Don’t purchase,DEAL OF FORTUNE in Puerto Vallarta

The resort was purchased through the “Deal of Fortune”. We had purchased the “Deal of Fortune” in the past, going to Cabo and were very pleased. However, this resort was old, the only good food was at the pool, & small kids were everywhere. I have been to many all inclusive resorts that were “family friendly”, but the kids took over the pool (even though there was a “kids pool”), restaurants, and the bar/lounge area. I had to stand at the bar in the lobby because kids were sitting in the bar seats. There was good live music in the bar lounge, but no where to sit. Again...kids took over. I like kids, but they were wild with no supervision and the hotel staff allowed it. The bartenders were too busy making kids drinks that we had to wait at least 20 minutes to order. Food and crumbs were all over the floor and chairs. The service was okay, but if you tip $20 a day you get better service. The employees in the kayak rental area were great...very helpful! The maids do not restock the mini fridges. Bottled water wasn’t always available, which was odd. We only saw the nightly entertainment one night. The performers were very talented, but the stage and props were cheap looking. The bed was comfortable and the ocean view from the room was beautiful. Bottom line...don’t purchase a Deal of Fortune unless the possible resorts are listed!!

Stay away

The resort was very small. Not enough lounge chairs. Terrible food and drinks and just plain boring . No entertainment or good music.

Sunscape Puerto Vallarta

My trip to Puerto Vallarta was great. One thing I was disappointed with was the beach itself. Not because it was dirty, because it was really clean. The undertow in the water was so strong we could hardly get in. Not sure if this is the case all the time, but it is the pacific not the Caribbean. It was also cold which is typical of the pacific coast. The resort was great. They did a great job making sure we didn't need anything. I highly recommend the joining the sun club. We paid a little extra but it also guaranteed us a cabana and chairs everyday. There was also a spot by the pool that was Suppose to be for sunny club members but it was not policed as well. The resort says they prohibit saving chairs at the pool, but they don't enforce it. All of the buffet restaurant were good. Some nights they had certain themes (Italian night..ect.) The entertainment that the resort provided every night was phenomenal. They had different shows every night. All were great. Also showed movies in the evening by the beach and provided popcorn too! Check their activity board everyday and you will know what is coming.. Some restaurants are within walking distance, but the bulk of the activity was downtown. We were there during their holy week, so we didn't venture back down due to it was so very crowded.

I DONT RECCOMEND

THE PRICE WAS GOOD HOWEVER OUR ROOM WAS NOT READY WHEN WE ARRIVED AND INSTEAD OF A KING BED THAT I RESERVED WE GOT TWO FULL SIZE BEDS. MY HUSBAND IS A LARGE MAN WHO TAKES UP A FULL SIZE BY HIMSELF SO WE HAD TO SLEEP IN SEPARATE BEDS OUR WHOLE ANNIVERSARY VACATION. THE RESTERAUNTS WERE GOOD BUT NOT VERY MANY OPTIONS. THE MAID SERVICE WAS AWFUL! They did not restock our mini fridge one single time even though we asked three different times. The maid literally left folded piles of sheets for us to change our own bedding her name was Lucero. The waiters doing drink service on the beach where amazing especially Claudio. Ramon at the bar inside was also an absolute Delight he was awesome! Mo was also great. I had asked for a resort with fewer kids in it least an adult-only area I was told that this one had an adult-only area they advertised on their website that they have an adult only jacuzzi however they did not have either of those. The place was swarming with families which is great if you want a family vacation however we were looking for more of a couple's vacation and this resort was definitely not that. Cheap Caribbean overall is a good value however I wish I had gotten better customer service as far as booking the type of Resort I was looking for.

What's to Love

Family-friendly check-in Hollywood style - red carpet stairs and yummy welcome treats.

Resort passports that send the kids on their own adventure.

With the Sierra Madres & Banderas Bay as the resort's backdrop, your selfies are going to break the Internet (hey, they might!)

Spa luxuries like a Chocolate Body Wrap or a blowout that will make your hair shine.

Golden sandy beaches where you can kayak, windsurf or kick back while the kids make sand castles.

The kids will love the waterslide at the pool!

The Marina Vallarta Golf Club is within walking distance to the resort. Hopefully you won't be yelling "Fore!" too much!

What We'd Change

Booking a Sun Club room would have given us a few more perks that we would've liked, especially room service at night. The kids were completely worn out from all the fun in the sun, and ordering in would have been a treat! Luckily, the restaurant let us take food to-go!

Why You Should Go

You'll have a drink in your hand in no time since it's only 10 minutes from the airport.

El Malecon is nearby with shops, restaurants/bars, art, & clowns performing tricks. (not the scary kind).

Surfs up at the Punta Mita surfing school where the whole family can take on the waves.

You can rent a boat and check out the famous Love Island at the Marietas.

Historical San Sebastian is a short drive away.

Swimming with the dolphins is a must and in the right season, the whale watching will blow your mind.
