requested a room change again due to the issues listed above. The second room was only slightly better, but at least the air conditioning worked properly. However, I recommend avoiding Room 5238 based on our experience. Pool & Beach • The pool was enjoyable—8/10 overall. Plenty of space, clean water, and a decent layout. However, there were often no available lounge chairs, so plan accordingly. • Unfortunately, my Pandora jewelry (sterling silver) changed color after swimming in the pool, which suggests possible chemical imbalance in the water. • The beach had a strong odor due to heavy seaweed (common in this area, but still unpleasant during our stay). Service • We were told room service was included, but were later informed of extra charges, which was disappointing. • Dariela, a staff member, was the highlight of our stay. She went above and beyond to assist with every issue we encountered. Her professionalism and kindness truly stood out. Final Thoughts While the resort has potential, especially with staff like Dariela, there are several maintenance, cleanliness, and communication issues that impacted the quality of our stay. I would advise future guests to double-check room conditions and confirm all included services upon arrival.

Worst beach ever
We were absolutely deceived with the beach and sea water at this hotel. There is a big step of sand not leveled right before the water and a very different color of sand which shows this is an artificial beach. There is a LOT of seaweed in the beach and the staff won't even bother to remove it. The water is dark and muddy, not turquoise as anyone coming to Playa del Carmen would expect. This is not a 5 stars hotel at all.
